Doesn't a 4 have comparable performance to a 3GS? Also, what about the rumors of Apple keeping the 3GS around for budget/prepaid/developing markets?
I really can't see them offering the 3GS at all after the 5 comes out. My guess is they're anxious to get everyone on the same resolution.

My guess is that they'd just modify the 4 to be cheaper to manufacture. (Or wait, did they already do that?)

Yeah, CSR racing is surprisingly fun. Can see it getting boring soon though. Odd that it seem that all the cars can only be unlocked with gold. Maybe you can use ingame cash after you lvl up a bit?

Anyone check out amazing spider man?

Man, flicking through the ~26 pages on Dead Trigger over at TA is a laugh. The first 2 or 3 pages are filled to the brim with glowing love, but by the pages in the late teens and into the 20's, there is a a complete 180 in tone (as well as the usual rubbish, consoles vs iOS etc arguments).

For $0.99 I'm gonna give it a bash just to see it in the flesh (?) anyway.

I've only played about 30 mins of it so far, but it seems fairly entertaining so far. Beautiful but shallow, easily worth the pocket change. The controls are spot on, and a game with a good narrative using this engine would be slick.

Dead Trigger seems okay-ish, but I'm getting some slight stutter (4S here). Seems to mostly happen when moving while shooting. Hopefully they can fix that.

I just wanna say I appreciate your avatar

Thanks. (◡‿◡✿)

Not sure if this has already been posted, but the games in the Atari Greatest Hits app are free to download today for one day only.

I just installed the app and a message said the games are "free until you remove or reinstall the game". I don't know if this means you have to download every single game and keep them on your device, or whether you just need to download the Greatest Hits app itself. Probably the first one, I'd assume.

I've wanted to get Sword&Poker 1 & 2 for the longest time but they dissappeared from the app store for the longest time. Today I got Infinity Blade and decided on a whim to check and they were back up. I got 1 and started playing through it only to have it crash no matter what after the first room. When I played the demos way back they didn't have any issues. Am I just having bad luck or is something up?

Try uninstalling, shutting down and restarting your device, and then reinstalling.

That would be a drag, I think. The battles in the game are usually pretty quick. I think real-time is the only way to go for that game.

I can see why you'd say that, but I don't think a turn's much quicker than, say, Wordfeud, and certainly not Disc Drivin', or any number of other turn based games. Fact is that there's no need for it to be real time, and asynchronous would have many benefits such as being able to play more than one game at once, and having opponents always available rather than relying on there being someone online at that particular time. There's no need for it to be real-time because there's no need to react to anything during your opponent's turn, so pure turn-based asynchronous would work fine.

Although, if they do this, it's absolutely essential that they show your opponent's move to you when you get a go.

I managed to get it to work by doing that but it still crashes once in a while when going to the next floor.

Might just be because it's old and hasn't been updated for iOS 5, or maybe even 4. I know I've had a bunch of games that have totally broken due to this.

so, there's a new kairosoft game called Dungeon Village.

http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/06/13/dungeon-village-iphone-review

it looks nice. did anyone play this game?

I grabbed it and Epic Space Story a week or so ago. Like most Kairo games, I was hooked for a few afternoons, then they were both forgotten. I didn't like them as much as Game Dev/Formula 1/Football, but enjoyed them considerably more than any of their other 'building/match 3' type games (Hot Springs/Mall etc).

For what it is worth, I preferred Epic Astro Story to Dungeon Village; it felt like a more polished, more advanced version of Dungeon Village.

In other news, Dead Trigger is really beautiful. Screenshots and YT clips don't do it justice at all. It plays merely OK, but it does fill that "I've 30 seconds to play something" slot well. Well worth a buck.

Performance is one factor. Resolution is another.

I'm sure it will be around for a while in all markets, but the main market is constantly moving upwards. At least, that's what our analytics tell us.

Developing markets aren't necessarily great for selling games, IAP, or monetising ads anyway.

Exactly, I think it's really well done for what it is and thus far, the items and gun upgrades and stuff seem well implemented plus the different objectives also help to switch things up to some extent. Excellent little CoD:Zombies-ish shooter that definitely has class and a great visual style with impressive use of Unity as we're used to from Madfinger. Gameplay is pretty simplistic but the quick one-minute-timesink is what they're going for, judging by the mission length.

Is there a case of some sort that makes playing landscape more comfortable? I'm playing and enjoying bards tale but I feel like I'm holding it wrong or something. Its much more convenient in portrait if you must use two thumbs.

Otterbox Defender. SERIOUSLY. This thing significantly improves how well I play landscape games and it feels so much better than any other case. It's big and clunky but it will also protect your phone so much you can throw it and the added bulk is what makes your phone feel like a controller instead of a small piece of glass with perhaps a little bumper case around the edges. This case has become essential to me for serious iOS gaming.

It's annoying but I really think I'd struggle to bring myself to buy something like that, to say it's clunky would be a huge understatement, and the design is incredibly tacky... I don't get why they didn't at least attempt to give it a slightly sleek look, and the cut out for the Apple logo? Argh.

Better case design > "Hey guys I have an iPhone"

Mini Meteors (aka iOS Meteos) is free for the moment. I'm sure many who might be interested in it won't even have heard of it, because it's an older game, but it works great on iPad (can't speak for iPhone).

A free Meteos clone is exactly what the doctor prescribed, thanks for the heads-up.

Q releasing the real thing for iOS is such a no-brainer...

It ain't pretty, indeed.

Kingdom Rush on iphone?!? GLORIOUS DAY

KINGDOM RUSH!!

Gladly double dipped from the IPAD version to the IPOD Touch version! :)
This is quite simply THE BEST TD game available on the app store IMO. So much
charm and fun! Extremely polished, tons of levels, great interface, tons of enemies, great
sound effects...just buy it!

The devs have done a fantastic job of porting this to the Iphone/Ipod devices. Everything is scaled down perfectly to the smaller screen and they even MADE improvements/tweaks/balances to the game!

Seriously at 99 cents, this is an absolute STEAL!!

Amazing Spider-Man is trash. And this is coming from someone who likes Total Mayhem.

Looks bad, framerate is all over the shop (iPad 2), voice work is terrible and the combat is worse than it was in the first game.

7 big ones I'll never see again. Oh well, you win some you lose some.

At least I'm enjoying Asphalt 7.

This bums me out. I absolutely loved Total Mayhem. Thanks for the impressions so I could save 7 bucks

Just got a iPod touch off Craigslist for the cheap (80$) just to see what all the fuss was about. What are some good games (dont feel like going through a 300 page+ thread.). I own a 3ds/vita so my expectations will be pretty high. So far I have infinity blade(I like it alot),zenonia 4(it sucks), gta 3(unplayable IMO) and final fantasy 3(never played the original. What's different about the ios version?) And a few free games.

Which model iPod Touch?

Fucking hell ArcherCat is hard

What level are you?

I think I'm level 22 and it's really grindy at this point.

The other thing that sucks is they kinda incentive you to go lightning and then there are these bats that are immune to lightning.

It's not a bad game at all, just somewhat frustrating at this point haha

Well, seems folks might have made too much of the IAP issue for Dead Trigger. So far, I'm having fun with it and not really feeling a need to buy anything extra. The handgun gets the job done early on, and I'm glad they kept the controls simple. It feels like a fun, little arcade zombie shooter. For a freakin' buck, people are getting quite a game here. Surprising amount of variety in terms of environments.

Yeah, game is cool for a buck. I'll even throw an IAP to get some weapons since I already got my $1 back and then some.

They shooting feels really good. Zombies are really well animated and the weapons have a good "oomph".

And boy, does the game look good. Infinity Blade 2 surpassed.

Never mind that it's about a tenth of the size. Fuck installing 1-dimensional games that take up over a gig.
