Wake up to find vettel got pole again, thats the good news.

But what the fuck happened to Webber during his hot lap? There must have been an error during that lap.
He messed up either 'spoon' or 130R, he was fast after two sectors

Damnit. I bet that from where he's starting, he gets a good start. A start that could win him a race if he was on the front row.

Will still watch the race anyway (obviously), especially considering that the time is rather kind to us Australians :)

.009 of a second away from pole?! Seriously?!

That's just ridiculous :lol

That's nothing.

Jerez 1997, the top 3 posted identical lap times.

During the qualifying session, held on Saturday October 25 to determine the starting order for the race, three cars set identical times, the first time this had happened in the history of the world championship.[2] Jacques Villeneuve was first to set a time of 1:21.072, fourteen minutes into the one hour session. A further fourteen minutes later, Michael Schumacher posted an identical time. With nine minutes of the session remaining, Heinz-Harald Frentzen crossed the line, again with a time of 1:21.072. Under the regulations of the Formula One world championship, in the event of drivers setting equal times in qualifying, the first driver to set the time is given precedence.

Oh I know, I remember Jerez '97 but right when it looks like a non-RBR car is going to get pole, Vettel still gets pole by .009 :lol

Is that Lewis' fault for dawdling too much before his hot-lap? Is that McLaren's fault for not telling him to get a move on? It's certainly not Webber's or Schumacher's fault. This whole situation could be so easily avoided with simple time management. You have 10 minutes - leaving everything to the very last second may theoretically earn you about a tenth, but it's also asking for trouble.

100% his fault. the team told him to push and not let any other driver pass him, but he slowed down to fiddle with his knobs and got mugged at the chicane.

Schuey:

Hamilton was a bit stupid to slow

"I was coming into the chicane, I looked in the mirror and saw Mark diving inside me.

i also noticed he moved twice across to the right when he realised webber was steaming up the inside...

Hamilton admitted he was surprised by the situation, as he believes Webber's and Schumacher's moves were dangerous.

lol

i'm hoping for a massa/hamilton punch up at turn 1 when they take each other off.

Pictures like this make me hate hamilton.
Yes you could have been higher up but you're 3rd on the grid on the clean side of the track - at least pose for the photo properly.

You mean that you hate someone for not faking their emotions? I'd rather see a driver express how they really feel rather than fake it to please the media. He was the same at Turkey last year.

If his real emotion is petulance, it is not exactly a point in his favour... and those sunglasses are ridiculous.

.

This isn't true, he clearly see's Mark and pulls the left before the apex of the chicane to avoid an accident. It may have been what forced Schumacher onto the grass. I haven't seen Schumi's onboard so I couldn't say for certain.

I feel sorry for Hamilton more than anything. He always manages to find himself in these incidents be by accident or poor judgement. The problem is even if these things happen outside of his control people point the finger and have a go at him for it because of the few times he has actually made a poor decision out on track.

One tiny error on the race track can have massive implications for a long time following said error. There's so many people throwing around their opinions in and the media pressure ratchets up with every race. The difficulty for Hamilton must be that he only gets a nominal time on track (say >7 hours per race weekend) where he can actually try to alleviate some of the pressure that has mounted for the preceding couple of weeks before a race. It must be incredibly hard to focus if you're involved in a succession of incidents race after race.

It didn't cross my mind until watching qualifying this morning that what Hamilton is really missing is an arm around his shoulder from Ron Dennis. Since Ron stepped down and Whitmarsh took the reins Lewis hasn't really had a good time of things. Their relationship was instrumental to Hamilton's being in F1 and maybe now he's missing Dennis's calming experience now more than ever.

Well i hope red bull manages to find something before next season starts because we all know mclaren have better race pace, so if they are this close in qualy they are going to be making it hard on red bull.

I thought the moment when Button playfully beat up Vettel's arm in the weigh in area was great. You can tell he's really loving life right now.

(Someone with skillz gif it!)

Just when I wanted to complain, the iPlayer started working. Time to watch the qualifying. Maybe it helps with my hangover.

Will I rage hard?

Its not faking your emotions, its just good sportsmanship. All he had to do was put his arm round Vettel & post properly for the photo for about 10 seconds.

I like it as much as anyone when an F1 driver says how they really feel rather than giving us some media friendly bs, but things like this are just childish

It is:

Hamilton clearly moves his car twice across the track when he clocks Webber in his mirror. And he says that Webber came out of nowhere - lol, the guy is full of shit.

Hamilton should have never dropped his father from the management side.

I've heard this said a few times but I go back to my point that Ron Dennis is really what Hamilton is missing. He was in the business for nearly 30 years and looked after some pretty temperamental characters. Just look at who he's had driving for him over the years; Lauda, Prost, Senna, Hakkinen, Raikkonen, Montoya, Alonso and of course Hamilton.

He has a gift for managing and getting the best out of talented drivers.

So he goes right to signal that he wants to stay in front, which is fair enough as he wants clean air for his hot lap, then goes to take the corner and Mark slips up the inside. Just because its not as you see it doesn't make him full of shit.

Yeah. Vettel may be about to win the WC but Button is probably in the best form of his life right now. He's been racing really well, he's even managing to qualify properly recently and he's hungry to avenge Vettel winning the WC this quickly.

If the McLaren 2012 car is actually decent from the off, Button will be one to watch.

Buttons been a revelation for me since he joined Mclaren especially this year. I was one of the people who categorised him as one of the worst champions and doubted he would be able to challenge Hamilton. But since joining Mclaren his become one of my favourite drivers. His had awesome drives and he is clearly out performaning Hamilton on a regular basis, something I thought would never happen.

So moving twice to cut up one driver and quickly moving left to force another one off is fair? The guy is a track menace and a serial liar.

BBC:
I was entering the last corner and Mark came out of nowhere.

Full of shit, which he confirms in a different interview:

Autosport:
I was coming into the chicane, I looked in the mirror and saw Mark diving inside me.

Where do you expect him to go when Webber is coming through on the inside?

untitledg7s4.gif

i6SKhSB7xUFSr.gif

He's ahead and is trying to keep his position in front of Mark. Once he realizes that Mark isn't going to slow down and instead drive up on his right he breaks and stays left as to not lose his front wing. The only mistake Lewis made was not parking his car on the inside completely to keep both Mark and Shumi behind going into the chicane. He was being way too cautious and it cost him the lap. The guy just can't find the right balance.

I wish Mark had as many reasons to be happy as Button is right now :(

PS. I don't get why everyone was cutting it so fucking close to the end of Q3. Would it have hurt anyone to go out 60 seconds earlier?

Awesome! You got the decals done quick.
Hamilton makes never mistakes. In Singapore it was Massa's fault and in Spa it was Kobayashi and Schumacher was such a douche in Monza.
Neither Hamilton nor Kobayashi thought it was Koba's fault.

I stream the footage using the bbc iplayer to watch BBC 1 live, much better quality than the bbc f1 page, almost identical to sdtv. I keep fraps, a converting program and Photoshop open. When an incident occurs or an important move taking place I press the F9 button to record in half the resolution, use the converting software to make the file an mp4 then load into Photoshop to create the gif with my settings saved. I have the routine down to a tee which means it takes less than a minute to capture, convert and upload the gif to the internet.
I used to watch the races in HD in my living room but there was too many distractions so I prefered to watch in my room and thats how I started with the the gifs.

In quali build up today DC and EJ went through Hamilton's incidents this year and showed that KK turned in on Hamilton at Spa.

Guys on Speed didn't discuss it. If they did after Spa I missed it. :/

Ahhh i thought you were using some expensive capture cards or something. :p

That sounds like what i would do too.
Good thing i can watch the HD footage with no distractions.

I could quote some reactions from many users here. And the first interview from Hamilton was clearly against Kobayashi, he corrected it later, that's correct.

It was a mistake from Hamilton, without discussion. And alone without Spa and Singapore he would have more points than Button.

Unfortunately I live with 4 other people who have absolutely no interest in F1 which makes it impossible for me to watch the 3-4 hours of F1 in the living without someone trying to change the channel.
