Tour de France spoiler:
an Aussie won the TdF.
I wonder if that will inspire Webber at all? It's no secret he's a massive fan of cycling, I wouldn't be surprised if it gives him a boost.

And Alonso, make me like you for once and crash into Vettel. Thanks.
I think that Vettel will break under immense home GP pressure and he will make something stupid in first corner

Come on Webber you beautiful bastard. :D

Bit surprised by the talk of Pirelli making their tyres last longer... thus undoing all of the great changes their tryes brought to the season so far?

Blame the idiots complaining that Pirelli can't make durable tyres... thus missing the point completely.

I think it's more Pirelli's fault for listening to those idiots, to be honest. Anyone who knows anything about their tyres knows that F1 wanted them that way.
It's not that they're "listening" to them, it's that (as was expected at the start of all of this) if too many people start saying things like that then there's a chance the Pirelli brand gets damaged.

I mean, who would want to buy Pirelli tyres? After only half an hour they fall to bits!

Its more about trying to avoid the current situation of drivers only doing one qualifying run then sitting in the garage or not being able to push for more then a 2laps in a race without destroying the tyres.

At times pirelli have overshot and have left drivers in a situation where if they try to overtake the car in front they will lose too much time when the tyres go off early so they don't bother.

There is already a insane lap time gap between the race and qualifying which makes the sport seem artificially slowed down.

Yeah, I think that is starting to worry Pirelli, and fair enough I guess.

You'd have to be a complete idiot to think racing tyres and regular road tyres are the same thing at the best of times, even before they artificial make them degrade quicker.
Any time Pirelli is mentioned during the BBC coverage they say great job, can't see how it's bad PR.

Shareholders and, lets face it, about 90% of the population are complete idiots. In a rational world, it shouldn't be a problem. As you say, they are doing exactly what has been asked, and doing it very well. But that is not the sound bite that everyone will take away from a 15 second news report about the F1 results. I hope they do leave the tyres fast degrading, but I can also understand their concerns.

Not really. Once they lost Pat Fry it was inevitable that they would suffer and Ferrari would improve.
The main irony at Ferrari would be that Fry 'unlocked' all the potential that Costa implemented into this years car, but failed to make it work.

Also, rain at the circut at the moment, track is soaking wet on GP3 race... there will be some dry periods, but more rain will come on afternoon.

Another wet/dry race then.

Tim o'Glock will stay at Virgin until the end of 2014 season.

Question - what kind of cooperation will Virgin have with Mclaren? Force India like?

On GP2 race, racing line looks quite dry, but rest of the track is wet. It is not raining at the moment. Romanian stream is very fun to listen.

Also, 12 degrees celsius is air temperature at this moment, with heavy rain approaching. With these temperatures, Ferrari will be in big trouble.

Looks like a wet race with the air temperature around 10 degrees celsius. Not sure if I want a wet race. Hopefully Vettel doesn't finish the race, just to make it more exciting :)

I'm predicting a good race for McLaren & Mercedes then.
The Mercedes always overheats the rear tyres which in today's conditions will help them and McLaren always seems to be the quickest in nearly wet, dry conditions.

Guaranteed SC start then if its wet.

Looks like Todt's wish to have in-season testing return are going to happen.
Not exactly the way Ferrari would have wanted it (unlimited & whenever).
3 days testing before European leg of races with young, development drivers.

Ferrari doesn't like the cold?
They have problems with heating up tyres in cold weather

I was speaking more about between Friday and Saturday. Even Hamilton was surprised.
Probably new parts are working as they should, and Lewis used right set-up. Button probably messed it up.

...at the expense of three days of pre-season testing. Looks like a decent compromise.
