2 is more than enough plus less waste of silicon.
They never were.
Consoles are not really needed anymore tbh.

New Ambassador program getting readied after price shock.wait, what's the logic here? 3DS which was cheaper than Switch is somehow going to be outsold by Switch 2 which hasn't even met DS numbers?
By partnering with NvidiaHow to make a technological leap when the company is powered by cel shading my friend.
What year is it?? 2020~2021??I'd agree if PC gaming wasn't so obnoxiously expensive now.
I can see that. They never were.
I wouldn't say it's defending MS. They clearly stste they failed with Xbox Series and don't say "they stood no chance ".The entire thing is a piece defending Xbox. it is bullcrap. There is plenty of room for three consoles, we didn't have a problem for a decade.
This is just a classic "Xbox failed because they stood no chance", a way to make excuses for Xbox's failings. There will be a new console to replace Xbox, and if they play their cards right they will get support.
GB to GBA was a successful transition.Has Nintendo ever had two successive generations of success when it comes to hardware install base? Seems like they're always hot and cold with hardware sales since the NES, but pretty solid with software.
If history repeats itself the Switch 2 may falter behind if it's just a Suped-up Switch with not much else going for it.
With Sony, it's clear they're returning to the handhold market according to the Bloomberg report from last month, and after the success of the Portal, they'd be stupid not to capitalise on it with a hybrid console/handheld + multi-SKU model for PS6.
Next generation will be a battle of philosophy, where the winner will be decided by how the market shifts. Will they go full digital with Microsoft's 'everything is an Xbox' strategy, or will they stick to what they know with mobile gaming & dedicated consoles?
The Switch 2 seems to be very much a faster Switch 1, will have to wait to see what the special surprise is.By partnering with Nvidia
Bahahaha!!!!!Consoles are not really needed anymore tbh.
It's not.Okay my guy, why is a PC needed for gaming?
It's not.
Even during a down period for Nintendo they still moved ~90 million units when you combine 3DS and WiiU. Historical trends for Nintendo consoles don't matter since they consolidated their hardware.wait, what's the logic here? 3DS which was cheaper than Switch is somehow going to be outsold by Switch 2 which hasn't even met DS numbers?
I'd love for there to be an oddball twist or two, but not sure the market really requires it.The Switch 2 seems to be very much a faster Switch 1, will have to wait to see what the special surprise is.
Did Sega had trillion dollars? You mean, like SEGA?
Yeah, it could be that they've allowed the Switch to stagnate for so long that it's no longer on people's radar, and we're heading for another Wii U.It's an interesting report, but their Switch 2 hardware sales are wayyyyy too optimistic.
To build engines, assets and provide the best possible gaming experiences.Okay my guy, why is a PC needed for gaming?
no 18+ mods without PC.Okay my guy, why is a PC needed for gaming?
PS doesn't rely on the appeal of its hardware as much as Nintendo does. Why is it lower? All PlayStation consoles are just stronger than their predecessor without any "this is new" factor and they still sell very good.
I would argue that three consoles weren't possible this gen, but look, there used to be like 10 competing PC platforms. At least. Eventually by the mid 1990s there was only one. This is the inexorable tendency towards monopoly in this economic system.I'm not clear why they conclude that only 2 consoles are possible next gen, when 3 consoles were possible this gen, and last gen, and the one before that... They don't say what will change that suddenly makes 3 consoles implausible.
I'm also stumped by their inability to say which of the two, MS or Sony, is most likely to struggle in the console space next gen. That seems pretty obvious.
Switch is having a much slower decline than what the Wii did and the next platform will have several advantages over the Wii U.Yeah, it could be that they've allowed the Switch to stagnate for so long that it's no longer on people's radar, and we're heading for another Wii U.
I can't remember the last time I picked up my Switch - not since Tears of the Kingdom, I think. It's sitting in the dock, fully charged, but my daughter played maybe 20 minutes of Mario Kart this year.
Switch 2 is going to need some killer launch games for me to consider an upgrade.
Consoles are not really needed anymore tbh.
The Last Ninja 4 as launch title. 20 million sold day 1."System 3" will probably be Valve's Steam console
More optimized than today as no time and money wasted on console versions. If we think so many games nowadays are unoptimized pieces of trash, i cant even imagine how awful a world with just pc's as baseline would be like
We go through this wording shit every single gen.
More optimized than today as no time and money wasted on console versions.
@HeisenbergFX4
That new Microsoft console in time for gta6, that side loads steam allowing you to play Playstation games as well.

You obviously are a Nintendo hater but the answer is: Mario kart 9, Mario Odyssey 2, new smash Bros, etc. why upgrade from PS4 to PS5?Why should I exchange my cartoon gaming handheld for another but more expensive one ?

This post reminds me the Switch 1 reveal threadWhy should I exchange my cartoon gaming handheld for another but more expensive one ?
Neither does Xbox. They found out the hard way after buying Activision and saw the bottom of the warchest.Did Sega had trillion dollars?
Same reason people exchange their realistic gaming box for other, more expensive gaming boxes. Why should I exchange my cartoon gaming handheld for another but more expensive one ?
Indeed, because it fills a gap. PlayStation covers the core console, Nintendo the mobile/younger base, PC is everyone else plus the other two sprinkled in.Nintendo releases underwhelming tech

Because they don't want to predict the future? What if Microsoft buys Valve, and they next Xbox runs steam and allows you to play PS games on it? Not saying it will happen, but no one can guarantee it won't either.Weird article.
I mean right now Sony and Nintendo are the dominant consoles and go after different markets and each do well in their respective areas but Xbox is clearly the odd man out. Why are they even remotely suggesting Microsoft is still in this race?

Three consoles were possible this gen because Microsoft has the money to fund the Xbox regardless of losses. Xbox is mid. If you have a decent PC you have an Xbox. If you want a console, get a Playstation as it will get Xbox's games anyway and you still have Sony first party. Although it seems if you wait you can get them on PC also. If you want first party, you can't get anywhere else get a Nintendo console.I'm not clear why they conclude that only 2 consoles are possible next gen, when 3 consoles were possible this gen, and last gen, and the one before that... I'm not laughing. After the Activision buyout, anything is possible with Microsoft. Buying Steam is definitely a longshot, but it's not impossible if Microsoft throws enough money at it.
