I already said no offense meant. Drop it or take it to PM.

Eh, just don't call me dramatic because I chose to use colorful language to describe what I feel are without a doubt the absolute worst parts this franchise has to offer. I've discussed my reasons for thinking this at length before.

I suppose my opinion was worded confrontationally, I apologize. Shouldn't let bad days affect GAF etiquette.

It happens. Internet doesn't convey tone at all. Honestly, my love of The Origin and Turn A and my dislike of CCA are the possibly the only gundam related things I can get obstinately up in arms over.

Apologies to you as well.

Would be nice if it did convey tone better.

I will forever fly the ZZ>Zeta flag even though it is a losing battle at every turn haha.

I really hope the Beltorchika's Children manga actually gets to the end of that story and gets fully translated. Since The Origin seems to be a success for Vertical, maybe it can even get brought over as well. What little I've read of it and the differences I know are in there from other sources make it sounds fascinating. It definitely seems like a 0079->The Origin level of improvement (though CCA has nowhere to go but up, unlike 0079). I would love to do a full compare and contrast writeup of that. The parts of BC I've read are great and fix a ton of my problems with CCA.

Actually, I might do that with 0079 and The Origin once the final volumes hit here. Would give me a great excuse to re-read the old volumes and watch the old show again.

CCA was trash outside of the robot design. Should Beltorchika's Children be animated or looked into further to flesh out what happens before Unicorn? I mean Amuro bore children with Sayla and Beltorchika before saying NOPE I'm done with life and join Lalah Sune in the Newtype Lifestream... We could find out what happens to those two... I guess Chan too but she dead.

I don't mind a new series but let's see what else they could have also animated... I mean Gundam-san got animated...

Hathaway Flash - Post CCA/Unicorn please I want to see Hathaway executed.
Crossbone Gundam - Post F91 to Victory
Seed Astray - Cuz $$$ and fuck Destiny. Plus Red/Blue Frame animated
Gundam Sentinel - Ex-S animated please
Gundam 00P/00I - Please don't this sucked. Do it only for Astraea...

Hathaway's Flash has some really cool mechs and sounds like a genuinely cool story. I'd be up for that. My top adaptation requests would be

Beltorchika's
Hathaway's Flash
Crossbone
Gundam Sentinel
Astray

I wouldn't mind an Evolved or Stargazer style short of the 00 stuff, but no one gives a shit about 00 so it'll never happened. I desperately want Beltorchika's so we can get a proper sendoff for Amuro and Char while their VAs are still around.

Crossbone is for sure my most wanted animated adaptation. I still wish F91 would get proper fleshing out too.

F91 has potential and could be good if it weren't a whole season of TV into one film. The mech designs are so ugly to me I can't get behind it, though. Honestly, that part of UC is kind of irreparable to me. It basically isn't UC anymore. Crossbone is cool, but I wouldn't mind to see them continue past Unicorn and write all F91 and later stuff out of existence.

You think the F91 is ugly????

The base design is fine, but man that mouth vent. It's so bad. It's a minor optional thing, but it ruins the design for me for some reason.

It does look hot in those Harrison colors, though.

Makes it look uncharacteristically organic.

F91 suits are so small though, smaller than Wing Suits... F91 is worth it just for Crossbone though cause Seabook/Kincaid is pretty cool.

Definitely would want Hathaway's Flash and Crossbone animated.

Maybe a 00 OVA. Though, pre-series stuff or more info on the Innovator War?

And of course I'd want to see Frozen Teardrop, because it will mean more Wing gunpla and maybe the story will make more sense when we have more to go on than short chapter summaries.

EDIT: F91 is love. Only built the HGUC but it was pretty fun.

Man, I don't know. The F91 is still my favorite UC suit. Small or not, I love the weaponry and look of the whole thing. It's one of the sleekest Gundams out there. Building the MG really made me fall in love with it.

Nah I agree, I like F91 but it's the face. Everything else is cool. It's just when it comes to gunpla I feel cheap considering how small it is compared to everything else no matter how good it looks.

Denan Zon suits are pretty cool too as it's a nice switch from the monoeye grunt suits.

I see where yami4ct is coming from though. They could recon F91/Crossbone/Victory into a new Century that's post UC and have it go UC > F91/Victory > G Reco > Turn A.

Side note: 3 MGs on the top of my list

MG G-Self (Perfect Pack)
MG Kshatriya - The best Monoeye period
MG Akatsuki - Seed Hyaku Shiki, best Seed Suit

Still on my road trip and I know I said I would be done with my gunpla backlog by now but that's been put on the back burner and I'm swamped...

Currently working on MG FAUC and SD Neo Zeong.

Definitely would want Hathaway's Flash and Crossbone animated.

I liked 00 but nooooo. I read 00P, 00F, and 00I and it was a sack of horseshit. Terrible outside of Astraea... Melodrama and relationships were so ugh...

Eh, Frozen Teardrop is a thing that sounds so bad, it's best we forget it even exists. Let's look at the occasionally cool line art that comes out and move on.

Now, a Glory of the Losers adaptation is a thing I could get behind.

You're not wrong. I just want the Gunpla.

And I suppose there is precedent for an anime being remade (Kanon comes to mind), so a GoL adaptation might not be impossible.

After binge-watching Transformers Beast Wars for the fiftieth time, I'm in the mood to watch a more serious cartoon about robots.

I was thinking of watching Turn-A Gundam, since the mech designs are unusual (Mustache!) and the show seems to have a good reputation. Right choice, or have I made a terrible mistake?

How the hell do you get rid of the plastic nubs after cutting the piece out without ruining everything?

Do any of you use files, or just sandpaper?

Turn A is very good with a very very good soundtrack, probably Kanno's under rated best actually. Would this be your first Gundam show? Yeah Beast Wars is great though, I swear half the show is just Scott Mcneil talking to himself...you'll be really surprised by who voices Optimus Primal if you ever watch more dubbed Gundam.

It's a great Gundam show. Among my favorite in the series.

What are you using to cut it? I use a Tamiya side cutter, first removing the piece nub included from the runner, and then remove the nu from the piece. Less street appears that way. I then use a hobby knife to cut out excess plastic, and finally use sandpapper to smoothen it.

I've watched less serious Gundams like G-Gundam and Build Fighters, so this is my first serious one. Thanks for the confirmation that I made the right choice. :)

So Gary Chalk voice acts in a few Gundam dubs? I wonder if I'll recognize him if I hear him.

Nail clippers and sandpaper

Get a nice pair of flush side cutters. Tamiya makes great ones. The ones I have are from Xuron and were great for ~$20. The process is the same. Cut off the runner, cut the remaining nub and sand, but the cut is cleaner and way more consistent.

Oh god I got my actors confused, I meant the Megatron actor David Kaye, he appears in Gundam Wing. A lot of the older Gundam dubs went through the Ocean group so you'll hear Scott McNeill and Brad Swaile in a lot of those shows. I would never recommend Turn A as the first serious Gundam that a person watches cause it's a bit weird, but it tells a good story. If you do like it though watch the Original, Zeta, ZZ if you can stand the first 15 eps, Victory if you can put of with the insanity that it devolves into and Unicorn at the very least.

So I've just finished the MSG movie trilogy, where do I go now? Do I keep just following U.C.? Then F.C and A.W. before Turn A? (Already watched Wing and Endless Waltz before) That seems to make sense to me.

Then after that, from everything I've heard I should avoid SEED and anything related to it, as well as 00 (Although I kind liked the first season) and AGE?

Yeah I got some flat Xuron model clippers which are nice, just doesn't feel good sanding the nub down. :d

Nail clippers tend to wear out really fast from the stress, though. Used to use them a lot but they tend to warp with time.

I mainly used the side cutters to get the pieces off the runners/trim the nub, but the nail clippers, and sometimes an X-Acto knife, help me carve it out/clean it up a bit better. Then the sandpaper-on-a-popsicle stick usually finishes the job.

I suggest to keep following the U.C. There are three series to watch that take place between MSG and Zeta Gundam, the next major UC series. Start with 08th MS Team and continue with 0080 War in the Pocket and if you wish 0083 Stardust Memory. You can then watch Zeta Gundam although depending on whether you choose the movies or the tv series can influence if you wish to watch ZZ Gundam, a sequel series to the tv ending of Zeta Gundam.

After that you can watch Char's Counterattack and then Unicorn Gundam. F91 is the next in the timeline. At this point, you can then decide if you want to read the Gundam Crossbones manga(I highly recommend). This directly ties into Gundam Victory. The last show chronologically in the U.C. universe is Turn A Gundam, which if you didn't know beforehand, would seem like an alternate universe entirely.

From here, you can pretty much watch any other Gundam series you want as they all take place in alternate universes.

I say watch the UC TV series and then UC OAVs and movies. Release chronology is better. 0079 (you can watch the trilogy movies in place of it), Zeta (DO NOT WATCH THE MOVIES FIRST) and ZZ will set up the world nicely.

This. Nobody talks about the Zeta movies, it's like Fight Club. The movies cut out a lot of stuff and mess up the ending. War is hell...a hell that involves a lot of slapping.

I'm not a huge fan of sanding nubs either. The paper ends up needing to be replaced soon and unless you are using a low grit it doesn't cut the plastic very fast. Not to mention unless you are using a very thin sanding stick you can end up sanding areas you didn't want to.

I've moved onto files for sanding down nubs. Here's what I recommend:

Tamiya Basic File (smooth double cut)
http://amzn.com/B00CE3L96K

I love these files. They are small, thin and as indicated in the name have a smooth double cut. And they don't cost much. You don't need to apply much pressure with these files. Just let the teeth do the work.

Six bucks? RIP Yen. I did get some files so I'll give those a shot. Just a simple cross cut might work better so I'll swap if it doesn't work too well.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll check those out. I probably should have started with the original.

Turn-A's really good so far. I wasn't expecting the early 20th century-esque setting, so it's neat seeing it juxtaposed with the future technology (well, really past technology).

Seeing people trying to fight these weird ass looking mobile suits with biplanes is probably one of the funniest things to grace the franchise, right next to a very infamous scene in Victory Gundam.

While not really Gunpla, I finally almost finished my Z-Knight A03 Type-K.

Getting kits to cross their arms is hard.

Had a lot of fun with it, and was rather easy to build. The details are amazing and it's very stable and solid. Kotoukiya has really improved over the years. Still have the shield and the alt. hands to finish. After those are done I'll take more photos for the action figure thread.

Is anyone still waiting for their PG Unicorn LED kit? I preordered it like a year ago but missed the initial shipment. All the stores don't have it in stock. What the hell is Bandai doing?

Picked up the R35 today. Sadly the HGBC Build Knuckle set wasn't in yet at my shop.

Looking at the runners though confirms we'll be getting a Revive Dom based on this at some point. A number of these runners are just marked 'Dom' and not Dom R35 like some other runners.

I've been on a Gundam kick recently after watching through Build Fighters. I love this series so much. Here's what I've watched in the past month and a half.

Build Fighters: Amazing show. Great characters and action scenes. I was surprised that Yugioh-for-Gundams worked out so well. I described this to my friends as the second coming of G Gundam because have how un-Gundam and ridiculous it is. That's a compliment.

Build Fighters Try: Huge disappointment compared to the first series. The team battle concept had a lot of potential and I liked Fumina as a main character. Too bad most battles didn't use teamwork and just came down to Sekai punching the enemy. Also, of course the female character has to use the cutesy SD Gundam. At least Voltron Gundam was worth it.

After that I've been watching the Gundam series in order of release from the last time I was watching.

Victory Gundam: Decided to finish up the last UC series I hadn't seen with Victory Gundam. Other than the mech design, I think Victory has become one of my favorite Gundam series. I liked the diverse cast. Victory is also one of the best series depicted the horrors of war. I think Uso witnesses more atrocities in the first 15 episodes than most main characters see in the entire series.

G Gundam: It has been 13 years since I watched G Gundam so I decided to watch it again. For maximum nostalgia I watched the dub and I'm glad I did. Anyone besides Mark Gatha screaming "Shining Finger" just doesn't feel right. Though G Gundam is only really Gundam in name, it is one of the most fun Gundam shows.

Gundam Wing: I am currently rewatching the show that got me into Gundam. I tried rewatching this show about 7 years ago and I really didn't like it. Don't know what changed but I am really enjoying it so far. I'm about 15 episodes in. Wing Gundam is already destroyed, which surprised me. I forgot how early it gets destroyed. I barely remember this show, but I am dreading the slump in the middle. If I remember correctly it takes forever for Hiro to get Wing Gundam Zero. I'm liking the smaller scale of conflicts in this series. The hit-and-run terrorist tactics of the Gundams is interesting. I'm watching this show's English dub as well. It isn't as bad as I was expecting, though some of the minor characters can be pretty bad. General Septum is hilariously bad. He sounds like Skeletor or something.

I'm looking forward to start the other series I haven't seen. Gundam X, Turn A, Seed Destiny (I'm dreading this one), AGE, and G-Reco. I don't think I've missed any others.

Most of the Gundam video games are pretty mediocre, but are there any you all recommend? I've been replaying some Battle Assault 2 and have been meaning to continue Gundam Side Story for the Dreamcast. Glad I found a copy of that one. Are any of the Gundam Musuo games any good?

I dug up my old Gundam models I made as a kid. They still hold up pretty well, though they have very terrible articulation. I bought my brother a real grade Aile Strike Gundam kit for his birthday and am now looking to pick up a kit myself. I'm trying to decide between the real or master grade for the RX-78-2. Any tips for model building?

This post is kind of all over the place.

Friend's getting me an RG as a present, but can't figure out which one to indicate to them to get. It's sort of a toss up between the 00 Raiser,Exia, or Justice. I do wish they'd add in more suits to the this grade.

I've only built a few MGs in the past and it's been a little while as well.

Gonna sound stupid along with my previous post but the RG Destiny is incredible. If you like the design one bit then go for that. People here had a lot of problems building Exia (well, mainly Duckroll but whatever).

It's a relatively new grade and we get like three new releases every year. Personally I still want them to make Infinite Justice but they're likely done with all the SEED shit for a while.

I haven't built the 00 Raiser or Exia. I have built the Justice though, and it's my favorite RG on my shelf (I've built Zeta, Freedom, Justice, and WZC). I don't know how many RGs you've built, but the Fatum's a fun part of the build not like anything else so far in the line, and the posing options for the completed Justice are unparalleled by any other RG imo, though you really need an action base to make the most of it (if that's a problem for you).

As much as I don't care for the Seed series overall, I do like a number of the suit designs like the Destiny. Wasn't aware of the issues with the Exia. I recall hearing about the MG having problems with standing or something, but nothing on the RG. Thanks for the recommendation!

I'd like to see them expand into other series like maybe Turn A, G, or perhaps even Build Fighters.

This will be my first RG model. Good to hear that one turns out well though. I guess I could always pick up another one down the line anyway since they're not super expensive.

And I see they made a MG Exia Dark Matter finally. I do love that design for some reason I can't explain. Maybe it's the color scheme.

I don't see why you'd be afraid of Seed Destiny if you liked Victory.

I'm not a big fan of the Seed series. The mobile suit design is excellent, but overall it just wasn't very good. Too much stock footage, awful characters, etc. I plan on watching it anyway, but I don't have high expectations.

I take it Victory isn't held to very high regards? What I liked about Victory was the characters. They were all pretty interesting and I liked the diversity in the cast. There were, at least comparatively, a lot of female and non-white characters in semi-important roles. The mobile suit design was pretty bad (what's with all the motorcycles in space?) and the premise for the overall conflict was pretty weak though. I also may have liked it more due to the last full length Gundam I watched was the hot mess that was ZZ.
