Yea I'm in Ireland, so no digital codes for any of the Star Wars or Marvel movies, which is pretty lame. Near as I can tell Disney are the only company that does this here, is there any particular reason I wonder?
Disney has its own digital rights service.
A local vendor needs to want to support it, in order for Disney to roll out support. Which is odd, considering that Amazon, Apple, and Google all support it in the US. But the back end tooling simply isn't there.
For example, I got a Marvel movie on the UK Google store on my US account. They never synced to my Disney account, so I pinged Disney support. Disney support saw the movie in my Google account, so they manually added support on their end, which then synced the US title into my Google account. So I now have two copies of the same movie since they have different title IDs.
Which is all a very long winded way of saying that Disney and the UK providers are not playing nice right now, so consumers are getting screwed.
