Does anyone know if Kairosoft games (Grand Prix Story in particular) have cloud saving? I have the game on both my iPhone and iPad and I'm hoping to let my girlfriend use one to play a save, and me the other.

I know the game Piczle Lines is 'inspired' by, but this one looks really good too, thanks.

Speaking of that Japanese picross app, the same company has a pretty great sudoku app too, just search for Hangame and it's the one with the appropriate icon. Definitely the slickest one of these I've tried.

Why!!! I can't for the life of me get Ticket To Ride pocket to work with game center so me and the wife can play together while im at work.

Does anyone have issues? I will invite her but she won't get an invite and then it acts like I am in game but she never joins.

hey if anyone wants to play ticket to ride pocket async, some of us from the carc thread are playing it:

No, they don't.
It's a shame, it's one of these (series of) games that I think would really benefit from cloud saves.
But they don't have either an iPad version, so...

Really? I recently had my phone lost and not returned, and downloading the game son my new device my saves are in tact

Until now I've been loving Infinity Blade 2 but have been pretty disappointed with its super easy difficulty. First one was also pretty easy but at least you had the God King.

Just went for NG+ and holy shit is this hard. It's kinda clear they made it insanely hard to get you to buy IAP's but fuck it, this is awesome, I'm gonna own this shit without any IAP's. I'm loving it.

The Pinball Arcade is coming out on Thursday per the developer's Facebook page.

Highlighted in this past Touch Arcade article:

http://toucharcade.com/2011/10/25/t...time-classic-tables-to-the-app-store-in-2012/

No word on pricing. Dev page says 4 tables but don't know if that's bundled within the app and price or offer through DLC (like Zen Pinball). Theater of Magic, Arabian Knights, Ripleys BoN and Black Hole are the launch tables.

Video of the launch tables:

Big week for me between this and the new Cave game.

Can't wait for Pinball Arcade, looking forward to both those. They have a lot more videos in the youtube channel you linked, this one shows it running on an iPhone 4, I like the UI and it looks to run very smooth. If they get all the DLC tables they hope for (20+) hopefully they implement a faster way to scroll through them than hitting left or right arrows a dozen times. They said they're going to go after the rights for The Addams Family, so I wish them luck!

They mentioned pricing once on Twitter a while back. The table of the month will be 99 cents, and they are aiming at $1.99-$2.99 for the other tables.

Man reading the bad reviews for ghost trick on app store is pretty depressing.

"too expensive. I'll wait for $1 or until zynga or gameloft clones this"

The Internet makes me sad.

The Call of Cthulhu: The Wasted Lands got a new update that supposedly fixed the selection recognition issues -- i went ahead and picked it up for the iphone 4. Game looks fantastic but there are still a lot of issues with basic gameplay -- if I try to select a investigator or any other character, maybe 1 out of 5 times it will actually highlight and select the player -- other times, it just doesn't detect. Frustrating but the game is fun.

I honestly think that people can still be conditioned out of this mindset. When Apple raised the prices of all apps, across the board, I don't remember people complaining. They just mentally adjusted the 'value' of a 59p game and applied it to the new '69p' price-tag.

Boil the water slowly and cook the turtle alive.

Wario, what have I told you about leaving reviews?! Bad!

Yeah, that is a shame. I think most of that perception, though, is due to confusion about the different types of products available on the App Store. It's definitely going to be hard for most folks to justify paying $10 for a game on iOS when the store is flooded with "free" shit. Clumping all the IAP-based apps together with complete experiences like Ghost Trick probably doesn't help. And unfortunately, I don't think Apple is going to change that anytime soon.

In the Italian app store, it's mostly people complaining about being deceived/conned by the game being free with IAP.

This without even taking into account the people knocking out the game for being boring and the graphics for being horrible. Sigh.

Not sure how it can really be "conning" if they're not losing anything by downloading it. Plus the Italian description should have the pricing right in the description just like the English one does, right?

Apple really just needs a better way of highlighting IAP on the store, or even the ability to purchase IAP from the store directly.

I think it's an absolutely perfect use of IAP. It gives you a really good taste of the type of game you're getting(almost an hour of gameplay) If people don't like it, they shouldn't buy it. I hate IAP but if you're going to do it, this is how it should be done

Ppl tend not to read the descriptions.

The whole iap is harder than necessary to figure out as well.

Also alot of ppl bitching about there being too many words.

Like always, blame angry birds.

yup. look at #sworcery to see how it's done right.

Yeah, look to S&S to see how a lot of things are done right: controls, art design, story, adventure gameplay...it's an impressive friggin' game.

This is what I was talking about in terms of this sort of IAP approach. People can try to defend it all they like, and regardless of Capcom's intent (which I'm sure is not meant to be shady), casual App Store shoppers see "free" and expect...well, a free game. That's why I think it's still important and quite relevant to have actual demos and/or "lite" versions of games. Capcom could be excused if it was merely an issue of naivete, but all signs point to them merely being cheap bastards (see Phoenix Wright ports to Wii for details). Right or wrong, companies can't afford to shrug off perception.

I don't really understand the thinking in the pricing of Ghost Trick. Sure "Oh free great!", but buying just a few chapters without getting the full picture in that game would be pretty pointless.
I do see the point of that structure in the Ace Attorney games (although it's a game that should be experienced fully), but it just doesn't make any sense with Ghost Trick.

This happens with any game that follow the format of single demo build (not advertised as demo) with full game IAP unlock. Any of them. Even if you put it in uppercase letters in the description, people won't read it and fill the comments with 1-star because the game is not really free.

Is always better to have 2 different builds, a lite version and the full one.

The first two chapters are essentially a demo. If you like the game, you can pay and go further. The idea is sound, as Ghost Trick is the kind of game that sucks you in after you start playing, and having to replay the first two chapters again if the demo was a separate app would be annoying.

There is no exact pricing, but it does say chapters 1 and 2 are free and you can buy the rest in-app. Unfortunately people don't read descriptions, and the small plus next to the FREE button doesn't seem to be enough for them to understand the game is not *completely* free.

About the "conning", it seems to be quite common in App Store reviews around here. Whenever anything costs more than a couple of Euro, people freak out and call out their makers "thieves" (together with, of course, one single star in their review).

Also alot of ppl bitching about there being too many words.
Oh yeah. Boring, too many words, slow dialogue.
Taste is taste, sure, but it's still quite disheartening.

That doesn't surprise me really. Ghost Trick is hyped up by a lot of people, but it's not what I expected.

I still like it though, just like I like the text heavy Ace Attorney series from when I played it on the DS, but I can understand some of the criticisms for Ghost Trick. What really bugged me was the 30 minute tutorial that painstakingly dragged on and on before I could finally save.

Forgotten Memories is looking good.

Big investor behind, taking time to polish and seamless controls. I'll keep an eye on it.

Two things in that interview that got me particularly interested:

"We are also getting rid of our buttons and replace them with natural touch gestures which are really nice and fun."

"Our third key gameplay element is the very nice and elaborate puzzles and riddles."

He didn't seem to be clear about how you'll move the character, though. Definitely will be keeping my eye on this game.

The first thing I think of when I see that screenshot is how Dead Space played. Not sure how else I'd implement controls for that style of game, though I'd definitely get rid of the stupid "tilt your device 90 degrees to make your gun shoot sideways" thing. Turning my iPad 90 degrees isn't fun.

The 'plus' next to the purchase button does not refer to in-app purchases.

It signifies that the app is universal and has versions that fully support the resolutions and screen sizes of both the iphone (or iPod touch) as well as the iPad. No reference to whther it supports retina resolution, however.

(thanks, SmokyDave)
