I think there will be some funny moments in 2012 when the SKY team bumps into the BBC team occasionally on the grid.

I think I'll get involved with Race Manager next year. Am I at a significant disadvantage if I've never "played" it before?

I dropped out of it this year because I don't like the fact you can have the best team/drivers at some point in the season. Leaves out a lot of the risk factor towards the back-end of the season.

Ah. Is there a way that (like in the way our Aussie Rules tipping works) that you can have a private competition as well as being able to compete against the world? Something like that would be good, so long as other "unofficial" rules were in place. A GAF one would probably be a nice size, too. Not a heap of people compared to the full site but still enough to keep it fun.

Seems the BBC have screwed up the forum footage on iplayer even more. Now the timer only goes up to one hour even though it continues on after that.

Yeah especially this season wtih red bull & vettel winning every race - once you got them there was nothing to play for.
A closer season would make it more fun though if you change your car depending on how well you think certain teams will do each weekend

We do have our own neogaf league in it, but it just follows the same rules as the main one

It was a power cut during the forum which messed it up, so it must just be assigned a 1 hour slot even if it wasnt actually recorded =/

I'm in next year. I only started watching F1 properly from Canada this year but it's such an amazingly geeky sport that I'm eagerly looking forward to next year already. I hope someone finds a way to create sky-player.exe ;)

When do we usually start getting info about new cars and stuff like that?

Pre-season testing starts at the start of february - So most cars will be shown for the first time around then.
Usually a few teams like to get in early, so i would expect to see a few new cars around mid Jan.

With HRT being shown on 18th March :D

I have to say I'm impressed that HRT made it to the end. Considering how much of a disgrace they were in Australia, I figured they would be gone before midseason.

God, I hope Webs can make it back-to-back victories... if only so I can see him do it in person. I just hope he works on his fucking launch technique 24/7 until then.

We're all laughing at HRT now but just wait until next season.

lol

HRT are 1000/1 to win the constructors championship! Xun called it!

We should really be fair to HRT as they have finished above virgin in the last 2 seasons.

Good to see our old leader Sub Zero in the top 10 on race manager. He did a great job with the F1/Motorsports threads but Leunam and others have more than picked up the slack in a very big way.

To be fair to them; there was a point in time when Minardi were the the butt of all jokes among F1 fans and even some of the F1 paddock and then Red Bull came along. Now we have Toro Rosso, who are consistently mid-field. They have lost their charm though.

You never know in F1, there could be a big company or car manufacturer or an established name in the motorsport industry who may see HRT as a stepping stone into F1.

Maybe even Monster who are keen to replicate Red Bull's success in motosport. Red Bull Racing versus Monster Racing could be interesting.

Is there not suppose to be new applicants to be the 13th team again this year?
I thought they were still wanting 26 cars on the grid, but last year none of the applicants were good enough.

Or am I imagining that?

F1 flexi wing ban coming in?
Rumoured that all the team heads are going to meet soon to try and get this sorted out once and for all? Maybe the Ferrari debacle of their bouncing front wing has finally made this something that teams want banned?

Craig Scarbourough is pitching idea of an optical sensor that can check for tilt and flex.

It would be way too late to put anything together for next year. I don't think there's any real interest in adding more teams, but if there were it would be for 2013 at the earliest.

Ugh, don't go there. Before you know it, we'll have Travis Pastrana and Ken Block in F1 :/
Ken Block's gymkhana stuff is pretty entertaining, although he was shown up a bit in the WRC. But at least it got people talking about rallying again. Kimi joining the WRC also helped quite a bit. I know that's not the way to develop the image of WRC (relying on superstars from other disciplines, instead on developing new stars) on a long term basis and get people watching again, but it was a start. But I digress.

On that note the Dakar Rally 2012 starts very soon. It always heralds the start of a new season of motorsport.

An energy drink fight in F1 would be hilarious.

In a sad way.

The GAF Racing Team

Haha, who would be in what position though?

I would LOVE to be one of the driver's personal engineer. I would just rage down the mic each time our nominated driver does a fuck up. F1 game-gaf knows what I'm talking about. I provide a lot of useful constructive feedback.

Leunam would have to be the team principal. No doubt

Shaneus can be our personal mascot.

DC made a great point this weekend. Sure, not every team can have the sponsors and budgeting that Red Bull gets with the infinite amount of monies, but more companies like Red Bull exist which could get more exposure by following their steps.

I still miss the beautiful rallly shots that subzero posted (and which he sadly has removed all). On the other hand, we have gained SunhiLegend's incredible (and incredibly fast-posted) gifs.

But the wing opens when you enable DRS, which makes the surface for logos and such smaller.

Well then, I guess 90% of our funding needs to go to find a solution to that, eh?
We should ask for help but all graphic designers would start posting popcorn.gifs and laughing at us for expecting them to do work for us for free.

90% of the R&D budget? Well, then I guess we should look into holograms for the free space, when the wing opens. Remember, holograms will solve everything.

And ultra thin OLED layers for animated gifs on the sidepods.

If anyone tells us it can't be done we'll just kick them off the team. We can't have 'Believe' as our motto and have sceptics.

Our car will be so slow people have time to stop and stare at the beauty of our masterpiece. Animated gifs are a must.

I'd definitely nominate Omiee as our PR man. He knows to put a positive spin on a trouble situation.

Oh without a doubt! Reserve driver should be Orgun.

I fully expect to see target renders of our car in the next couple of days with animated gifs and all.

Put me down as lead tyre changer and Lee McKenzie sexer upper. If the latter position doesn't exist I can at least play audio mixes of her talking to keep morale up as we rebuild the car after every session.

Can't believe I won, TXGM was pushing me real hard towards the end and overtook me at one point. I just hope my interest in the league and F1 in general holds for next year, as no doubt it will be harder to get excited for when you can't see half the races. :(
