The North American anime licensing company Sentai Filmworks announced on Friday that it has licensed The Legend of Heroes: Trails in The Sky. (Eiyū Densetsu: Sora no Kiseki) anime. The company will release the video anime digitally with a home video release following later this year.
Masaki Tachibana (Tokyo Magnitude 8.0, .hack//Quantum) directed the series off scripts supervised and written by Makoto Uezu (Katanagatari, School Days, Utawarerumono). Atsuko Nozaki (Tokyo Magnitude 8.0) designed the characters at Kinema Citrus (Tokyo Magnitude 8.0, .hack//Quantum), and Emotion produced the anime. The two Blu-ray/DVD volumes shipped in Japan in November and February.
The original Nihon Falcom role-playing game franchise that inspired the new anime has sold more than a million copies and already inspired a promotional anime DVD bundled with the manga version. XSeed Games is releasing the Eiyū Densetsu: Sora no Kiseki game trilogy under the title The Legend of Heroes: Trails in The Sky on the Sony PSP system in North America; the publisher shipped the first chapter in March 2011. Nihon Falcom celebrated its 30th anniversary last year.
