For anyone wanting the Dragon Momoko MG Destiny ver MB order now! Samuel decal is already taking preorders for this kit.

It looks like it will have the metallic finish like the Akatsuki too. Fuuuuuuuh.

Only the first print preorders get the Wings of Light. Not sure if it comes with a stand too but it might. They say that the kit is heavy so expect a lot of extras. Waterslides, 2 beam shields, holy shit.

Dragon Momoko has stepped up, only Chinese third party I would consider. They usually aren't good and I wouldn't even be able to import via customs some of the time unless I was in America but Dragon Momoko has been very good.

I've been so caught up in the Final Fantasy VII remake hype today I forgot to post about my nightmare.

That shitposting troll nike/Suiton (who you might have heard of before from other Gundam boards) got an account here and started spamming his Gunpla wishlists and polls.

I pray it never happens. This is my safe haven in the Gundam fanbase.

I really find peoples hatred of Suiton incredibly awkward and unnerving.

For the most part he only really posts about what he wants to see and the obsession with demeening him and his lists kinda bothers me.

Honestly i wouldnt mind if he joined us.

I post a lot on the gunpla reddit, but decided to visit this thread.

I am currently waiting for my MG char zaku 2, mg rx-78-2 2.0, and mg heavy arms to arrive.

IBO is one awesome gundam series, the Op is constanyly stuck in my head.

Just watched the second one yesterday and posted my impressions in the anime thread:

Gundam the Origin II

That was pretty good! Liked it more than the first one. Some of the cameos and foreshadowing is still a bit too on the nose, but it's forgivable given how the direction of Origin melodramatic and theatrical to begin with. The art direction was really great too. I loved seeing the different settings and there was a lot of nice character animation and fist fights. The CG work continues to be top notch too, although sometimes the CG elements of the backgrounds stand out just a bit too much even though they're well made. While the production might not be as polished as some of the crazy high quality 2D mecha animation in Unicorn, the overall flow and the narrative work here feels much better.

The only odd thing I noticed is that the Char voice here really doesn't fit how the younger Casval looks. There's this weird disconnect. The voice direction could have been done better I think. Or maybe that disconnect was what they were going for, to make him seem older than he looks. Still weird though.

I totally agree with you Duckroll^

Watching the origins movies, made me realize how gifted Char was. He was rekting adults before puberty.

By coincidence, I just finally got around to the second episode yesterday myself. I haven't read the original source material so I'm going in mostly blind.

I'm still not fond of the CG mecha, but it uses the (proto) mobile suits so sparingly that it's not much of a concern. I do like how the character designs have a certain "retro" look to match the original series, while still feeling quite modern. All the character animation is top-notch stuff.

The story itself is dense with Zeon history and I'm getting a nice sense of how it all comes together as a prequel. I'm looking forward to the third one to see where it goes from here.

I think the funniest thing about Origin 2 was that they felt they needed a 4+ minute recap at the beginning with heavy narrative exposition to set the stage for the episode. Normally that would be overkill, but with the long time lapse between episodes and how dense the content of the episodes can be, I actually appreciated the recap. Lol.

I heard that the SEED remasters changed some plot points from the original version. How significant is it, and which should I watch in that case?

As far as I know, no major plot points were changed.

Only significant changes I recall were a certain death scene being redrawn, Mwu using Perfect Strike at Orb, and Cagalli using Strike Rouge Ootori (in DESTINY) and...that's it?

"Anna ni issho datta no ni ~ReTracks" is amazing, by the way.

They changed
the death of Nicol to look more like an accident. Instead of Kira slashing at him while he charges, Kira just holds his sword out and Nicol runs into it like an idiot.

Oh, man. I hate when this happens. :( I'm pretty sure between painting sessions I lost the chin to my RG 00. Gonna have to buy another kit if it doesn't show up during assembly. I checked to see if the much cheaper HG 00 chin would be compatible - They're totally different attachments. Oh well.

More white washing of Jesus Yamato.

Doesn't the change just make Athrun look worse for killing Kira's friend? Originally it was just a revenge kill but it just makes it look like he killed him just to kill him.

Nah, Tolle was just in the way. It wasn't a personal matter for Athrun. He just couldn't afford any distractions. It also provided him an opportunity to lose his shield. (I always thought it was a little embarrassing he lost with the Aegis in a sword fight though.)

If you're talking about in the dreamy mind of the writer where Kira and Lacus are infallible supermen, then it's never made a difference. Athrun and everyone else in the TSA continued killing people later on with no particular qualms person to person, only now with a desire to just end the conflict.

Fun fact about that though: I don't know if this is in the original edition too, but near the end of the HD remaster, the Freedom cuts a battleship in half with a Meteor. There was allot of killing near the end, and it was a far shot of a Meteor cutting something in half so you might just as easily assume it's the Justice, but nope, it's Freedom. Always surprised that slipped in.

I just finished episode 39 of ZZ
where Neo Zeon executes a great plan to capture (and could have even destroyed) the Nahel Argama by faking civilian ship attacks as bait - except they needlessly complicate things by sending HAMAN, LEADER OF THEIR ORGANIZATION, into the Argama among the refugees for no apparent goddamn reason except to signal the Neo Zeon mobile suits to spring their trap that they could spring pretty much whenever and don't need a signal for

Just... what? Why?

They even talk about how the Argama is now "officially" rogue from the AEUG and don't have access to AEUG data for checking refugee IDs until they link up with La Vie en Rose, so Haman can't exactly steal important intel or anything. I can't imagine any goal she has aboard the Argama that wouldn't be more easily accomplished by just blowing it up when they get the chance. And if they thought their capturing plan would be successful, couldn't they just carry out whatever her plan was once they're in control of the ship?

I feel like whoever wrote this was doing their homework minutes before it was due

I thought it happened just so Haman could keep interacting with Judau and try to recruit him?

Then why spring the trap and alert the Argama that they're unwilling to shoot at it for some reason? And why did she jedi mind trick Judau to send him away during her contact with him?

If she keeps trying to recruit him after the fact, I'd say that's just a pleasant side effect of a really stupid plan. More of the writers wanting her to keep interacting with Judau than Haman wanting to interact with Judau.

A really dumb decision in retrospect as the original version makes his no kill policy seem less like something he started with and more something he decided after fighting with Athrun.

Well, I'll be damned. Guess I'm getting it.

Whole SEED (and Destiny) is full of amazing tracks and music. Makes up for worse art compared to other Gundam shows.

no anime ja nai would be a huge loss imo, i love that song lol

Really motivating through those first 10 episodes :p
I thought the only thing holding back the Zeta songs was them being based on Neil Sedaka arrangements?

This is the first I'm learning of it, but apparently? In these situations though I just assume everyone involved is being a jackass to some degree, as we never will know the full story.
