How's the new version of Tetris on iPad? It's on sale for 3 packs of gum.

You may wish to read this before you decide on spending that gum.

'Tetris'-Loving iPad Owners Just Got EA'd Hard

Eli Hodapp said:
What's new with this version of the game? A whole hell of a lot of in-app purchase, extending as far as monthly and yearly memberships to the T-Club, which will get you a 15% bonus on top of the lines and T-Coins (the game's consumable currency) that you earn by playing. Oh, EA's Origin has also been shoehorned in.

For new page:

Anyone playing Big Win Soccer? Looking for some friends for the friends tournament or whatever.

If you haven't played it, its a freemium game from Hothead. Similar idea to FIFA Ultimate Team I think, you get packs of cards that give you players as well as 'impact' cards that have various effects (like better passing, shooting etc.) and strips and contract cards. You can watch your teams matches in a nice little match engine, although there are some annoying niggles (ridiculous amount of penalties for one). Subject to usual freemium stuff like in-game currencies, but I have been progressing fine without spending any money.

My GC name is number1jagsfan (actually does it use GC?)

How do I transfer games and their saves from one iPad to another? I bought a 2nd iPad for the kids to use so I can actually use mine, but I need to get the save games from this onto theirs

I'm not looking for people to grind their gears about EA, I'm looking for feedback from someone who has actually played the game. Is it a competent port?

No gear grinding here, Sport.

You asked for information about the new version of Tetris and I provided some. Make of it what you will. If you're fine with iap and origin, buy away. In the same review he says:

The sad part is that the Retina-ready graphics in this new Tetris look great on the new iPad, and the addition of the "one touch" control method make the game a lot more fun to play.

Of course, finding that would have required actually reading the review.

If you want personal anecdotes, perhaps it's better to ask for those up front. If you had, I wouldn't have wasted my time trying to help out.

Just curious: How essential are the IAP tokens to the game?

Having spent some time with it, IAP are definitely NOT essential, but they do speed up the gameplay. The gameplay, however, reminds me very much of a more interactive Tiny Tower. To summon a monster, it costs gems (Fire, Soul, Wind, Water, Earth) which cost energy to gather, and that replenishes every three minutes. Once you reach Lvl3, however, every time you level up the replenish rate is cut in half. When you summon the monster, a timer will appear, the summon time being dependent on the level of the monster (zombie takes 10 seconds, cat woman 30, mini man 60, etc), but you can summon them instantly by using a token. However, the game runs in the background, so you can really play the game exactly how you would Tiny Tower! Summon a powerful monster, exit out of the app and do other things, and you'll be notified when the monster is ready. The flow of the game is not dependent at all on the tokens, and the pacing is very nice.

MonTowers is going to be my new obsession for a while, I feel. It's not an extremely deep game, but it's simple, well presented and fun.

You don't have to get snippy man, just looking for feedback beyond 'lol EA'.

I thought "How's the new version of Tetris on iPad?" pretty much implied that, but sorry if it didn't?

Easiest way is to restore the new iPad from your old iPad's iCloud backup. You'll have to set both iPads to use the same iCloud account, at least when you're in the iPad's initial setup phase.

Thanks, Okno. I don't have much against IAP, as evidenced by my eagerness for the updated Neuroshima Hex and my poor, poor wallet, but consumables make me wary. I think I'm going to give it a try.

The way you asked implied, to me, that you were open to any relevant information. I got snippy because I didn't appreciate being painted as though I had a particular agenda for just trying to help out.

Putting a "those who have played it" clause in there would cleared the whole thing up before it was started. I guess it is best if it were chalked up as a misunderstanding.

Anyone checked out Legend of the Cryptids? It's a free-to-play CCG with some light RPG elements. Developed by Applibot. A very addicting game. The artwork on the cards is fantastic!

The Sandbox Game will be releasing tonight/tomorrow morning ....
Looks kinda interesting.
http://www.thesandboxgame.com/

The Sandbox is a unique powder game that provides you with your very own “physics sandbox” and gives you god-like powers, right on your iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad! Imagine creating your own universe (complete with amazing Pixel Art), composing your own music, and much, much more. The universe is yours to create or destroy, and the only limit is your imagination!

Start from scratch with basic building blocks like stone, water and soil. Once you discover mud and sand, you’re on your way!
Grow plants, build walls, and gain access to advanced tools for crafting more and more complex elements.
Before long, you’ll be able to access non-organic elements like metal and light bulbs, allowing you to populate your universe with creations both natural and technological.

At a glance it reminds me of maybe a mash up of bits of Minecraft, LittleBigPlanet, Mario Paint and a physics-y lite sim game.
Will be free with IAP or unlocks for different elements.

Sounds like no Universal, tho.
So ... .... not for me, I guess. :(

I'll want them both to be set to the same store account so they can easily download apps, but can I change the main iCloud account later?

To be honest, I've never tried... but there's a section in the Settings app devoted to iCloud in iOS 5+, so I don't see why you couldn't.

EDIT: Okay, looks like changing the iCloud account requires deleting it from your device, which states that all documents stored in iCloud will be deleted. No idea if that includes app data saves. I only maintain a single iCloud account so hoping others with more experience with this than I can chime in!

Anyone have experience with chrono trigger on the new iPad? I just loaded up the iPhone version of ff tactics and don't see any reason why I'd buy the iPad version. I'm hoping someone can tell me chrono trigger works well in 2x mode.

How do you guys manage storage? For example, I have Max Payne that I already beat and it's 1GB but I can't manage to go through with deleting it. Even though I know I probably will never play it again. ಠ_ಠ I like to keep my games to 4 folders or one row. Gotta maintain symmetry on my home screen (OCD like that). So I couldn't have 5 folders for example with 4 on 1 row and 1 on another. This would all be solved if apple lifted the stupid 12 app per folder limit. (or if i fixed my OCD but that aint happening abytime soon :D) What the hell is the point of that?

I'd love to keep all my games in one folder.

Do you guys have trouble deleting apps that you paid for? Even if you know you can always download them again but shit, who does that? Once they are deleted you know your most likely not going to re-download them again.

I redownload stuff every now and then, mostly thanks to the "purchased" tab in the AppStore. I wouldn't without it however, too hard to keep track of stuff.

Once I finish a game I normally delete it since most games I play once and I'm done. That goes for all platforms. There are some exceptions, of course, and I make sure to keep those available.

I have a 64gb 4S, haven't hit cap yet, without deletings apps. (I think I have like 5GB left though :/)

Meh, I have no qualms deleting stuff I'm done with or got sick of. Even with paid apps. They're only a buck, I'm not investing that much into it.

Don't suppose anyone knows when we should next expect a 20% off iTunes gift card sale somewhere? I really should learn to stock up whenever these come around...

sladeums, know that your reporting of games sales of actual importance does not go unappreciated. Thank you sir.
: )
But then I'll probably be in here tomorrow with Batman Arkham City Lockdown codes from Panama Chief to squander any goodwill I may have cultivated.
: )

LostWinds 2 is basically the best iOS game, hands down. Stunning graphics, sound and gameplay are part of an awesome package that for the asked price, is one hell of a steal. Buy it twice.

I really prefer the freemyapps model to freeappdaily, especially if they offer gift certificates again. I wonder how freeappdaily gets more sponsors. But offering a $6 game for 3 sponsors is new and welcome.

Don't know how relevant it is..but I quite enjoyed the iPod version. I really like the one touch mode. Granted its not exactly the "traditional" Tetris, but at higher levels, it's just as frantic. I haven't progressed through the galaxy mode or whatever that's called, but I don't feel the need for IAP so far.

How's minecraft pocket edition? Does it or will it be getting regular updates? Not paying for it I'm just going to save up my points on freemyapps and deciding whether I should get FIFA 2012 or Minecraft because I have almost everything else interesting being offered on there.

I keep games until I've finished them, and then I delete. I only have 16gig devices. Holding on to big games like that is a waste of space.

So really, if you do actually have OCD then you're fucked :P you might as well just do away with folders entirely. Why not have a page for each genre instead?
