'The Last of Us: Remastered' coming to PS4, July 2014, [1080p, targeting 60 fps]

The part everyone's talking about is easily the scariest part of the entire game for me. I start to get worried the closer and closer I get to reaching that area when I replay it. *shivers*

I have such a strong urge to replay this game right now. It's going to be a long month. Hold me, GAF.

I'm guessing that ND/ICE's work on TLoU Remastered will be the blueprint for other studios to work on. I have a hunch that this was more of an experiment for porting documentation than anything else, especially since TLoU would probably be the hardest game to port.

Then I'll pray God of War 3 and Heavy Rain will be able to get a remastered treatment.

It's even easier than that, I would've thought!

Before you turn on the generator, go find the door and try it. That'll prevent any chance of Joel doing test run of the key when it really matters. After you turn on the generator, sprint away from it and through the door, across the corridor and into the large ground floor room, up the stairs, take a left and you're already there - you don't need to even set eyes on the Bloater.

Am I the only one who wasn't smart enough to realise you had to pick up the keycard before switching on the generator? I was with a friend and spent ages on that section, we saw the door, and figured we just needed the generator to open it. It wasn't until a lot of tries later that we finally succeeded killing the damn bloater and his comrades, before we realised we still could not open the door. Then we found the bloody keycard.

My first time playing it
I found the door and tried it, realized I needed a key card. Then I found the key card, went back to the door and realized I need power. Then as I was about to turn on the generator, I knew shit was going to go down. I love and fear that section at the same time.

Are the DLC trophies required for platinum this time since it's all in the same package?

And anyone know if they improved the actual graphics for multiplayer like they did in single player, beyond the 60fps?

Yeah, I totally forgot to mention the fact that the ICE team is under the same roof. I can only imagine the benefits to Sony's tools this remaster will provide. And yes, all this talk of TLoU is making the wait almost unbearable. Can't wait to rediscover that world.

I really cant wait for this game. it was easily one of the top 10 best games of the ps3 and nothing even close to as good has come out since it released on ps3.

Last of us GOTY 2013 and 2014 TBQH

OMG they included the Dead Nation DLC into the PS4 main game's trophy list and it made the plat so much harder. I still don't have it even though I've done every trophy for the main game. :(

I am hoping all the cosmetic DLC and such come with my pre-order from Sony. On Sony's site it says it does include comestic DLC for online while from other places like Amazon, it only says Joel and Ellie skin, nothing about online DLC...

Nothing official or even rumors with some weight. Just a prediction from a lot of people, myself included.
Well here's hoping those rumors turn out to be true, as a 360 convert to the ps4 this gen I missed out on all the good ps3 exclusives and would gladly jump on this.

Are you talking about the Playstation Store preorder bonus? That's just an instant unlock to two head items included in the base game that you earn by playing.

If you preorder on the PlayStation Store, you will receive three extra preorder bonuses to unlocks in Factions multiplayer:
  • Early Access to the Brawler Survival Skill in Factions Mode
  • Early Access to additional Loadout Points for use in Factions mode
  • Early Access to the Jeep Cap and Surgical Mask for use in Factions mode

I'm pretty sure somebody from the studio on Twitter said it, but I'm not sure who. The press release however specifically says:

That quote implies, which has been confirmed, that any cosmetic, perk, or weapon dlc you bought will transfer over, not that all the dlc under those categories will be included.

Wait, now all the DLC is available, but only if your purchased it on the PS3 version and no extra cost? If yes, then I'm good to go.

I want to add something to the listen mode on/off debate. I think the game does change slightly based on if you have it or don't. One of the highlights of the game for me, was when I thought I had cleared an area of enemies. I was starting to move through to the next area when Ellie suddenly yells out something to the effect of "Look out behind you!"

I do a quick turn around and I see a guy charging at me with a pipe, just a couple feet away. I got off a quick headshot to down him, but I was pretty amazed at how that event had just transpired. If I had listen mode, I likely wouldn't have experienced it. I would have used it to know how many enemies there were, where they were, and most importantly, I would have known when the coast was clear.

That's pretty interesting, and I experienced something similar though not as lucky as you! I thought i had cleared the hotel section (think E3 2012 demo), so I was taking my time, crafting stuff I need after a brutal encounter where I damn near almost died, then all of a sudden I hear a guy say 'you're going to burn', I knew what I was in for, but I couldn't react anymore, the guy just threw a molotov at me lol. Painful lesson I had to learn, but the experience was awesome.

I am on team listen mode off!

Wow, I can't believe the Remaster edition of the game most likely won't ship with all the DLC..

What? Didn't hear about it yet, where is this coming from?
The DLC maps and SP content is there, but the multiplayer bits that were sold and part of the season pass will be available separately (free if you already own it on PS3 either individually or via season pass). This is what I gather from the stuff ND has said.

We were told the day it was announced:

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2014/04/09/the-last-of-us-remastered-coming-to-ps4-summer-2014/ said:
We’re happy to say that the major content releases will be included with The Last of Us Remastered:

Left Behind single player expansion
Abandoned Territories multiplayer map pack
Reclaimed Territories pack – details will be coming soon on exactly what is included

More specifically:

original

However if you already own the skills/weapons on PS3 you'll automatically unlock them on PS4.

Just hit up videogamesplus.ca as well. I'm in the UK and while the censored version of the game was fine, I do want to have a go at it as it was originally designed. Any word on how good videogamesplus.ca are in terms of international shipping? Am I likely to have to pay any import duty or additional taxes?

I haven't see a commercial to create hype for this game yet.
Isn't it out in 3 weeks?

If I was Sony I wouldn't advertise the game until after it releases. Hype alone will help sell thousands of copies to those 'in the know', and once they've been dealt with, THEN start advertising it to the masses. This should ensure two weeks of great sales instead of one.

I haven't used it for like 5+ years but the reason I used it originally was because they packaged it anonymously so you didn't have to pay import duty.

So season pass holders from PS3 will have everything right?
If you have the Euro DLC and buy the EU PS4 game or the US DLC and the US PS4 game it'll carry over.

We recently announced that it’ll be a level playing field in Factions mode as player progress from The Last of Us PS3 multiplayer will not carry over to the PS4 version. However PS3 players will be getting a supply bonus to give their progression a boost. We can now also say that all current DLC content – head items, weapons, and survival skills – that you have purchased for PS3 will be available for you in the PS4 version. So check out the latest DLC if you haven’t yet.

If you bought the Euro DLC and decide to import the US version of the game for the uncensored MP you'll have to rebuy the DLC if you want it.

awesome. so I can still play with my British mates online on my UK main account, despite buying the game on a secondary USA account. Sweeeet!
May be obvious but don't forget you have to buy the DLC from the same store region you bought the main game from.

Here's a local site selling the US / NTSC version

http://www.365games.co.uk/ps4-games/the-last-of-us-remastered-ps4-game--

34 pound, might be cheaper / faster than importing from Canada.

Also their sister site ozgameshop is also selling it for my Aussie homies

Sweet. Works out to be about the same price as importing it from Canada, but saves on the waiting for the delivery. Thanks a lot!

Come on I need to see more. It's less than a month before release and we only have had like what a teaser and 1 trailer for this?!

Either way it's pre-ordered and can't wait to dive back in :D especially the multiplayer.

EDIT: Hold on a minute.. Is the UK version censored too? What exactly is censored? Cutscenes or certain animations or something?

I got the UK version on PS3 but wasn't aware of any censoring. So just wondering!
