60fps is a nice addition and all but if they can deliver the AI they originally promissed it will be THE GAME of my life -- I really hope that's what they mean with "gameplay improvements". Gimme dem realistic and dense combat scenarios.

As much as you might think you want that, you really don't. Having an NPC ruin your experience sucks. ND made the right choice.
At this point I just believe some people will complain about everything. I do remember when people complained heavily about Rico's Ai in Killzone2 or Sheva Alomar's Ai in Re5 and I've seen a few threads about hating escort missions a la Ashley in Re4.

Looking back at all this, I'm sure Naughty Dog chose the best way to make the game playable without the frustration factor having to deal with protecting npc's all the time.

I'm the only one having a blast with the MP ?? Best multiplayer since Gears of war 1 !!

Nope, best MP in a very long time. Especially if you play with a team that communicates and covers each others backs.

Cause really, the only real way to survive in the TLoU MP is together.

I want Naughty Dog's multiplayer team to take over the SOCOM license.

I thought the multiplayer was amazing. I wish they didn't add the BS hard trophies to it so I could play it and enjoy myself instead of stressing myself.

I loved the MP as well but I thought the trophies took some effort but were fair. It definitely made me a better player overall and now that I have them both and can just focus on being support to others trying to get those supplies, I'm having a great time.

So how far along during the Summer can we expect this? Would love to play this early on but if it ends up right at Fall's door, I might lose interest.

60fps does not feel right this time. Looking at that trailer it feels nothing but unnatural.
30fps feels realistic and this will probably just break the atmosphere. Which is a big part of the game.

Such nonsense. As it has already been explained by others countless times, so go back over the thread. The game looks great at 60fps, I'd actually argue that sub 60fps breaks the immersion (eg oculus rift). It's a video game, not a movie.

Personally I thought the performance ruined the game on PS3, it was well below 30 fps at many times and I sure welcome the remastering to re-experience this with a more fluid framerate and higher resolution.

Can't wait. Will double-dip.

Only finished the story once, on Normal. Will play it again on PS4 on Hard with the see-through-thingy off. Can't wait for that 1080@~60.

Really? Nonsense. It might look great, but that's irrelevant. The speed of the motion is far too smooth and fast to be realistic. Realism is something that is part of the game. This feeling of realism is lost when running at 60fps if the game isn't adjusted for it in terms of camera control etc. What's there to explain? It doesn't feel real if it's running at 60 frames per second. Arguing that it's a video game is so dumb I don't know what. If it's just a game then what is the point of trying to capture moods in games at all?

Yeah and that's because it dropped from 30 in many scenarios. A stable 30 IS a lag free image. I'm saying it feels wrong because it feels too fluid to capture the realistic and cinematic atmosphere the original has. Crank it up to 60 if you want, but you better make sure to adjust everything in terms of controls for it. Otherwise it is just going to feel silly.
It is just a video game, but as such we don't have to stop creating experiences without the likes. If that were the case then there would be no need for a storyline at all.

This was so awesome.

Firstly, it's amazing that GDC does stuff like this. That the industry is willing to be very open about how achieve things, it would be so easy to want to keep this stuff internal and 'secret', but people seem very happy to discuss things like this. I wonder if Japan has a similar thing, and if not, if the state of the Japanese industry would be improved if they did.

For this talk specifically, believable partner AI has been something people have been struggling to achieve for a long time, even though Ico is my favorite game, and it's design is very much centered on the limitations of Yorda's traversal abilities, she has flashes of believability, she will wonder off, chase birds, dangle her legs in pools of water, etc, but she can't move around on her own very well at all, I imagine everyone who's played it has had very unpleasant experiences with her on ladders, for example.

More recently a few games have centered on advancing this, and not very successfully, obviously we had Alyx in HL2, Elika in PoP'08, Elizabeth in BioShock Infinite, EA even put together a super team internally to produce a game where they player travels with 'an alien', and it didn't even get announced, let alone achieve it's goal. The quality of those companions varies, but none of them are even comparable to Naughty Dog's results. It's pretty wonderful that they'd be willing to let people in on, at least to an extent, how it was achieved.

It's also incredible how late the game seems to have come together. We hear this all the time, like a month before Halo CE, it was apparently awful and largely nonfunctional, things seemingly coming together really is scary. How many great games were great by accidents I wonder.

Anyway, I highly recommend people watch that talk.

Can't wait for this to get out. I doubt there will be any complaints once people try it and we won't have to have this silly debate any longer.

What? It looks good, but that's irrelevant. I don't even...

The smoothness of motion is too smooth,as opposed to 24fps of real life? And the motion is too fast? The speed of the game is identical to that of PS3. You're arguing that you would rather the game have a crappy framerate or it isn't as good.

You're obviously going down the route of the game being more cinematic. Then the game should be running at 24fps. Also, wouldn't you think the creators of the game would want to maintain the cinematic feel by locking the framerate at 24fps?

Where are people getting this poor performance on PS3 claim from? I beat the game on that console and thought it was superbly nearly the whole way through,

I mostly agree. Only the graphics at the beginning (first chapters) were less impressive in my opinion. There were some bad textures, but that's really a small complain.

The game was definitely looking and running great, although a better framerate would have been even better.

I hope they give us a "lock at 30 fps" option like they are doing with SS so I can experience the game more cinematically.
