The HYPE has begun

Gaga's manager:
Herbert told That Grape Juice: "Just insane, great records. She's on tour right now, but it's just going to be a great record."

"Look out for the unexpected, when it comes to her - I'm very excited. We're doing it on the road right now, so it's very hard, but it's going to be great."

Ehh, all bias aside, I wouldn't put too much stock into this. I mean, she started the hype train for BTW (talking about it non-stop, playing a stripped-down version of "You and I" at venues) damn-near a year before we actually heard the first single.

Don't worry it's only because you've got endorphins or something. You could even listen to Rihanna right now and like i...hmm wait.

I could see stanning back in the I Kissed a Girl era or the California Gurls/Teenage Dream/Firework era, but now? Part of Me and Wide Awake are both shitty, and One that Got Away wasn't much better.

I agree. The last three KP songs have been shit.

She peaked with E.T.

A singles artist having shitty singles...not a good look.

Nor should you be.

I've never liked the trend of releasing a dozen singles off of one album, so for Katy to release four big chart toppers is good enough for me.

Teenage Dream, TGIF, California Girls, and Firework are great songs. Simple and relatively clean pop fluff. I doubt Perry will ever release a string of singles like that again.

Gurls theyre only playing Katy Perry's songs up in my gym right now...

I think im stanning...

Help! :S

Doesn't it feel good to be wide awake?

I don't see the problem? Don't fight it. It's some her best work to date.

"California Gurls" was the last time I could honestly stan for Katy.

This treachery has been noted.

All these great songs were all the help of Dr Fluke and Max Martin. Now that Katy cant work with them anymore she will keep milking every single left over hit that they made for her.

(I still stan for Waking up in Vegas IDC IDC IDC)

California Gurls was one of my main 2010 summer jams honestly. I had a Jeep so I would always honk my horn when the lyric "we freak in my Jeep" would play haha. Good times.

Personally I think all 5 singles off of Teenage Dream were great jams, though TGIF was the beginning of her downturn. Hope she bounces back next album (in terms of singles, I don't buy her albums lawl).

Edit: Kyon Waking Up in Vegas was great too. No shame.

Had some decent songs but she's void of a personality as an artist. To have such a boring, anonymous star get #1s after #1s is indicative of a real lack of real star power. Hard to complain about anything Gaga does when we've got KP.

Correction: Katy CAN work with Max Martin. She cant work with Dr. Luke anymore tho.

Same goes for Britney and Rihanna too, actually.

The TEA

False, Godney is Sony. Rihanna is Def Jam. So Ke$ha can still work with him too. He can only work with Sony artists. And the only notable ones he works with are those two. And his posse hoe Sabi.

Ch....nobody here for Sabi.

My Queen is also a Sony artist
Not that I want her sampling that tired-ass sound, though
.

Hopefully that Dr. Fluke restriction will force Godney to work SOLELY with the real GODS OF POP Bloodshy & Avant.

I don't know if I'm here for this tea. What's their recent output been like? *checks receipts*

Favorite tracks from Femme Fatale ("How I Role", "Trip To Your Heart"), Favorite Tracks from Blackout, Crystal Kay and Kylie albums...

Ok, I'll sip some of this tea.

Like ITZ said GOD's OF POP. Their best works(the majority) have always been Britney tracks. Especially leftovers that never made the cut.

I just can't get into this Mehrina and the Diamonds chick. The girl seems to have an identity crisis or something

Her problem in a nutshell, honestly. The talent is there, but her MO seems to be taking bits and pieces from all of our faves, throwing them into a pot, and stewing them down into a reduction.

Oh, and apparently at some point in the last 24 hours Florence + The Machine released a video to "Spectrum" (One of my least favorite tracks on the album, to be honest).

Verdict:
yDflU.gif

Seems like she's trying to recreate the random, left-field brilliance of the "Dog Days" video, but with a bigger budget and even less concept. Overall, a David LaChapelle Mess.

(When did David LaChapelle videos become such flops?)

Not into that Mehrina gurl tbh.

I did try. Since there's been plenty of hype around her.

But she just comes off to me as a pretentious, high-concept Katy Perry.

And Im not here for that tbh.

Didn't someone make a topic saying Florence was the "voice of the new generation." I couldn't even post in that thread...

I mean, they even posted a video as evidence. Unfortunately she was slayed by xtina and JHud in the same vid.

The Aretha Tribute? Gurl...that performance only really showed how dull Florence's vocals become when she has to share the stage.

Yes, that one!

It seems like some people are still tripping off that dog days high, because Florence isn't the voice of anyone's year, yet alone generation.

If you don't think Florence has an amazing voice, you're just wrong and need to completely reevaluate your standards. She may not have the Best Voice Of All Time, but she has a fucking great voice.

I don't think she's a bad singer, but she can be very one note. It usually takes a great backing arrangement to make her shine.
