I've asked this before without a reply, which Grandstand should I go for for Silverstone next year?

Depends on how much you want to pay for it.

The best grandstands are Club and Village but they'll cost around £300 for the weekend.

Hopefully my friend can afford Club, that does look good with the last corner, pit entry and start/finish straight.

For value-for-money, Stowe is fantastic. Only problem is that its uncovered and it likes to rain at Silverstone.

+1 can't stand when he is doing commentary for SPEED when Bob Varsha is off doing auction stuff.
Anyone is better than Bob Varsha.

F1 wont be the same without Barrichello.
Yea, maybe. He's been so invisible this year, though. Seems Maldonado has stolen more headlines than he has.

And Kimi coming back could be a disaster, even though I love the guy. Guys like Heidfeld and Schumacher did not fare well after being out of the sport for a while.

As far as I can remember you can only see the very beginning of the pit entry as there is a barrier in the way, you can see along to the exit of Stowe though which is good.

Other than possibly Becketts or Woodcote you'll see the cars for the most time each lap.

Edit:
Also bear in mind that your ticket doesn't guarantee your seat for qualifying as anyone with a grandstand ticket can go into any grandstand.

I was at Stowe this year, it was very good. However, the DRS zone was on the Wellington Straight so there wasn't as much overtaking going on there as I had hoped there would be.

Take a coat and umbrella and you'll be fine, besides you can always arrive much later on with a grandstand seat (unless you want a parking space). In 2008 I had a general admission ticket, arrived at the track at 5am to get a good spot and then had to sit in the rain all day.

i like NASCAR over Formula One. my car has a steering problem, cannot turn right, just left. NASCAR reminds me of my car, very nostalgic!

Again, Brundle is great and all, but I want the team. I want DC, I want Eddie and I want Jake. Brundle alone can't do much if he gets a shitty partner.

I can't live without Eddie. :(

Great opportunity and it's always nice to hear from Mika.

If I was him, I'd have pushed that car a bit harder. Maybe leave an impression on the McLaren team :p

My life would be complete after an experience like that.

What a lucky bastard!
Also surprising that he handled it that well, especially with the struggles Hammond had with that... Renault?

Great picture from the grid in Korea I found on Autosport. Casual Alonso as always.

Good, he wasn't good enough and its time for Lotus to grow up and be taken seriously by not swapping drivers for financial gain.
Indeed, this is what I was saying a yesterday!
Glad Lotus arent doing it - as so far they seem to be the only new team that should be taken seriously

Some details:

To be known as the Grand Prix of America, the race will be held on roads around Port Imperial in the towns of Weehawken and West New York.

The race will run for the first time in June 2013, and as with Austin, there is a 10-year-deal.

The 3.2 mile track, which features some interesting elevation changes, and will be built by Hermann Tilke.

As revealed here in August, the man behind the race is TV executive and sometime sportscar racer Leo Hindery.

His father-in-law, legendary US promoter Humpy Wheeler, is also involved.

F1 sponsor UBS is among the companies to have a base in Weehawken.

Austin’s Tavo Hellmund has offered his support: “I want to extend my congratulations to Leo and his team, as I know how much work they have put into making this happen. When I walked the site a few years ago, the site’s potential was obvious. I am excited for the East Coast and feel Tuesday’s announcement is yet another acknowledgement of the viability, fan interest, economic benefits and prestige an F1 Grand Prix event brings to a region.

“New Jersey and Texas, nearly 2,000 miles apart, offer unique and very different fan experiences destined to not only raise the visibility of the sport in this country, but also increase the global attraction and US support of these world-class events. These two regions are going to be terrific backdrops for the world’s most advanced form of racing.”

So 59/60 laps (305k min distance)... Wonder how that will play out (or if it will get a reduced lap count to keep the race shorter due to some slower corners.

Why reduced lap count? I think 300km is pretty standard nowadays on race length is it not?

Good looking proposal. I hope it comes to fruition. I very much like the wooded uphill followed by an almost street area with actual houses and shops on the corner. And the pit lane entry/exit looks oddly placed, but maybe I am not seeing it right.

Two potential GP's in the US, it's like the seventies all over again. Now get rid of Valencia and a couple of the desert GP's; reinstate the Portuguese GP and the Argentine GP and we're set.

This is fantastic. I'm already here in Houston so driving to Austin is no big deal and I have friends I can stay with in New York so getting to Port Imperial is no problem at all. Good stuff.

In other news, Adrian Sutil is getting a little nervous about his seat at Force India.

The skyline view from that area will be spectacular and I bet it shows very well on camera.
I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't, F1 camera positions have a strange habit of completely cutting out the background.

Hopefully they'll have a couple showing sweeping angles on that straight.

Full story here: http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/95648

Adrian Sutil says he wants a quick answer from Force India about his future, amid speculation that the team will replace him with Nico Hulkenberg.

While Sutil's team-mate Paul di Resta is considered secure in his seat for 2012, there have been rumours that the team will take up its option to put current third driver Hulkenberg in a race seat at Sutil's expense.

Team boss Vijay Mallya had previously indicated that it would not be taking any driver decisions until after the 2011 season was finished, but Sutil told reporters at media events ahead of the Indian Grand Prix that he wanted talks with Mallya before then.

"I can't wait till December," Sutil was quoted as saying by Reuters.

"I will speak to him very soon and see what his ideas are. I don't need to wait so long for a seat. I think I know what I can do, so I don't feel insecure."

Getting away from new circuit speculation into 2012 nose speculation. Scarbs has posted a diagram of what he thinks the low noses will look like. He's very rarely wrong, I'm hoping this is one of those occasions.

Looks horrible, I hoped they would look more like the Brawn nose.
