Cthulhu Saves the World is awesome. Loving it on my new iPad. So glad I waited for the iOS version; not a game I would have really wanted to play on my 360 (just my opinion).

Honestly, there are too many good games on iOS now. I have a ridiculous number of game apps I haven't really played much, and new ones are always coming out. I love my 360, but man, iOS has really grown as a platform if you like the sorts of games it does well.

Ok this has way more narrative than I was expecting, and these guys have classes and all. The wild west version was the one I was supossed to get right?

Yeah, but you missed a wicked plot twist if you didn't play the first game.

Guess I'll get Kingdom Rush since you guys love it. Also considering Where's My Perry. Other than the fact that it's like Where's my Water it's based on Phineas and Ferb which has to mean it's good!

Heading to bed, but I played the first set of levels in Where's My Perry

It's essentially a level pack. But there are some different ideas that arent at all in WMW

Instead of tilting your device in the bonus levels, you have to navigate a balloon to the end.

It also includes voice quips from some characters in the show.

I am satisfied paying for my $1 level pack.

The new "mud" in WMW is a neat idea as well. I dunno why they dnt add new achievements on Game Center for these updates.

Any feedback on Unstoppable Fist?

visually I like it, although the enemies look pretty shitty compared to everything else

gameplay, not sure yet, it's annoying that when you see an enemy you have to wait for it to get into range, otherwise you're just punching air. I prefer the instantaneous way a game like gun-fu does it to be honest

I've been playing Oh! Cube a ton lately. I started trying to 3 star everything like 2 days before that update came, so it certainly hindered my progress. I'm still at a decent 343 stars though.

It's probably my favorite game on iOS so far. It's the only game that I never grew bored of or that I felt got really repetitive after awhile. So fun.

Oh! Cube is awesome now that it works.

One question though. Are heart numbers separated into two different groups, or is it two or more groups? I want to say that Picross 3D had a separate symbol for when it is only two groups and when it is more than 2 groups.

Edit: Never mind, I found the horribly hidden tutorial that explains it. So yeah, heart is two groups, diamond is three or more.

Thanks, I may hold off for now.

No Dead Trigger this week then? Shame. I bought Cthulu though, hope it's good. Looks very JRPG from the shots, I hope it's more Dragon Quest than FF.

OK, just played a few mins of Cthulu. I dig the art style and the game is very funny already, I wasn't expecting it to be quite so meta.

The controls on iPad are a let down though. I know it's reductive and not every game should have the same control mechanics, but if the dev had just taken the movement vpad from Mage Gauntlet and 'tap anywhere for A' from FFT, this could be amazingly fun and easy to play. As it is, I'm holding the iPad regularly (like a book), and then I have to stretch my thumb down to the bottom corner of the screen to hit A. It's dumb. Especially when it does that 'slide anywhere to scroll' thing that is in FFT. Let me slide to scroll, and then let me do a simple tap for OK.

Honestly, I get the impression a lot of devs are not thinking properly about UI, and it annoys me so much.

Maybe this would be better on iPhone?

Looks ok there

I agree though, Mage Gauntlet should be the template for games like this, control wise.

Is splashtop a good app? I have a PC. Anyone use it with Win 8?

Yup, works great with win8. Tried it last night. Flash video on the iPad? Wat! Gonna take Diablo III for a spin when I get the time.

Don't see the retina res though. Anyone knows how to enable that?

Yeah was wondering that myself.. Apart from that though it's an amazing app..make sure to touch the screen with 2 fingers to enable 'trackpad' mode.. Alot easier to navigate that way

The GUI is using retina assets now and you can set native resolution in options instead of just 1024x768. Although when I use that it ends up having a black border at the bottom. Is that because my iPad is 4:3 and MBP is 16:10.

Btw it's on sale for 1.99 ATM.

Apparently they had to resubmit the game to Apple because it got rejected by a minor problem. According to one of the devs it should be out today.

I played some games lately:

Plague Inc.

Great albeit simple game based on the pandemic mechanic. Once you've figured out a strategy it's rather easy to beat on Normal (haven't tried Brutal yet) but for $1 there's enough variety. The presentation is great but I could see this be even better on iPad due to the larger screen (what wouldn't though?).

Best thing: Naming diseases after your friends.

Brand New Boy

Honestly, this is rather shit. I don't even have a problem with the obnoxious artstyle (I was big into anime and I still read manga after all) but it's downright ugly and probably the worst looking Unreal Engine game I've played on the system (4S here). Gameplay is a disaster with some kind of janky rhythm based combo system. When you're locked onto an enemy you have to use both fingers to adjust your camera. Ugh.

Best thing: deleting it

Ski Safari

I'm a sucker for endless runners and this is one of my favourites. Sadly there's no "deep" upgrading system but it feels tight, has some cool mechanics and decent graphics. No IAPs too for anybody who cares.

Best thing: triple flip with 2 penguins and a yeti sitting on your snow-mobile. Yes, you read that right.

Ski Safari is awesome. I absolutely adore it. It's the best five seconds of Strider made into a complete game.

Does anyone know anywhere in Australia where I can get an iCade easily and sort of cheaply? With Minter's new game just around the corner I can't resist getting one any longer!

Oh hey this story about a family making an iOS game together is really great, if you have a spare five minutes.

Bought KingdomRush for my Ipod Touch (newest model) based on recommandations in this thread. The game crashes every time I go in to a battle :/ Should be a way to get your money back when you buy something that dosen't work (like when I bought galaxy on fire 2 HD instead of the SD version)

If you contact apple with the right info you should get it refunded, but I think they only allow it a few times before they say tough titties.

Hey there! Unstoppable Fist dev here.

Try the game on hard and you won't be waiting for the enemies at all, I assure you!

Hey all,

I'm with Ragtag Studio, and we developed Unstoppable Fist, which releases today on the appstore. Just wanted to say hi and make an official post about it, and offer to answer any questions any of you might have.

http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/unstoppable-fist/id432009086?ls=1&mt=8

As a side note, we have a really interesting new entry on our blog that takes you through the development of the game, and the main character. Check it out if you are interested:

http://ragtagstudio.com/devblog/

I also wanted to let you know that our first game, Puppy Panic, is free for the next three days to celebrate Unstoppable Fists' release. (not that they have ANYTHING to do with each other!) Anyway, some of you may dig Puppy Panic, especially those of you with kids. And its free now so why not give it a shot?

iPad version:

iPhone version:

I'm sure it'll be patched out soon, they're pretty committed. The game seems to run fine for me. They said this in a TA post:

IronhideGames said:
We remade the in-game interface as you can see, way more cleaner for the smaller screen.

We added some tweaks also, like if an enemy is out of view because you are zoomed or playing on another part of the map...if he enemy is escaping or near the exit you will see a small icon with an alert.

We also added tweaks on all the boss fights, on some enemies, etc.

We added a new system alert for incoming waves.

We rebalanced the heroes, the iPad heroes were a bit underpower (the iPad ones will get updated with the next update)

We remade all the map interfaces (Upgrades, Hero room, stage select, achievements, etc).

And more...

Whats next?
Right now, we are working on a new update with some extra stages and we are trying to create a good arcade endless mode (not sure if it will come with the first update), new heroes and more!. We plan to keep this game updated with new content.

It's just a dollar (lol), but I guess it's the principal. Again, I'd personally give it a little time unless you have special circumstances (really old hardware / OS + JB) where you think they won't be able to patch it for you.

Seems like they put a lot of effort in to the iPhone port, not just copy/paste the iPad version made smaller, but re-working the game and UI for the smaller screen.

Email Apple and they will credit you, and you get to keep the game.
