The iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch Gaming |Thread4| NOT Doomed

This is what I was talking about in terms of this sort of IAP approach. People can try to defend it all they like, and regardless of Capcom's intent (which I'm sure is not meant to be shady), casual App Store shoppers see "free" and expect...well, a free game. That's why I think it's still important and quite relevant to have actual demos and/or "lite" versions of games. Capcom could be excused if it was merely an issue of naivete, but all signs point to them merely being cheap bastards (see Phoenix Wright ports to Wii for details). Right or wrong, companies can't afford to shrug off perception.

This is pretty much how it can be summarized. There needs to be an IAP highlight somewhere, I agree.

People used to the app store already know "lite" means demo, but when don't see it, they feel tricked.

Loving TTR Pocket asynchronous play. I just wish it loaded faster, as it has to wait for Game Center to load in-game before recognizing any moves, seems like.

Forgotten Memories is looking good.

Big investor behind, taking time to polish and seamless controls. I'll keep an eye on it.

OK now that looks cool, this is why I'm buying an iPad3 day 1

My old company just released "Draw Something" Its kinda like a mishmash of Pictionary and Words with friends. Pick a word, draw it, send it to a friend and then guess his drawing in return.

Its fun and has a good level of polish (Facebook integration, UI actually made for an iPhone) Theres a free and a paid version so yeah, I think its worth sharing :)

Call of Cthulhu is much better after the update.

I'm quite enjoying it now (iPad 2). Very atmospheric and good SPRG mechanics. Also, somebody complained that shots miss very frequently, which is true. Though I actually like that because an enemy can go down with one or two shots, so it's balanced and it's satisfying when a shot hits. It also makes sense, since missing shots are more realistic than taking 20 bullets before going down.

I have been super addicted to Hero Academy, it is such a perfect iPhone game, I even bought the Dark Elves DLC and may have to get some avatars.

So I'm going to play Final Fantasy II but I can't listen to podcasts while playing it (mutes podcast and starts the game music), is there an app or anything I can do to make it happen or is it a matter of FFII not allowing it?

I don't have that game but sometimes if you put the phone in silent mode or click your headphones play button it will override the game music or manually muting the game audio.

Galaxy on Fire 2 HD is 4.99 instead of 9.99, not sure about non-HD! Just in case someone was waiting for a sale.... I'm certainly looking at it :/ is it worth it for 5? I was hoping for a bigger sale... #iOSgamingproblems

It looks like the "currently being modified" bug is being fixed, I was finally able to buy Grand Prix Story in the US store.

Too bad Flickpig isn't free anymore! Can anyone contact them about the problem?

Edit: nevermind!

"@nakayuji: "FlickPig" was FREE campaign for a weekend 3 days, but some people could not download.FREE campaign will be conducted again, soon. Please wait."

Does anyone know of an "Achievement Hunter" type site for iOS? Kinda like the sites they have for XBOX. I have a few games with missing random achievements with really vague descriptions on how to get them and I'm looking for something that can tell me what I need to do with a little more depth.

Anything like that out there?

Yeah, I'm thinking about it. Then again, I look at my current back catalog and... *sigh*.

Dodonpachi day after tomorrow! Yeah boy!

My Shogun scores have dropped out of the top 10 all around I think :( Haven't played in a few days, I'm gonna get back on that while I wait for Blissful Death.

Apparently the PSP game Corpse Party that's getting ported to iOS in Japan is going to be the equivalent of $29. It's cheaper on PSP lol

hmmm I kinda want to play it again... the ghosting was particularly bad on my psp 2000. Game was not great, but the writing/localization was fantastic.

Finished reading Infinty Blade Awakening and it's indeed a fun short book, I was surprised at how it manages to explain everything that happens in the first game in a tight package, even inconsequential things that could be chalked up to "it's just a game", like enemies dropping rings but never using them. Very entertaining mythos they got here.

Still mastering everything in the first game for shits before I properly sink my teeth in the sequel though. I never thought of myself as a big fan of Punch Out-style gameplay but I guess I am, lol, I also played Punch Out Wii to death and I remember posting a lot in the OT back when it was released.

Was thinking about it but I saw they're releasing a PC version so I'll just wait for that.

You won't find a lower sale than that. I say snatch it up, 4.99 is a good price and the Valkyrie & supernova expansions are coming soon.

Galaxy on fire 2 is one of the best space sims on iOS. Star battlion is also a good space arcade shooter like star fox. Oh and stay away from No gravity unless it's free.

Cannot wait for that. Been slacking on my iOS gaming..but that's due to FF-13-2 (which I just beat). So hopefully now I'll get back to work lol

Finally got Super Bit Dash free that and Flickpig were like the only games I had probs getting this past weekend. Otherwise I was able to buy Pocket Academy and Grand Prix Story fine along with any other free apps I tried to DL.

^ I just tried getting Law and Order Legacies for free and it finally worked too, thank you based app store. Hopefully this means it's getting healed from the item being modified disorder.

After my next physics exam I'll have a bit of free time in my schedule so I'm thinking of making a Google Doc for Asynchronous players.

I hate that Ticket to Ride doesn't float the people who have the pocket version to the top.

I also hate that it's not universal. Carcassonne should be the standard on how to do an asynchronous board game right on iOS. Seamless.

I guess Apple monkey forgot to hit a button before the weekend

Looks awesome.

What type of game is this? Adventure?

Not sure. The developer hasn't really said. They've hinted at it being a platformer, if I recall. Though it really does look like a LucasArts adventure game from those pics. The site just says "pixel art game."

I thought the HD version didn't have Valkyrie yet. That not correct? I already got the regular edition but I'm tempted to upgrade/move my save over.

What about Galactic Phantasy? Seems interesting and the controls might annoy me less than GoF2 (maybe it's for the best I couldn't buy it after all, but I figured it's cheap enough now despite my gripes with the Lite game) since it's RPG-like or whatever.

Edit: nevermind, finally saw a video showing more than combat in GP... And I guess there isn't much at all, just clicking on GUIs.
