It shouldn't be too hard to have the Re-mastered version of the game running in Native 1080p w/60 FPS. We're talking about a system that has:
8 GB's of unified GDDR5 RAM, & a 1.84 TFLOP GPU on PS4,
Vs.
The Cell Processor, a 192 GFLOP GPU, & a paltry 512 MB's of shared RAM on the PS3.
Especially when PS4's more developer friendly than the PS3 is due to the CPU being a x86 architecture that's from PC.
After watching this..Idk how I feel about it being in 60FPS. It looks kinda weird.
I've never felt more pleased that I snoozed on a game on release.
It was perfect, really... I was so stoked for this game, but school had me amazingly busy last year! And now it's back, and shiny *_*
if buy halo4 or 3 now, ul get them for 15-40$ max and this is not just limited to consoles either. any timed console exclusive released on PC is sold at for 40$ too. they are mostly digital downloads but still they are complete games with added bling due to stronger hardware plus they are new experiences for PC users.
heck even the remakes, remasters, HD conversions weren't full priced like this on PS3/360.
how old? srsly u going to nitpick on these things now? tell u what...il answer ur question if u can give me at least 2 examples of remakes that were priced at 60$ last gen. also don't forget that delayed PC releases are mostly just months apart and they don't sell at full price either.
Well, the reason you make a remaster is to change things. You then sell it by explaining to people what's different from the version they already paid for, especially if you're asking for full price again. So yeah, they should spell everything out, because that's what marketing entails. Try not sounding so salty next time someone asks a simple question.
The guy has played TLoU, he is a die hard green machine fan and was sour all over when TLoU won so many awards and was pushed to universal acclaim status, since he voted for Bioshock: Infinite to win GoTY.
August 8 or something like that.
Because this way, it'll be old enough that very little revenue will be lost by making it a PS+ title when TLoU 2 gets announced. That's what I'd do, anyway.I wonder why Sony is releasing this so early? They should have released it just before Last of Us next no?
I really can't believe the negativity around the jump to 60fps. I can't process that stance to articulate why it's so misguided.
No, that was from a non-vetted "insider", who also wrongly stated that it's 1080p/30.
Is it only me that's hoping for a Tommy SP DLC to see what he went through during the outbreak?
I want to play Tommy in TLoU2, protecting the town, kind of the Rick Grimes thing.
I'm interested to know what the maximum quality video PS4's hardware decoding capable of. By hardware decode, I mean the PS4's fans run on low speed once a video or 2D image displays fullscreen..Were the PS3 cinematic rendered at 720/30? How much bigger would they be if they switched up to 1080/60? Might not fit on a bluray?

Killzone Shadow Fall's videos were pretty disappointing compared to say, any of the Final Fantasy XIII's on PS3. I'm sure it's just poor encoding but it'd be nice to know the upper limits.
30Mbit/sec is a more realistic figure for high quality game 1080p30 video which is less than 4MB/sec and there's plenty of RAM to buffer ahead.Well there is the maximum it can decode (which should easily be able 50+MB/s AVC or even 4k video), and then there is what bitrate can the devs spare to play back cinematics while loading other assets in the background?
There have been a few The Last of Us threads in the last few days, so I didn't want to create a new one.
That being said, I feel the need to express my experiences with this game.
I borrowed TLoU as well as a DualShock 3 from my friend back in the beginning of the year. I just beat Normal mode yesterday for the first time last night. My final playtime was just north of 30 hours.
And holy SHIT. What a wonderful 30 hours it was. I don't think I've even got the vocabulary or writing skills to accurately convey the way this game felt. Game of the generation? I've been playing games since the NES was out, and I'm fairly convinced this was the best game I've ever played in my life. Maybe that says something about me. Maybe that says something about Naughty Dog.
I am so, so glad that I never had anything about TLoU spoiled for me. Going into it, I "knew"I am so glad that I didn't know anything else.it was a zombie game, and the only footage I had seen was a (from E3 maybe?) few minutes of gameplay inside of a hotel. In the end, I wasn't even 100% on the money with what I knew.
For me, this was the first game in years and years that really pulled me in. I didn't feel like I was playing a game. I felt like I was surviving. I felt like I was protecting. I felt like the world around me was madness and death. I grieved. I killed. I got angry. I felt horror. I worried.
I played a masterpiece. Holy shit.
Yes, it's an amazing game. But you played on normal, go back and play it on survival. It's the true TLoU experience![]()
My next plan is to play Left Behind. I think I might wait for the remaster before playing through the campaign again.
Unless you've already bought the DLC or money is no object, why not hang on to that money for now and just get the remaster with the DLC included?
I felt pretty similar to Ecrofirt, I don't think it's the best game ever, it's the best action game ever probably, but it was incredible. I think the people who're going to get to play it first time on PS4 are really extremely lucky. As amazing as it was, it's going to be significantly better now.
I feel similar to Polygon. It's a 7.5 at heart, making it FullHD will not change that score significantly.
*sighs...* I can't believe I am doing this but it fits so well...
Naughty Dog just shot themselves in the foot.
I don't know how much the rest of you know about console culture (I'm an expert), but not understanding how things work and not making sense are huge parts of it. It's not like it is on PC where you can become successful by being logical. If you run at 60FPS over on consoles, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance.
What this means is that illogical people, after hearing about this, is not going to want to purchase the Last of Us for either system, nor will they purchase any of Naughty Dogs games. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Naughty Dog has alienated the unreasonable side of the market with this move.
Naughty Dog, publicly apologize and run the Last of Us or you can kiss your business goodbye.

I don't really buy this. To me, the interpolated footage looks pretty much the same in terms of weirdness as the UC3 native footage looked like. In such a low bitrate blurry video, the interpolation flaws are not that noticeable most of the time, as they are hidden by the low bitrate blur.It looks weird because it's taken 30fps footage and interpolated it to 60fps, essentially it is a sped up 30fps footage, native 60fps would look "normal".

I just think the animation in the game was never meant to be running at 60FPS. It's just not precise enough and detailed enough, so when you can see all the transitions so clearly, the illusion breaks apart. Their animation doesn't look so cartoony, so I think you run into an uncanny valley effect when you can see it to clearly. The UC3 footage looks strange, but I've never seen another 60Hz game look strange, I think it says much more about the effort given to whatever reason that video was made than it does about 60Hz
I'd rather ND put their effort towards ironing out the wonky AI behaviour (enemies standing right on top of Ellie and not even noticing she's there, etc.) rather than spending all their time trying to hit 60fps. Wishful thinking, I know.

Why would they iron out behavior they deliberately put in the game?I'd rather ND put their effort towards ironing out the wonky AI behaviour (enemies standing right on top of Ellie and not even noticing she's there, etc.) rather than spending all their time trying to hit 60fps. What you want is a design change, not a bug fix.
