Looks like total Red Bull domination this weekend.

Vettel sets fastest lap on 3rd lap of option tyres when on heavier fuel load than the rest of the front runners.

The smog is disgraceful. You can barely see from one end of the straight to the other.
Not helping again is the bad attendance.

Seriously, why doesn't China bus in 50k people and have them fill the stands for the weekend???

Did a few laps of China on F1 2010 today just so I would know the track layout better and be able to identify where people are on the track easily and yep, the track is still shit.

Just did the same thing, and even in the game it's depressing when you turn a corner and have massive blue grandstands filled by big white letters instead of people.

That first corner as well, holy fuck it's bad. Everything that's good about first corner at Sepang was just pissed all over and morphed into that abomination.

I had a lot of fun doing 20 or so laps of Sepang in the game last week, I just quit after half a dozen with Shanghai.

Hmm, weird practices. And that smog, it can't be good for anyone, spectators and drivers.

That said, what's everyone betting on for the league? RBR looks to dominate. I think i will go Ren/FI or maybe Mer/STR, still undecided.

The first corner is my second to favourite corner in all of F1, second to Suzuka's T1. Both are heavy trailbrake corners. Good for honing setup and driver skills. I don't know if the absolute tremendous requirement of skill trailbraking requires is translated well to arcade'y games like F1 2010, but with a wheel, rFactor, no aids and good mods, it's both fantastic fun and a corner to fear. At any rate, the training paid off when I got from P4 to P1 at that corner during the last race at this track in my F1 sim league.

I remember the time I spent about 20 hours training for a race here. Safe to say I know the track and I've definitely done the exact same thing Heidfeld did in P1 some times.

Watching FP1 on iplayer - dat smog! I love how Ted keeps choking on the dust
It's terrible, everyone's going to come away from it with their lives somewhat shortened.

Judging by practice times (lol, I know) it looks like HRT might be pulling away from Virgin.
That's crazy talk.

Having lived in the Pacific Northwest for most of my life, where the air is crystal clear 99% of the time, I'm disgusted by the pollution in Shanghai.

That was inevitable. In fact, it's only a matter of time before HRT starts to consistently outperform Lotus.

I have an rFactor league race tomorrow morning at Shanghai and even after 90 minutes of working on my setup, I still dislike the layout of this track.

yeah, whatever they calculate on their computer clusters in their labs - it certainly has no real world application

Webber only did 5 laps? That can't be good... can it?
Webber hasn't had much luck but this race is Vettel's to lose anyway. Let's hope Webber wakes the fuck up and gets a podium though.

Holy shit that's you Shaneus. Damn avatar changes...

Aside from KERS not working, Webber had brake issues.

Anyway, Quali looks to be a Vettel lockout again unless if Hamilton wakes up. Button again seems to be very consistent. Maybe he isn't as quick on pure pace as Hamilton, but he is showing that he can keep it going.

Outside of the RBR/McLaren battle, Mercedes seems to want to laim 3rd team spot for this race with Rosberg especially strong. Ferrari and Renault appear to be about even on pace too, so 5th to 10th should be the spots to watch in quali.

Lulz award goes to Virgin for their magical disintegrating front wing. D'Ambrosio rides a kerb a bit to hard and it falls apart by the vibration force along, oops!

At the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach earlier today.....

Sato also gave me a high five when I told him that I loved the way he overtook Alonso back in the Canadian GP..... That would be my fuck yeah of the month lol

guys! I'm watching the Formula 1 qualyfying session on BBC sport TV right now! This is the VERY first time I'm watching a live broadcast of a formula 1 event on TV. I'm very happy to be among you F1 fans. After playing F1 2010 from Codies, I just HAD to see what I've been missing!

C'mon let's all sit around the virtual TV in the virtual living rooms and crack a open a beer!

*high fives all the fellow F1 bros in the virtual living room*

*high five*

On a similar note, this is my first GP watching the newly available BBC 1 HD on Freeview HD (Sandy Heath went Digital only this week so I bought a new Freeview HD box), it looks incredible!

Anyway, rain maybe for tomorrow, Webber's car needs work and will RBR get KERS working? Interesting qualifying incoming!

Edit: I love the new BBC graphics for the lap charts.

Wow at how empty the stands are. How many more years does Shanghai have left on the race calendar?
until 2018, plus whatever else they pay Bernie for before he dies. :(

Edit: So... um... does anyone have a good stream for qualy?

Renault trying to deafen the BBC crew with that engine check.

Also, HD has revealed that the BBC uses Sennheiser mics. (Yes, I am enjoying the huge detail increase, can't wait to see the cars out on track).

Very exciting times! Darn I wish the race was today :( I'm dying to see these guys go at it! Also just discovered that this Hamilton guy is the first black dude to race F1. Pretty cool!
