'The Last of Us: Remastered' coming to PS4, July 2014, [1080p, targeting 60 fps]

Damn every day I refresh Gaf and I end up in this thread. So much laughs. I love this place and will make a note to post more. It's getting closer now and the wait is killing me!

-No HUD of any kind, meaning you can't be sure of ammo or health
-Clicker AI is realistic, they can detect even slow movements especially when clicking

Other changes which are shared with survivor although may be more intense include:

-Higher enemy damage output
-Low supplies

I can't wait.

I guess this game easily surpassed the "negative shift" test.
You know, the one when a game releases to a great reception by critics and gamers alike. But give it a month or two and all of a sudden close to everyone is down on the game.

i.e. Bioshock Infinite.

I see alot of excitement for this game a year after it's release, and it's still generally regarded as one of the best games ever.

Bioshock Infinite was GAF's #2 GOTY last year. It beat GTA V.

Vocal minorities, etc etc etc

I really don't have any issue for them not having posted proper footage yet I just... find it VERY odd. Usually when it comes to re-releases like this that is all the marketing is about, doing these side-by-side comparisons like with all the HD collections. So for them not having done that and not even releasing some straight up gameplay weeks before release...

It isn't suspect, I'm pretty sure we all know the game is going to look and run fantastic, it's just super strange.

Yeah it is unusual, I can't imagine it would take long for them to throw a few pics of the Remaster our way to compare to the last gen version.

I'm pretty amazed how this thread remains one of the most active on GAF although we don't even have any gameplay yet!

People are really excited for this remaster ha? It is an amazing game and all but i don't understand what there is to talk about when there are no news, you guys are talented :p

Some very cool artwork of infected animals
cordyceps_lion_by_thomaswievegg-d7dsady.jpg

That lion has no nose, how does it smell?

"Terrible!"

having infected animals would have made the gameplay more diverse...I guess they couldn't add them due to ram limitations?

I guess, rams aren't as scary as lions and gorillas.

This needs to morph into an impressions thread, and fast.

"My name, is Michael Caine and not a lot of people know that"

Any good?

Three shit jokes in a row. It must be Sunday morning.

Its been a while since I played TLOU multiplayer. Is there an option to add a clan tag next to your name in game?

I'd like to team up with people from GAF. Hopefully someone will create a TLOU PSN ID exchange thread so we can play as a team.

Not that I know of.
I also want the ability to rename my custom loadouts.

I just assumed based on the
giraffes that most animals couldn't get infected
.

Didn't we also see non-infected dogs in the suburbs, or at least hear them barking?

I have to say I was very surprised at not having an underwater infected. Until I saw both the
Stalkers and Bloaters
alongside the Runners and Clickers (thus making-up our 4 infected types from the early note), I was shitting my pants every time Joel had to help Ellie with a raft. Then it just sort-of became an inconvenience when they kept going back to it.

I'd like a printable version if you put the right Ellie on the front.

I don't mean to be sassy but it's my biggest pet peeve, for real. They look so dissimilar, I don't understand how people mistake the old model for Ellie.

Ellie's_redesign.jpg

I agree.I find it staggering that people can't see they're two different people. Different hair, different eyes, different nose and different lips.

I'll admit when they changed her face during production I hated it. I thought it took detail away from the face, and made her forehead look too big/too empty.

Maybe it's just that I've played the game now and am used to what 'Ellie' looks like, but I now really dislike the original face, at least in this side-by-side comparison shot.

Okay this has bugged me since the original version. There's this certain section
in Pittsburgh with the searchlight and I just never could figure out the "right" way to do it. Do you have to shut the generator and take out all the guys who are now on alert looking for you? No way around that? This way it's very difficult to sneak your way through so I've always felt that I'm doing something wrong.

You dont actually have to kill them all, after you start the generator, go upstairs and there should be a door leading to a (cubicle?) The keycard is on the ground there. So rush and get it, and just ran towards the locked door then.

Though i might be mistaken at some parts.

Edit: You said take out the guys. Did u actually mean the infected?

No you're pretty much right. Rushing through that section is much easier than trying to fight.

I'm not sure if you have to take them all out, but my friend got lucky and hid right next to where they drop down (next to the trash can that's on fire), and strangled each one right as they dropped, lol. He ended up with a pile of around 4-5 bodies right next to the exit. There were a couple of people left behind who dropped down on the opposite side, but they were easily taken care of.

If anyone's having trouble with that section, I'd give that method a try.

I think you're talking about the basement section. He's talking about the section where you are
escaping the city, and there's a spotlight on you. You have to turn on the generator, then lots of dudes drop down and search for you.

Ok, I'm willing to try hard mode with listen off - played through PS3 with listen mode on as I considered it helping me with situational awareness. But seems like decent sound design helps with that.

So,what headphones should I use and what setting in game? I can either use the Sony gold wireless headphones (and possibly tweak the settings), or use my sennheiser 555s via my receiver (either plain stereo or virtual surround).

There's probably a few ways of approaching it but one thing I had no idea you could until I watched a youtube vid was
shoot the search light out
.

Dumb difficulty? :\ Maybe it works but it doesn't sound right.
In my second run I wanted to see if I could pass through unnoticed. I had many idea to face that section stealth, all failed. At the end I can take out half of them stealth, then things turn to shit.

Nope, he did this on Grounded difficulty.

I never used listen mode (considered it cheating) the sound was good enough - I used some Astro A40s and I plan to use those on PS4 via the controller plug in as I do for other games.

I'm pretty sure he's talking about this section:

SPOILERS.

Yes this is the one. Sorry if that wasn't clear enough.

That's actually the only way I've managed to complete it without a firefight iirc. Feels like such an exploit though.

"Listen" mode, also knows as 'cheating-as-fuck X-Ray vision'.

Yeah, it does. He was just having so much trouble with that part, though, so I can't really blame him. I managed to do that section without doing that "trick" on Hard mode, but I don't know if I'm gonna be able to on Grounded.

There is no 'right' way of doing it but there is the 'best' way of doing it:

edit: Sorry, wrong section.

SCEJA is different from SCEE which is different from SCEA

Your point being?
There is no 'right' way of doing it but there is the 'best' way of doing it:

Forget the generator and enter the room with the keycard. Ready your shotgun and prepare yourself for the stalkers. Take each one out as they enter the door. Once this is one, go to the generator and turn it on. As soon as it's done rotate, forward, turn right/right and run up the stairs, left/left and use the keycard. Done.

He was referring to a different scene. The
second generator in the game to be precise.
