It will be an interesting race, I mean RBR would have been in more poop if they hadn't broken the curfew so it seems like a good move. However I assumed it was for the benefit of both cars.? Anyway it will be interesting to see what the Mclarens do at the start because they can either end up helping each other or hindering one another (then again Jenson has had poor starts lately) then there's Massa who has been making great starts but them being wasted with nowhere to go. Also it's kind of depressing to see Mercedes slip back again off the pace.

Jenson to KERS into Vettel, Lewis wins the race!

I thought Hamilton and Alonso were going to pip Vettel there. Looks like I was right earlier when I said Vettel will use this weekend to try and put claims he's cracking to bed.

Disappointed the subject of Sky was avoided completely. If it's not discussed tomorrow I won't be happy.

The 5 Live team were openly talking about it yesterday at Practice 1 and 2 so it's not like the BBC is trying to hide it.

If Brundle does see Bernie on his Grid walk what is he going to say to him? Why let Sky broadcast F1? Bernie will just say because your bosses at the BBC want to cut down on their own spending.

I know the BBC aren't trying to hide it, but it's a big issue and to not discuss it is pretty ridiculous. I particularly want to hear what EJ and Brundle think about the issue.

how much money is given to the team that wins the constructors championship?

£404 million was split between the teams last year. Virgin got £17m for tenth position (11th & 12th get none), I'd guess the winner gets around £100m.

I didn't realise they would've raced together in Formula 3, that's awesome.

Paul Di Rests also raced against Vettel in F3 Euro in 2006, beating him to the championship that year in the same car.

lol wtf, seriously we need a espn for formula1.
i want to see stats like how many overtakes hamilton has in his carreer.
how many crashes vettel had, etc etc etc.

Forix.com is good for stats, again it'll cost. But I think it comes free with an autosport+ sub.

Just checked £46 p/a for an autosport+ sub Forix included.

In answer to many tweets no you won't hear much from us re future TV deals this w/end. Our job is to tell F1 story, not talk about ourselves

I've 2 exciting race drives lined up for 2012, but absolutely no idea what will happen re F1 TV and don't expect to for weeks or even months

I'm glad the BBC is just getting on with it. The last thing anyone wants is less Formula 1 at the moment as for a lot of people this will be the last full season they watch live for a while (if ever).

Clip the Apex also has a good stats section from what I've read, requires registration though.

I'm waiting for my confirmation email, but will post thoughts when I get in.

Don't worry, it's fake.

Jenson Button in "critical condition" following road crash.

http://www.f1fanatic.co.uk/2011/07/30/jenson-button-critical-condition-road-crash/

Jenson Button’s website has issued a statement saying the driver is in a “critical condition” following a road crash in Budapest.

“Jenson Button, 31, is in a critical condition after being involved in a serious accident. Jenson was taken to Budapest’s AEK hospital where he is undergoing medical attention. It’s unclear what injuries Jenson sustained during the accident at this time.

“Jenson’s team is in contact with the FIA and currently discussing whether he is able to race tomorrow at the Hungaroring.”

Yeah, hacking was my first thought after looking at the story given a few oddities:

1) Posting a picture of the crashed car so soon after the incident - when the outcome of the injuries are unknown.
2) No one else mentioning the story.
3) 'critical condition' but yet 'currently discussing whether he is able to race tomorrow at the Hungaroring'

Seems like they weren't even trying to make it convincing.

just read in yesterday's express that the BBC were paying £40m a year for F1 rights, and will now pay £17m a year. Plus production savings (although I expect they offset a lot of the production costs through sub licensing their buildup/commentary to other countries).

Thats chicken feed for a corporation that collects over £3.5bn in TV license revenue, in return for some of the best viewing figures they get on the channel - Canadian GP was the 5th most viewed program on TV that week - not even just on BBC, across *all* TV.

You look at how many hours of coverage they get with qualifying, live races and highlights, and that has to be value for money whatever way the BBC measures it.

It's raining again at the track. Great news for Hamilton and those on dirty side of the grid.

Cold and wet today. Perfect conditions for McLaren to win, which Alonso has predicted.

Is it great news for Lewis? With the setup he was running yesterday he seemed to have much less rear downforce than the cars around him. Not what you want for wet weather racing.

I don't think anyone gambled on the weather, but it should make for some exciting racing. And if it says wet, Vettel definitely won't win.

It doesn't suit his car, though.
I'm not sure anyone is specifically set up for wet running this weekend though, and last time out in the wet (Silverstone) he was pulling out a lead of over a second a lap.

Edit - Though that was only on inters. He was pretty good at Canada too, though he didn't push hard enough when he was out in front.

I really hope that race will not start under Safety Car. I hate that.
Be tough luck for Webber if it did! Two poles and two dry starts. First SC start in a while and he's starting 6th.

He was brilliant in Korea last year until his car blew up as well. Vettel can handle the rain just fine.
