The Last of Us |OT| Citizen Kane starring Ellen Page and a brick

I'd want him on my side in a post-apocalyptic world

Really hyped for the game especially after the first reviews. Luckily this time around I managed not to watch as much gameplay as with the Uncharted series before the release.

Wut... Those are some astoundingly bad opinions lol. Whitcher 2 is actually in my top 5-10 for this gen.

He gave Modern Warfare 3 a 9.5/10, as well, so his game reviews are always highly suspect to me.

Love his editorials and the Jimquisition, though!

nope.
If its a simple OT with a good banner then yes.
I am just trying to make an ot which is simple to read, on topic zero spoilers , short and sweet with a great banner.
Dont be excited

I'm probably one of the biggest advocates for that style of OT in the forum, haha. I'm sure it will be great.

He gave Deadly Premonition a 10. He's okay in my book.

And yeah, short and sweet OT's are the best OT's. Get to the point so we can start talking.

Yeah, I love the Jimquisition but I've never really agreed much with his reviews. Still, it'll be interesting to see what he thinks of the game.

The Last of Us |OT| may or may not be sacked by a gang of hobos if you don’t hurry up and disembowel that guy with a broken table leg

yeah and the final one

The Last of Us |OT| 28 Mushrooms Later

so games are only ever capable of being general hospital?

They certainly haven't shown the ability to rise above that in the past. Many of the games critics have cited as Oscar worthy Citizen Kane moment have been heavy handed, facile, or juvenile (GTA IV, Bioshock, etc.)

So while it's possible this game breaks that mold (And again, no doubt it's going to be fun), we have a fairly long history that suggests significant caution, to me. And I'd also note that Citizen Kane was actually not very well liked by critics at the time; this is not an insignificant concern. Things that create an industry-shaking shift like Citizen Kane did almost never go over well with the establishment.

In other words, if games ever go beyond entertainment, I think it's likely that game will be something GAF is generally indifferent or even actively hostile towards. One last time, however, just to make sure it's clear; I am not saying that this game won't be fun, as it likely will be.

I'm a fan of working "uncharted" into the OT title. I'm just not creative enough atm to think of an example that isn't jokey/obnoxious.

I went with:

The Last of Us |OT| All Naughty Dog Teams Dream; But Not Equally

It plays on the Uncharted 3 OT tag and also takes a stab at UC3 which GAF should love and or find humor in :P

This sums up my thoughts on this issue far better than I'm capable of doing.

The Last of Us |OT| Just Like Naughty Dog, We'll Ignore the Multiplayer

The only video game story I could call mature with a straight face off the top of my head is Silent Hill 2, and even that's only really relative to its competition. It's also a really over-cited example and I should probably be ashamed of myself.

I think he's saying that people are putting potential spoilers in the titles of videos for TLoU.

Yeah i know, it's still useful because you can get TLoU spoilerd not just on TLoU videos. Assholes are everywhere.

This was the title of the actual youtube clip, NOT a comment. STAY AWAY PEOPLE!

Well then the game got leaked? i doubt a reviewer is dumb enough to do this.

I fucking hate competitive multiplayer added on to single-player narratively focused games (Spec Ops, Tomb Raider, a million other games) but the trailer for this one has me impressed enough to absolutely guarantee that I will at least give it a fair shot.

Looks totally legit.

Well, enjoy its game mode.

I have no interest in Beyond and I will be playing GTA and Dark Souls 2 on PC.

Saying that, though, I know I'm not going to be able to wait for the PC port of GTA 5 and I will end up buying it day 1 for 360...
Ah yes. The PC is obviously next gen. Completely forgot that again lol Hopefully Rockstar does a better job this time.

But I swear I can recall you saying you had high hopes for Beyond after youtubing HR and liking it quite a bit. So I suspect the latest footage turned you off?
Maybe I'm just remembering it wrong xD

I can not wait for this game. I love Naughty Dog. I'm going to love this game and hope we see a sneak preview of what they are working on for the PS4.

I fell asleep during Citizen Kane so I hope there are some differences!

Might just buy this blind - I doubt I'll regret it.

I'm NOT going to be specific but it's about the content of the game. Trust me, you'll be glad I've been that vague. If I knew how to use spoilers on here I would, just in case anyone wanted to know.

By "give it a fair chance" I mean I will finish the single player campaign, play the multiplayer for about half an hour, and return the game to Redbox.

Ugh I might have to RedBox this game. So tight on cash these next few weeks. Can you reserve before it is released? I have never got a new release from RedBox so I am not sure how it works?

I am so excited for this game and was planning on getting it day 1 but I made a quick decision to move to Vancouver at the end of the month, so I should save that cash... or should I hmm......
