TLoU a super jagged game? Visual artifacts and low frame rate? Did we play the same game??? I swear some of you GAFers are so jaded and impossible to please. If you think this about arguably the best looking console game of the generation I don't know what can you consider good....
Yes, it had lots of jaggies:

The game only used MLAA whenever it felt like it.

So glad I held off on playing this on PS3. Going in fresh with this game like I did with Tomb Raider and its definitive edition. I really hope they pull of a stable 60fps.

Will previous xbox 360 owners who transitioned to the ps4 as their main console like this game and its multiplayer component? ..I personaly think so.
Do y'all?

TLOU is indeed a great looking game but not without its faults, this is due to the aging hardware and the game does lack a good anti aliasing solution and the frame rate can get very bad sometimes, did that affect my enjoyment of the game? of course not but im not blinded by its greatness to say that it was perfect, that's the reason im looking forward the ps4 version because im hoping that all that get corrected with better hardware, oh and by the way IMO the best looking game of the last gen was gow of war 3, to this day nothing gets even close to the first 30 minutes of that game, or the fight against cronos or the ... so many memories

Indeed. I would also like to add the pre-2nd Zeus fight with Gaia ripping off the coliseum is one of the most CG looking effects I have ever seen in real-time. Even though TLOU is "technically" better, the graphical consistency of GOW3 must be applauded as there is minimal discrepancies to achieve it's visual effect.

What's even more astounding is that Ascension is poorly optimized and is less impressive despite having an already established engine and 3+ years to work on. It's like the quality of Uncharted right after Uncharted 2 which is batshit insane.

Never played the MP, but the SP was easily the greatest achievement in gaming last gen, so it's a must play for anyone.

Bioshock Infinite coming in just behind it in quality.

AA is dynamic in TLoU. It sometimes shuts off entirely.

It seems the game employs various complicated visual effects depending on the situation, but the PS3 (understandably) can't handle all of these at once. This can result in some effects simply being shut off when a new one is required, which can be quite jarring.

Despite the great art, design and effects, I was surprised at how rough it looked at times. It gave me the impression of lacking polish. But maybe they were just shooting a little beyond what the PS3 could pull off.

I'm hoping the PS4 can just handle everything ND thow at it with this port.

One thing i wish enemies (hunters) dropped in TLOU aside from ammo is other crafting items. Molotov guy is the only one to drop bandages or alcohol.

Doubt this will change on PS4 but it would make sense for them to carry more than just ammo.

Can't paste at the no'...but @naughtygods just tweeted "next week already?"

Is this true? Ex-360 owner here and cannot wait for this....eeeeeeeek! if true!

not sure if this question has been asked; has there been any info about being able to use (or 'import', or 'cross-save' etc) your PS3 saves? just curious, altough I wont mind playing through the game again.

having played it once on the ps3 and never getting around to doing the survivor run I had plan on doing, I would LOVE it if survivor was unlocked from the start on the ps4 version. As much as I love the game I don't want to play it again on normal/hard just so I can unlock it to play survivor....

Hey guys, sorry for the bump. So since E3 has started, has anyone from ND been able to give any news on whether or not they've achieved 60FPS? My excitement level would go through the roof.

I believe they confirmed 60fps for gameplay and cutscenes.

Actually, I wonder if we'd be able to import saves.

The game only used MLAA whenever it felt like it.

The game always used its aa method and did not use MLAA, which is is notoriously hit and miss depending on the type of geometry.

Tlou did not have framerate or image problems.

If it drops it dropped to mid 20s, only every dipping lower than that (low 20s) during intense scenes with your light on.

Your PS3 might have issues if it is doing anything more than that.

Different standards etc. I consider any dropped frames from a locked 30/60 to be an issue.

Represent.

Represent(ative) of bad opinions
If they are "targeting" 60fps for this, and "targeting" 60fps for Uncharted 4, then I don't see how they cant easily get this to be 60fps at all times if UC4 is gonna be 60fps as well.

or is that not at all how it works, i dont know shit about the technical side of gaming development

There's no way this or UC4 will never drop a frame, it's massively difficult to have that kind of systemic control of the simulation. If there are enough explosions, enough spores flying, enough chaos, there will be dips.

That's why 'targeting' is the right thing to state. Promising perfect 60fps in any game like this would be insane.

I understand the difficulty in keeping a solid framerate. The problem is that when developers "target" a certain framerate, it usually ends up like Killzone, Infamous, Tomb Raider on PS4. Fortunately two of the games implemented a choice to cap it at 30 fps (I realise it's still not locked, but at least it's more stable).

All of those games said they were targeting 30fps, aside from MP in KZSF. It was only at or near release when we found out they were unlocked.

This shit bugs me. They're essentially releasing a glorified GOTY edition of the game yet they're locking off a lot of features you're likely to see in a GOTY edition to pre-order customers. One of the big appeals of GOTY editions is that they're usually made to attract people that didn't play the game the first time. It's just backwards.

Naw. Each of those preorder bonuses can be earned in the games. This bonus only unlocks them and makes them available at the start of your game.

What I don't understand is that it's taking them so long to port a game.

What happened to 'time to triangle'?

Also, we are yet to any footage of this game running in '1080p60'.

TLoU's IQ and performance were way below par, especially for ND. UC2 is way cleaner and more consistent. Obviously the game excels in other areas, but people should be realistic concerning it's technical presentation.
