The Last of Us: Remastered |OT| Game of the Years

Wait.

If I somehow forgot to stealth kill roughly 50% into the game I am going to loose it.

I don't remember having to hit square. I thought its just triangle then triangle again to shiv. if you don't its just a choke out?

You have to hit square. It's triangle to grab, square to choke them out.

The trophies still seem to be glitchy. I just got the one for fully upgrading Joel, but I know for a fact that I haven't fully upgraded him. I still need to max crafting, shiv and haven't touched the "listen" skill. After I finish this playthrough+ I'll try out the MP and DLC (don't know if I want to touch grounded/+ just yet).

Finished Left Behind. I thought it was great. Naughty Dog made a good decision in interweaving the cinematic, narratively purposed pieces in between the shooting segments...perhaps even better than they did in the main campaign.

Really heartwarming little vignette. Gives Ellie some nice color.

Just finished that myself using the gold headset and no listen mode.

Literally shit myself at times.

I'm in some rainy section right now. I'm a slow player and on hard/no batman vision, so it might be only 30 min into the game haha
Well, you're indeed still very early on and that beginning part of the game is admittedly slow. Once you get past this rainy area and past the next major story event, that's when the game really starts to get going.

I hope it'll eventually hook you in. ;-)

Holy shit you people weren't kidding about gamma issues. Some parts turn my plasma into a shitty LCD TV and fiddling with video output didn't do squat either.

At the end of that part, you can go in and out of a closed building and the effect only shows when outside, disappears when inside. So it's intentional and not a bug. I really think it's supposed to be some kind of fog effect honestly. Still looks crappy though.

Jesus this game is intense as hell.

Also - I've come to realise I'm a total pussy, haha. Fuck clickers!

I dont know if this was already answered but some days ago i saw many people asking if its possible to upgrade everything in 2 grounded playthroughs.

The answer is yes its possible

I think this was talked about earlier but there is some weird issues with the gamma going in and out. Can't tell if its a bug with photomode, since I use it practically every 4 minutes I play. lol

I went through this and wasn't running photomode, so I don't think it's that.

It looks to me like the opaque setting is all screwed up. On the PS3 the fog was there but you could see through it pretty easily.

Just started playing. Man, I love this game. Even after five playthroughs I still don't get bored. I actually noticed something I hadn't seen before.

If you clear out the area right before you meet Ellie for the first time, Marlene has a conversation prompt near some dead Fireflies. I always used to sneak by without killing or didn't go back after knocking out the last guy at the bottom. Very cool.

The 60FPS is so nice. It's actually kind of jarring since I'm so used to the old frame rate. Very happy with the Remastered so far.

BAM! Finished the game on Grounded! Goddamn it was intense and hard as fuck but I'm glad I did it. I had the most trouble in Pittsburgh, at the
part where Ellie backs you up with a rifle
. You're forced into open combat here and that basically means instant death if you make one mistake. Enemies have magic aiming, open fire immediately once they see you and one good shot kills you so I was struggling with this part a lot. Also,
Infected+Bloater battle with David
was really tough and you have to depend on Friendly AI a lot there to survive, which also takes a bit of luck.

So I'm still missing three collectibles and I plan to pick those up using chapter select. Not sure if I want to do Grounded+ right away though... I think I'll go crazy. Maybe Easy first and then grab all the conversations too, and then use the glitch for Grounded+. That brings over all my upgrades and supplies I gathered during Easy right?

I don't know ... it's not limited to a specific section in my case, it seems. Blacks are crushed in general and ever since I've reached the night time sections everything looks washed out like on those early LCDs with low contrast ratios (flashlight mitigates this a bit, thankfully). Cutscenes and all other games are fine though so it either really is intentional for some inexplicable reason or they need to patch this shit up pronto. Hopefully the latter.

The Amiga Brotherhood
Is that right?
I don't remember the PS3 version looking like that at this part

Looks terrible

I thought l was the only one that thought this bit looked like garbage.

And on the sixth day the LORD David Bowie created man and woman in His image. And he saw that it was good. On the seventh day the LORD created videogames so that He might take the bloody day off for once.
Does anybody know what Joel says after
Ellie kills David and it gets all quiet?

I assume it's
up to the player's imagination
but I was wondering if the developers have said anything or made any comments.

Man, I did play this on PS3 and loved but, but this time around I really appreciated
the calm part with Henry and Sam, between the sewer system and before the sniper attack. Walking around slowly, exploring the town and houses, the little conversations and remarks, Ellie and Sam playing darts, the dogs, the ice cream truck.
Such a wonderfully done segment - maybe one of my favourites in the whole game. A shame it's short lived =(

GerAlt-Right. Ciriously.
I know Survivor is supposed to be about limited resources but good god does it seem like you go ages without certain items.

I was needing alcohol for the entire 2nd half of Pittsburgh and the beginning of the sewers. I feel fortunate that I haven't missed any shiv doors.

It's the same line Bill Murray says to Scarlet Johanson at the end of Lost in Translation.

Its up to your imagination and the silence enhances the emotion.

I don't know if I can agree with this part because
this is really the first time it seems Joel to be serious and emotional with Ellie. Like he is letting his self imposed guard down and being completely honest with her after he realizes what she has done for him while he was out and how much she means to her. Coupled with amazing acting of Troy Baker I would really like to know what he said.

Just beat TLOU on Grounded +!
Damn... I don't understand people saying it's the definitive difficulty... I found this to be mostly about avoiding fights whenever possible and the last mission... I'm glad I don't have to do it again ha ha.
I found the lesser difficulties much more enjoyable.

Only campaign achievement left is to upgrade all weapons, on a NG++. Shouldn't take too much of a play through I should think...

Also...In case anyone else noticed. As much as I love this game and the improvements, (60fps I love so much!) I can't help but notice a little lack of polish in areas. I notice object pop in A LOT, can't even remember it happening on PS3 and depending on the camera angle, some objects or backgrounds or areas or whatever appear white until the camera angle changes or you move closer.

Appreciate it's a port of a game very specialised on the PS3 so makes it very hard to do a port, but would like to see these things fixed or at least lessened.

I can't get enough of this game.
3 playthroughs on Ps3
1 on Ps4
And right now I'm watching the ending again in the "extras"-section, lol.
The ending theme....so damn good.

BTW: I pre-ordered the game on Ps3 and got the soundtrack for free (PSN). Is it possible to download the OST on Ps4?

Just finished Left Behind on grounded.

Damn. Shit was great. Very happy I held off on the PS3 version too.

That last encounter was a doozy though... Jesus.

I figure the object pop in was a result of it being an engine and code optimized for the PS3 . The PS3 version had plenty of object pop in during both gameplay and cutscenes.

Have they fixed the missing shadows yet? I know this sounds a bit anal but I really don't want to start playing the remastered campaign until it's, you know, fully and properly remastered. Especially looking at that screenshot above of the underground segment with the gas, which... I definitely don't remember looking like that on PS3.

Oh well, the multiplayer is fun!

The Bloater on Grounded is so fucking hard

I died so many times the first encounter... I eventually said fuck it and moli'd his ass, tricked him to run back over the fire again for more burn damage, and then finished him off with an arrow. I'm really stubborn in how I want to defeat certain enemies and conserve ammo. *shrugs*

I did pretty much the same with the 3'rd and 4'th. Never fucked with the 2'nd one and last two though. Not even fucking worth it.

man, fuck the
hotel basement! i played through tlou 3 times on ps3, and i had it somehow in my mind that those stalkers ALWAYS spawned after you pick up the keycard. today they spawned way earlier (after i tried to open the keycard door without the keycard). and it was horrible (i´m pretty much out of ammo now). the final stalker that came screaming after me after i had outrun the bloater was enough to make me stop for the night. made it out of there at least.

oh, and the conversations/jokes seem to be just as bugged as on ps3. had to repeat the
whole bookstore encounter (didn´t mind too much, since it´s one of my favourites)
to get ellie to tell the 2nd set of jokes. and it looks like i´ll have to get the conversation about
the 2 dead ppl in the bathtub
on my plus run, since the prompt didn´t pop up in 3 separate tries. :/

Hahaha, I was about to make a similar post. I've played through the game like three times including this play through and that section creeps me the fuck out every single time.

I have to turn the volume down after I start the generator to make my run for the door. :/

Also has anybody noticed a few weird glitches here and there? This has happened a few times but when you have a human enemy on the ground in the "beg for mercy" position I always mash the melee button but it doesn't do anything... Joel just stands there and the enemy gets up and attacks me. Am I doing something wrong in these situations?

And on the sixth day the LORD David Bowie created man and woman in His image. And he saw that it was good. On the seventh day the LORD created videogames so that He might take the bloody day off for once.
So apparently I have a game-breaking bug in the prologue and no idea how to fix it. Not really spoilers but:
after the car crash, when Tommy is supposed to defend you with the gun, he leads you through a chain-link fence into an alley. Tommy is supposed to protect you against an infected in the alley but instead he just glitches out and spazzes around indefinitely (kinda looks like an infected animation). And now the actual infected in the alley auto-kills me every time I try to get passed...

I restarted from checkpoint, quit to main menu then continued, started a new game, and uninstalled then reinstalled the game but the exact same glitch happens every time. I played Left Behind and a few MP matches already with no problems.

Any ideas? Based on some of the comments in this thread, it seems like they didn't polish this baby up enough. Really makes me worried for any game-breaking bugs that might show up late in the game...

These game-breaking-bugs are....interesting. I've played thorugh this game without any glitches or bugs....I guess I'm lucky?
It crashed once during MP though.

I don't get why it's just that spore section that's fucked.

The rest so far look as they should.

Anyone seen what
Uni
looks like?

IIRC that seemed alright to me, but the above section looked like crap. I did notice some unpolished stuff there though, one texture was totally bugged if your flashlight was on and would pop in right in front of you, and
I found the game to have really bad pop in when you're on the horse
.

Ran into a funny glitch where I didn't know that ellie was stuck way back trying to climb down off of something. The game thought she was still by me and was doing the replies to her missing character dialogue haha
