So, I've decided that to work out where I want to go on holiday in the future, I'll go somewhere there's an F1 event. Is anyone able to tell me what the the best spectator events would be in the next year or two?

Don't say Melbourne, though... unless it really is that good. I still haven't been there and it's only an hours drive away :(

Wouldnt Spa be the first choice? ;)

The fact that its being alternated by 2013 means next year is your last chance for awhile :/
My vote would be Spa, but I don't know if it would be the best spectator event though.

The F1 GAFfers should organise some kind of international meetup at a track one year. That would be pretty awesome, I'd think. Only problem is, I think there are a lot of students, parents and people with not much disposable income (unlike myself).

Unemployed student ftw.

Everyone would vote to the place nearest to them. Cheaper. :p

I would be certainly up for that.

We should pick a race with cheap tickets, and fly for the weekend. I have been planning on going to an F1 race for a while and having a GAF meet-up would be the icing on the cake.

Anyway, while not the best track in the world, just by being at night Singapore is worth it in my view. The cars just look gorgeous in the floodlights.

Not always. The British GP would mean I didn't have to fly, but the ticket prices are horrendous.

haha i actually have no real desire to see a race "live" at the track
just doesn't seem that exciting to me
A few years ago, I would have agreed with you.

Now though, I have changed my mind. I have been to Silverstone 3 times in 2 years (BTCC and the Renault World Series) and to multiple BTCC events and I love the excitement and atmosphere of a race day, even in lower series of racing. Yes, F1 is more expensive but I want to be there for a race weekend, if only once.

offshore sailing

I agree, i love watching racing here in holland at the circuit of assen. I actually been to a trackday or 4 with my own car.

But with f1, id rather be at home because there is so much going on.
Cant wait for monaco though, will be the 4th time i will go to monaco in 5 years. Helps that my brother lives in beau soleil which is 5 meter away from monaco to the north.

Lucky bastard!

Anyway, as always your gifs are amazing SunhilLegend. I do like the idea that it may rain tomorrow. The BBC just reported a 40% chance so that should mix things up a bit.

Holy crap! Whoever hasn't been to an F1 race is seriously missing out! I've been to every Melbourne gp since '96 and the last Adelaide gp in '95 and I couldn't imagine not going! It's the weekend I look forward to most every year!!

Shaneus, if you've never been to the grand prix in melbourne, buy yourself a ticket to the Waite stand, fastest corner on the track. GO!

yeah its between RBR and mclaren for poll.
Indeed it does seem to be now.

Nice to see Button quick, and that Vettel hasn't had the entire session his own way. Qualifying will possibly still be the Vettel show, but I'm hopeful for a bit of a mix up at the top.

it's going to be a comfortable vettel pole

yeah i think so, hamilton not able to make his tires work.
its between vettel and webber, vettel just did not have it his way this session.
he was a bit frustrated at the end shaking his fist, he's normally quite relax.

Yeah, he didn't managed to get a clean lap on the SS.

I like the idea of going to an F1 race to see the cars fly around fast, but that's the only appealing aspect.

The price and fact I'd see one corner means I'll probably never do it. Give me 1000 camera angles and the BBC crew any day.

Trust me you need to go one time while they still have the V8s to hear that unfiltered power and noise sans speakers. You won't be sorry.

You also don't get a sense of just how violent the cars are. I could feel the downshifts at the hairpin in Canada.

edit: Almost forgot about the wonderful aroma of F1 too. Smells so good... <3

edit: Oh yeah, the buzz before a GP and the excitement of the crowd and all the support races.

These are the reasons why I want to see them again in Austin.

You really should go :D

Believe me monaco, in an apartment with commentary from the tv, watching it on a balcony.
is just epic, one of the best experiences i have ever had.

McLaren telling Hamilton to be more aggressive... yes! :D

Lewis does make a good point that he might've ended up off the track if he pushed harder last week, though.

Hope we get a fight like that tomorrow.

agreed on everything, it's all about the SOUND. Which is something tv will never be able to reproduce. It is savage.

Well, nearly time for Qualifying and the continuation of the Sebastian Vettel show? Almost time to find out.
