Looks a lot like the VJM03.

Very nice view, but will it be day or night race, or dusk?
It has to be a day race I would think, same time as Montreal. A Day->Night race would be sweet, but that would require lighting, and make the race air at a very late time slot in Europe.

Agreed. Remember, New York is -5/-6 hours from mainland Europe. Race will probably be an early evening broadcast for you guys, so I'd say somewhere between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Eastern is when it starts.

I aslo expect this will be the June race after Montreal. There will be no other sports competition then except the Yankees in the Bronx and the Mets ... the hahahaha ... Mets ... lol ...

Of course I wouldn't. Austin works best in its projected 2012 slot before Brazil. New York summers can be bad (usually not in June, though) but Texas gets much, much hotter from what I've been told during those months. Plus, coming through the U.S. twice allows them to try and draw folks to two races. People will pay if they can interest them enough.

While I'm sad Indianapolis is no longer a venue (if only for being 3 hours away), it wasn't the best track for F1. Hopefully these two will be good.

Twist:

They all hate motorsports.
I bet the complaints have already started about noise, pollution, etc.

It looks to be a sweet track though. I was going to wait until 2013 to go to Austin. I might go to NJ instead.

They originally scheduled the 2012 US Grand Prix in June, until they noticed that its ridiculously hot in June in Texas, especially this summer. Thankfully, they decided to move it to November, when the weather might be cold, but it might also be 70 and sunny.

holy shit. lucky people with front row seats to f1 race FROM THE COMFORT OF THEIR HOMES
If it's anything like the people who live around Albert Park in Melbourne, there will be an onslaught of people crying about noise and traffic and you'll hear no one saying "omg I'm so lucky living here".

True, not everyone loves F1 the way we do. It's just a big nuisance for most people.

Wow, I never knew that when Schumacher broke his leg he shouldn't have been racing anyway because the race had been red flagged. I wonder how pissed off he was when he found that out.

He could have been an eight time world champion but for that crash. He was well on his way before that fateful British GP.

What are the dimension requirements for a track to be deemed suitable to host a GP? A couple of those turns look incredibly narrow, even by street circuit standards.

Width
When planning new permanent circuits, the track width foreseen should be at least 12 m. Where the track width changes, the transition should be made as gradually as possible, at a rate not greater than 1 m in 20 m total width. The width of the starting grid should be at least 15 m; this width must be maintained through to the exit of the fi rst corner (as indicated by the racing line). Existing circuits requesting international recognition but which are narrower, may be approved if national events have regularly been organised on them.

This is for permanent circuits, it's probably the same for street circuits.

Minimum of 12m for a permanent track, no mention of minimum width of a street track as far as I can tell.

For clarification:
An overtaking move is a pass completed from lap two of a grand prix onwards, and kept until the finish line (a position gained and then lost again before the end of the lap is not counted). Positions gained by passing cars that are off-track, in mechanical trouble, or in the pits, are not counted either.

Pretty unsightly compared to this:

Just read that the 2012 rules only bring the front bulkhead down, the nose will be forced down for 2014 so we'll only need to deal with these awful noses for 2 years.
