The Gundam |OT2| Another 5 years of Gunpla, Origins, and GUNDAMUUUU!

I don't know if anyone noticed, but it seems Zeta Gundam's OP1 is based on this song by Neil Sedaka called Better Days are Coming:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nFCc5NLTWtc

He actually composed it. Same with The Second Op, which he based on a song he never released.

His daughter was suppose to sing the themes but that fell through and then there is some bullshit with the rights which has led to the ops never being released here.

The wiki didn't make it sound too interesting.

Show descriptions don't mean crap. Chihayafuru is one of the best shows of the decade but you wouldn't know it from the description. It's about a teenage girl who loves to play a card game (albeit a classic, Japanese one) who's utterly oblivious to everything else and has two potential, attractive male love interests. It sounds like super-generic crap, but what it actually is a wonderfully directed, looking, sounding, paced, and endearing story. It's a show that reminded me that I love anime. I wouldn't have picked it up if it hadn't been for the overwhelmingly positive recommendations I saw for it.

Why are these chicken shit robots not water sealed? Not Kira Yamato pops up at the end of ep 4. Was Fukuda allowed to make this after Seed because Seed made Sunrise that much money? Please tell me either this or Seed Destiny is his last show.
LOL.

The mecha go from me h to way OP.

It's weird how much this show clearly wishes it was Gundam yet it isn't.

Still better then AGE at least.

Holy shit that's a frightening prospect. I guess Age should be erased from this plane of existence.
Well to be fair I'm critical of all Gundam story telling and it comes down to if they have one or two characters I like.

So Cross having Hilda and my extreme love of her makes it more enjoyable to me then Hitler in section 1 and Milk Toast in section 3.

How many space hitlers does Gundam have?

Char has been a protagonist a couple of times though. I guess you just mean the protagonist in the series while he's actively space hitler.
There is that and Char was willing to let those who left earth live.

Apart of his nature was that he felt that he was doing good for all including earth born people

Flit doesn't, he literally wants to wipe out an entire race of humans cause some killed his waifu.

Yeah, although he technically isn't the protag in the sections when he's space Hitler, just a supporting character. Age can pretty much be viewed as
Part One: Why Flit Became Space Hitler
Part Two: I'm Not Good Enough For My Dad, Space Hitler
Part Three: I'm Going To Be Just Like Granpa Space Hitler
Part Three section Two: I Changed My Mind Granpa is Kinda Insane and Maybe A Little Hitler Like

MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM UNICORN RE:0096 Episode 11 – Battle at Torrington
He has to be lying, how can one live in the world and not be concerned about whatever Laplace's Box is and its contents? Were like eleven episodes in and no one has any clue or idea about it.

Garcenieies stuff is interesting and I kind of like the idea of Banagher as a part of it
hopefully he wont be turned off by this slaughter at Torrington, Im quite sure they didnt know this would happen so please dont blame the old man. Banagher ought to use NTD to stop it.
Their fate was sealed with this awful mobile suits though. Reminded me of the ones I mow down in Gundam Musou.

Just binge-watched Iron-Blooded Orphans and damn, that was a good show! Likeable characters, pretty good mobile suit action and a fantastic OST.

When I first saw Gundam Barbatos the design didn't really resonate with me but now that I've watched it in action I love it. Here's to hoping we'll see a MG Barbatos (or maybe even PG) soon.

Also, I thought it was pretty funny how we only started seeing
a masked man
halfway through the show, as if the writers suddenly realized they were forgetting an important Sunrise tradition.

BTW, this is my first post in GundamGAF so pleased to meet you all :3

Welcome!!

Glad you liked IBO. I think a lot of people felt the same way about the Barbatos, it grew on a lot of people as the show went on. I liked it from early on, but some of the other suits were instant wins in my heart
The Grimgerde and Gusion Rebake are so cool, not to mention the Astaroth
.

Do you plan on watching the English dub on toonami as well?

While on the topic of the dub, the second episode sounded much better to me so I guess I adjusted. Although JYB as Orga is still kinda weird.

Welcome! Feel free to stop by whenever. We don't bite.

I really enjoyed IBO as well. It has some problems, but when it focuses on being a character piece it really gets some great moments out of its cast. Manages to make some good emotional connections with a really large number of characters to follow.

Dub has been pretty damn great as well. I can tell the mispronunciation of Mikazuki is going to continue to drive me up a wall, though.

Only thing i keep missing in gundam unicorn is there continual references to the one year war. Im guessing I need to finish gundam origin to get it?

And 0079, Z Gundam, ZZ Gundam, and Char's Counterattack. 0079 and CC would be the most important plot wise as Z and ZZ only have passing references made to a few details. Unicorn is meant to be a continuation of the mainline UC series.

Yes I would recommend watching the original gundam series. Trust me you won't regret it. They are ALL fantastic and timeless classics

You can skip the 0079 series and watch the movie trilogy if you like, but do not watch the Zeta trilogy as they are not canon in the way they change things

I don't recommend this. I haven't watched the TV series so I can't make any claims about it but the 0079 OVA's are quite frankly a mess. I had a difficult time following what was going on due to the movies doing a poor job at keeping everything connected and paced properly. I get that you have to make some concessions in order to fit a TV series into 3 movies but the movies paint a very confusing picture IMO.

The One Year War is the Zeon attempt to gain independence, the original Gundam/Origin takes place during its final months.

Z, ZZ, and Char's Counterattack are in the aftermath of the One Year War, and 8th MS Team and War in the Pocket are side stories set during it.

It's the equivalent of WW2 in the Universal Century, defines the entire timeline, and every alternate timeline is in some way an answer to it.

~14000 yen for a PG Unicorn Gundam (both Banshee Norn and regular)

Pretty sweet deals though beware they're kind of a hassle to assemble. I actually broke 2 parts while I was building Banshee Norn.

I think the PG Unicorn is an excellent build. One of the best builds I've done aside from Sazabi Ver. Ka. It takes some experience, but it's a great build for an experienced builder. I could not recommend it highly enough.

The LED kit is another story. The result is amazing, but it's definitely more of a hassle than fun.

Shipping in Japan is cheap. I know Amazon and Yodobashi are free but when there's sales the difference more than makes up for it. Also Private Warehouse if you want to hold items to be grouped together.
.

Yeah the bigger question is if I want to backlog gundams and maybe other projects that hard. Took me a month to put together HG Lightning Z haha. and my Aegis has been in the same body+head state for 3 weeks rofl.

You know you want to. A pile of kits is always fun to look at! At least for me. I have a pretty big pile though. Options are always nice!

To be fair, I could've avoided breaking one of the parts if I had paid more attention. I put one of the shield parts on the shield in the wrong order. When I tried removing it the nub on which the part rotates broke off. The other thing that broke I don't think I could've prevented. One of the psychoframe sections near Banshee's neck that you flip up in NT-D mode broke when I was trying to click it into place. I managed to click the right one into place after exerting a ridiculous amount of force but the left one ended up snapping. I managed to fix it with glue but it's not strong enough to the point where I can still flip it up without it falling apart again.

HLJ's Summer Gundam sale starts today:

http://hlj.com/summer-sale-2016

Sweet! Got the GBF Full Cloth, NX Edge Kimaris, and Origin Char's Zaku. :D

Almost pushed the button on PG Norn, but then I saw the shipping and reminded myself about what other import taxes I'm going to get hit with in the UK. I'll just wait 'til I visit Cali later on this year to grab one, although I don't think my girlfriend will appreciate our luggage space being taken up by it!

Ok, they are theatrical films not OVAs. But they change some things that Tomino didn't like and was forced to put in by Clover, the toy company that originally funded the series. 0079 was ended early and rushed and it shows. The films are a better experience, though I do like the series a lot as well.

Origin is the best version however, albeit very pricey.

There a lot of changes to the mythology that I don't like in the origin. Such as Ramba Ral being apart of the zaku development and how interconnected people are. The char aznable origin was dumb too. And it's a little bit too hammy. I do think it flows a but better though.

As for the movies. I think movies 1 and 2 kind of sick (Ai Senshi is a classic song though). Encounters in Space is great though. Some really good touch ups and additions theee.
