Do it damn it.

And Webber :D

So, was it a good race? Only know what I heard on the radio about Vettel having gearbox issues and haven't had a chance to read through any of the posts here, but willl it be worth the download?

I'm guessing "yes", if only to see Mark take his rightful place on top of the podium :)

Not really, just watch the highlights tbh.
.

Webber wining was awesome; but the race as a whole wasn't the most entertaining. Vettel's Senna comment was funny, tho.

Man that song-montage got to me at the end. Feels like the end of an era in F1, coverage-wise. Doubt I will ever get as much fun from F1 as I got in the last three years.

Won't be switching to Sky and doubt I'll go back to shitty Dutch tv coverage so will probably be stuck with the BBC highlights :{

Just watched the race.

WEBBBBBAAAAAAAAAAA.....

Webber will now steamroll 2012 with Button close behind. Trust me.
I like the cut of your jib. I'll tell you what... come time for the GAF comp, I'll gladly act as a mole of sorts, driving awesome until the last few laps of each race where I drive around the track in reverse, taking out everyone except you so that you can bring Mark's RBR to victory.
Only kidding. The Vyborg Rocket has you in his sights, motherfucker!

Watched the race on Speed. Love Varsha and Hobbs. Speed really just needs to update their intro graphics and Fox should broadcast more races over the summer before football season kicks into gear in September.

Also watched it on Speed. Its OK, the commercials and graphics kill it, but the commentary is pretty good.

All in all, good season. Sad its over, but happy with the way it turned out. One of the more entertaining in recent memory. And 5th in the fantasy league is not too bad. My goal was top 20.

In terms of coverage, we'll have 10 of the races live, which are: China (15 April), Spain (3 May), Monaco (27 May), Europe (24 June), Britain (8 July), Belgium (2 September), Singapore (23 September), Korea (14 October), Abu Dhabi (4 November), Brazil (25 November).

BBC will have more than half the schedule live because I am pretty sure that the US GP is dead for next year and who knows if Bahrain will be held.

Is there much of a pattern behind how they are spilt? I thought they were trying to get the big races for the BBC which to me would mean Germany over Europe, Japan over Korea and probably the USA in over something as it is (if it happens) the tracks first.

Fuck yeah.

Shit race, but hey. WEBBBBBBBBERRRRRRRRR.

Now to watch the post-race/Forum. I predict this to be quite a depressing watch. I just know they're going to pull a classy montage of the BBC shenanigans or something.

Bob Varsha is a terrible commentator. In fact, the whole crew is laughable. Matchett at least has some very good eyes for spotting details on the cars, but everyone else is useless. They talk about subjects in F1 and sometimes show a very shallow understanding of the sport in a lot of ways. It bothers me to no end.

And on top of that, they're all old and have very corny senses of humor. They need to get a modern driver in there and somebody with a really fresh insight into the sport, not some guys that were actually close to the sport TWENTY years ago who reguritate the popular, but often ignorant, opinion of the masses like the current crew do.

There's a reason Anthony Davidson is probably the best current commentator for F1. He's funny, he knows these people and teams, and he knows what its like to drive these machines. Coulthard is in a similar position, but I think he sometimes tries too hard to sound like he knows what he's saying at the expense of his own internal logic. Martin Brundle is a more reliable driver analyst, in my opinion, despite his slightly older POV.

Anyways, SpeedTV could do a whole hell of a lot better, but I doubt they'd ever spend a penny more for their F1 programming, which here in the States, especially considering the time of most races, probably isn't anywhere near one of their best ratings-pullers.

There is no proper end to the forum.

Shit sucks man.

They did, that's why they have Silverstone, Monaco, Brazil etc, but after the BBC chose a few, the choice for exclusives went to Sky and then alternated back and forth until all the races had been picked.

I can't help it, I'm an addict, forgive me Brit-F1 GAF, but I can't go without my F1 races live, can't! - and as much as I thought I would cope with torrents/online streams rather than manage without, it just wouldn't be the same, soooo...

Thursday AM, a Sky engineer will arrive and test whether there is LoS from the top of my house to their satellites and if so will install Sky+HD.

It feels both traitorous and glorious at the same time, sooo conflicted, I need my F1, and a HD feed in the offseason and over Christmas instead of the Freeview SD channels I've been watching is a secondary bonus.

I feel so weak to have collapsed quicker than an Aldi deck chair, but even the thought alone of not having my live F1 fix sorted would have tortured me for the whole of the offseason. :p

Probably should have waited for some deals rather than jumping straight in.

Funnily enough, my mother (In her 70s) sort of indicated she might have to get Sky... though I'm not entirely sure she knows how much it costs. Would be a bit of a struggle on her state pension.

I wont be. As much as I love the sport I'm done with watching every race now. I'll go back to watching it like I did in the early 2000s. Catching the results and sometimes watching highlights if it seems like it was an interesting race. Will be a strange change for me.

Fuckkkkk. That Kasabian montage was so good. What a great season.

I have the Forum on now... shame to hear they don't get to say a good bye.

Jake, DC and Lee being on next year is good. No word on EJ is sad, though. Come on boy, sign on.

Don't worry Sky is amazing.

So when does this banning of pro-Sky people start happening?

I see a few traitors already.

Edit: I'll definitely watch the end of the Forum on iPlayer tomorrow, then!

Unlikely, all year has been a raft of "Half price HD box or free setup" offers coming through the post, and after ringing them I managed to seal a Free HD box, Free setup and a £100 M&S voucher out of them, and the Entertainment+ pack for £30 a month, not a bad deal. (M&S voucher to placate the Mrs... hopefully, I feel I could be in for an earful when she finds out haha :p)

Ah ok, you never said you actually used a deal. Thought you'd just called up in desperation and asked them to hook it directly to your veins... :p

Oh I played the "sell it to me" game, believe me, I always barter, luckily they were not able to smell my desperation over the phone :D

(A couple of months ago I did the same thing with Virgin Media, and managed to upgrade my 10MB broadband to 30MB broadband and ended up paying less than I did for my 10MB line haha :D)

Barter FTMFW! :p

I would say that the Forum is more often than not better than the race itself, even if the race was really good. Just brilliant. EJ is a big factor in that and if he's not there next year it will be a huge loss.

As the BBC coverage is being scaled back, I'm realising how much of it is what I enjoy most, along with the racing.

I hope Sky does a good job, but I struggle to see how they'll capture what the BBC have. It's one of the best productions I've ever seen.

Yep gotta agree. The Forum and the pre-race stuff is what makes F1 so good to watch on the BBC. From what I heard the highlights are 2 hours so that would mean 10 races with no pre-race or forum right? Man that is going to be bad.

I hope Sky are taking notes and have some great people in the paddock getting some good interviews for next year.

As I type this out the F1 Forum just ended. NO IT'S NOT SUPPOSED TO END LIKE THIS! Fuck sake. How can you just cut and not go back??!! :((((

Virgin has confirmed Charles Pic will drive for the team alongside Timo Glock next season, meaning Jerome d'Ambrosio is currently without a seat for 2012.

"I'm very pleased to welcome Charles to Marussia Virgin Racing as Timo's team-mate for 2012," team principal John Booth said. "We naturally keep a close eye on the junior formulae and Charles is certainly someone we have been watching over the past few years. The real barometer however was our Young Driver Test in Abu Dhabi last week, where we put him through a series of tough tests to thoroughly evaluate his potential. This was his first time in a Formula One car so it should have been quite daunting, however Charles was extremely focused on what needed to be done and absolutely rose to the challenge. He continued to improve in every area but his race simulation work particularly caught our eye.

"Winter testing will be upon us before we know it, so it is actually a relatively short space of time ahead with a lot for Charles to get used to, but he is an extremely determined young guy and he worked very well with the team last week. He has an extremely mature head on young shoulders, so I have no doubt that he will be working very hard over the winter to prepare for his debut season.

Pic added: "I'm very happy to be making the step up to Formula One with Marussia Virgin Racing. As a driver you always feel you are ready for the next opportunity but in Abu Dhabi last week it was a tough test. The team gave me some fantastic opportunities to learn new things but I also knew that I had to impress them and show them I was ready to do a good job. I was pleased with my performance, and obviously the team were too, so a very good start but this is just the beginning and I know that a lot of hard work is ahead of me to reward this chance.

"I like the team a lot; we worked well together in the test and I feel very comfortable. They want to do things the right way and I can see that there is a lot of determination to succeed, so it is very special for me to be part of that. I'm looking forward to working hard in every area over the winter to ensure I am ready for the start of testing and my first Grand Prix."

Booth also praised d'Ambrosio for his season at the team: "I would like to take this opportunity to thank Jérôme D'Ambrosio for his hard work and important contribution to our team over the past 12 months or more. He has an exciting future to look forward to I'm sure and we wish him every success."

I think I'll get involved with Race Manager next year. Am I at a significant disadvantage if I've never "played" it before?

Not really, there isnt much to it. Just pick the best driver/engine/car etc that you can afford for each race :)

Also - finished 39th (first time doing it!) although i completely forgot about my team this week and had an extra 14m in the bank that i didnt use :(
