HRT is awesome (from link in mclaren777 post)
Giedo can de Garde, Sam Bird and Jules Bianchi were all faster than Karthikeyan in the GP2 qualifying session held after second practice

The super-softs can take quite a beating it seems. Still nobody can know for sure how they will last on sunday. So likely we will see more overtakes than ever at Monaco. This race should not be missed.

Monaco with the cars going around the streets looks stunning in high definition.

And now long wait till Saturday FP3, where we will see real picture of power. I still think, that RBR and Mclaren were on heavy fuel loads today. Lewis seems very upbeat after free practices, which is quite unusual.

Yeah I don't think either mclaren or red bull pushed too hard today, ferrari may be blowing there load early to try to stem the growing discontent at home.

I'm not sure what to think, Alonso seemed really proud about it so it would be a disappointment if it is just another one of their premature ejaculations.

As for massa he will be fine I think he was just practising how to avoid crashes ... also I still think overtaking is going to be difficult come sunday.

Hamilton never seems super happy about the car, so that is a little interesting. If McLaren is starting to catch up it would be good for the season.

What's interesting is that he wasn't using DRS on the longer, high-fuel runs (presumably for true race simulation).

But it's definitely great to see Hamilton so happy after he seemed so depressed last year!

Ferrari have produced a car that has good mechanical grip, most of us expected them to be stronger at this race. Their practice times in both sessions confirm their pace for this weekend, it wasn't a glory run that we saw today.

The 'throttle over-run' noise is unsurprisingly a lot more noticeable at Monaco, the Renault sounds like it is spitting out chunks of fuel as it goes through Mirabeau

I think Hamilton seems happy because like Button (and actually a lot of drivers that have won on this circuit) it's just a special track to him so maybe that it...maybe, plus he's a danger junkie.

I found the perfect picture for Saturday and/or Sunday.

Yeah, i just hope they do not blunder like they did with Jenson last year :D

Both drivers limited DRS use on long runs and when they used it, it was on start-finish line. FP2 was for tyre evaluation, so FP3 will bring some more answers to real pace. Also, there are almost 2 seconds still to be found on this track.

Also, no low fuel runs from Renault in FP1 or FP2. Which is very strange.

McLaren was very poor in general at Monaco last year :(

This weekend should see the most exciting Monaco race/qualifying in years! Even more so if it rains.

Renault is totally off the pace here, low fuel will save nothing.

Podiums will be totally unpredictable i think unless somebody will emerge as significantly faster on fp3/quali, all comes down to pitstop strategy (so probably no ferrari on podium lol)

And now you've gone and jinxed it.

Massa 1st place confirmed.

It'll probably be his best race so far, and should boost his confidence a bit, if he can get closer to Alonso this weekend.
*ends up 3rd in quali, Alonso is two positions behind him*
"Hey, maybe I don't suck. Maybe I'm really better now ..."
*gets passed during his first pit stop*
"I suck, I suck, I suck, I suck, I suck, where can I park my car this time? I suck, I suck ..."

which I found very very strange, becuse they were the most optimistic from all the teams. Also, this is almost Renault home race.

GP2 race stream: http://www.justin.tv/freddyfanz#/w/1259897456

10 laps to go.

Safety car now.

Weird shit happening in that race.

One car lost a wing, which then dropped from the air onto the rear tire of the car behind him. Puncture.
Also the iSport drivers crashing each other in the walls twice.

edit: And a pigeon who refused to get out of the way until the very last second. :')

I've never watched GP2 other than that video, and they all look like absolute amateurs.

I was expecting epic pile-ups, but it was just bad driving and stupid choices.

Looks really slow compared to F1, too, as a sidenote.

This year's roster isn't as strong as previous years.

Most accidents happened because the guy in front was trying to create a gap (which is why the cars looked slow). Which is acceptable, but to do it as far back as the swimming pool while consistently staying on the racing line is borderline retarded and asking for incidents.

Even practice is so exciting because of monaco. Watching the cars just missing the barriers is so awesome, and theres always cars close to each other because of the short track length.

That's why he's a double world champion :p

Terrible driving by pretty much everyone in GP2 qualifying. I think I saw some teammates take each other out too.

At least F1 has more safety cars ahead of it.
