Thanks for playing, some of you were pretty close.

It wouldn't post on mobile for some reason. Was afraid I'd double posted or something.

I know no one here seems to play Try-Age since most of you don't live in Japan, but I just had to share this. You get a card each time you play, and they are ranked from common to rare to master rare to perfect rare to secret, and there are also campaign cards which are usually good, but aren't very rare.

Anyway, the new series just started recently, and today I got the secret rare card! It's a Crossbone Gundam X1 Full Cloth, but since I can't stomach post-Unicorn UC, I have no idea what that means. The card goes for almost 7000 yen on Amazon, so I'm planning to see what shops offer in Akiba tomorrow.

Okay, you can go back to gunpla and whatnot.

Mine has some reconguista in G sets.

Yeah mine had one too. Some blue mech, can't recall the name.

Also at mine were Build Fighters stuff (HG and MG), Bearguys, RG Red Frame, MG Proto Zero, and MG Double X.

Honestly after the HGUC RX-78-2 and Freedom and those kits I got yesterday, they really don't have anything left that I want or don't already have. Though I may go for that Double X eventually.

I mean, the end result with panel wash looks nice... But I'm starting to think I'd be better off using gundam markers for the majority and saving this for smaller details like the faceplate, ect.

Pardon, waiting for some to dry before cleaning.

it looks good, i guess you like using the markers more?

well, i just finished the final episode 50 of Zeta today =)

my impressions:
What the hell, i think all the fighting went down the tubes and Kamille went all Kenshiro on the last two enemy ace pilots. was expecting a big dog fight for the final battle... all i got was some outer body experience and then superman untouchable gundam mode. really anti-climatic battles. at least Char was still duking it out w/ old style gundam fighting.

overall, 3/4 of Zeta was pretty good, but the ending just seemed rushed and didn't feel complete but i liked it. i'm going to try and watch ZZ and Origins

I dot care for RG Build Strike......I won't lie though I'd buy like 3 Wing F's with battle scars and a Pink/Covered Arm for the grid lock.

But Kamille handled his final battle like a true Newtype. I think it was all about him harnessing all of his potential and when he did, everybody just got rekt, he was that powerful. Have fun with ZZ.

How do you feel about Kamille becoming a mentally defecient child/vegetable?

i was kinda wondering why he lifted his visor up in space when he was talking to Emma and she was like: did you realize what you just did???... i thought he lost it a bit there.

I don't even think he even had to dodge anymore. The Zeta was tanking hits any way cause of the bio sensor.
total Kenshiro there moment. i was expecting at least, the last guy to fight back with some special powers. they kept building him up like he had some. the only thing he did was leak some blue light when he died and next scene kamille is bonkers... was hoping for a Raoh vs. Ken power struggle.

Well since Paptimus did all that shit with his newtype powers it means he was no joke actually. And I do believe when Kamille spoke with his visor up it was to show how much he lost it. He was going crazy from watching all those people die and when big sis Emma died he just had enough. I think he wanted to end it as fast as possible before more people he cared about died. I think he just wanted to keep Fa from dying at that point. Imagine how much Kamille would've suffered if Fa died. From what I remember about the rest of the UC shows there's just more Newtype craziness.

i almost went berserk re: Emma , they freakin sacrificed the whole crew of Radish just for her and just like that.... gone =(

It was one of the low points. Seriously what the fuck Reccoa?

Maybe you didn't notice just how fucking thirsty Capt Henken was for Emma. Fuck the crew my girl's in danger!!!

There was a lot of thirst in Zeta in general, so it probably was easy to overlook.

lol, i thought he was just moving forward and not going to wait for her.

Kamille was going for everyone. everyone who showed up in the out of body experience were girls plus Katz to block sarah, i didn't see Apolly in those dreams =P

well, it was a fun ride...
going to try ZZ next (i think)... and post some impressions on whatever series next i start, ok, i'm off to play some retro psx games=)

Skip the first ep. It's a joke recap with Shinta and Qum. Henken wishes he was moving forward, wasn't even turned into a newtype ghost power up for Kamille.

You're in for a treat with ZZ and if you thought Kamille showed power just wait for what Judau is capable of.

Judau channeling and powering the High Mega Cannon and the suit it self was fucking incredible.

For some odd reason I remember the
newtype titan he pulled on Haman
than anything. Psyco Frame tech is quite broken.
The feats he is able to pull off are awesome.

Honestly it shows with how well he handles something as unweildly as ZZ, which despite my love for it really isnt very well designed compared to Zeta, Nu, or Unicorn.

ZZ is probably my least favorite main suit with how big it is. It has that "bigger is better" design philosophy to it, which is why a lot of the stuff in ZZ just looks lower tech than Zeta's stuff, but I think it's mainly me that has that problem. I like the evolutions of some of the ZZ stuff that appears in Unicorn though.

i'm not sure if it'll be a treat for me but i'll keep an open mind. i heard the first half of the series is not great but gets better in the second half. i'll try and stick it out to the end.

It has a much lighter tone in the first half and the first villain comes off as a joke. Then it eventually gets better and main villain is a complete creepster.

So I just moved to Tokyo, and wanted to get into a hobby that had relative availability locally, and thought Gunpla would be a natural fit. I used to make plane and car model kits when I was younger, and even though I've never watched Gundam properly, I've always loved the aesthetic.

How did I do? Anything essential I'm missing? I quickly Googled a beginners guide when I was in the store, and grabbed stuff that closely resembled what was in the guide. All in all, I ended up with the following:

Gundam AGE-1 Model Kit
Gundam Marker Set GMS-105
Gundam Pencil GP-01
Gundam Pencil Refills GP-02
Tamiya Basic Tool Set
Tamiya A4 Cutting Mat

Gundam pencil huh? If you're gonna do panel lines with that then please do post results here. Interested to see what it looks like.

If that tool set includes a knife then you're good to go. Though I don't think I see one there. You really need a good hobby knife to shave off excess plastic.

It comes with one, I'm pretty sure this was the guide I checked in the store:

To be honest, it looks just like a really thin mechanical pencil, so not sure if it's worth the extra cost.

Yep, that was me! And thank you...I've always had an outside intrigue, so I'm glad to be able to mess around with a kit after all this time. It's nice being in a country where this stuff is pretty easily available, I used to live in Ireland, and I don't think I've seen a kit in person there, even in hobby shops, so the opportunity never arose.

Using a pencil to line is actually not a bad idea if you don't want to do a panel line wash. It's dirt cheap, and gives you some advantages like having more control over the line color. That particular pencil pretty much is just a really thin mechanical pencil, though, so probably not worth it.

If you need help, you can ask here or look up guides like this one.
