I'm imagining the day when we're 3 hours away from SC, goddamn I will totally lose my shit.
aww, now I'm imagining it too.
This day can't come soon enough

Two hours away!
I've been waiting for this ever since I aborted my PSP playthrough in hopes that this day would come. So close!
Echoing everybody else. You'll be fine without them.
Isn't it still three hours away? That's what the Steam page says, in any case.
About the whole missable quests... after a very brief glance at the faq Aeana mentioned, wouldn't it be possible to simply do each optional quest asap and follow the faq for hidden quests ? I mean there doesn't seem to be a lot of hidden ones.
Well it could still ruin a little of the pleasure for some, and there surely will be missed optionals nonetheless, I'm good for that, but it seems manageable to just stick the faq reading to hidden.
No ?
Does this game deliver in those areas?
I can live with a more character-driven story and gobs of text, but one thing that will make or break whether or not I bite on this game is how well realized the world is and the variety of towns and locations to explore. Those are two of the most important elements for me.
For example, I enjoy the DQ series because of its charming world and NPC's with their own little lives carrying on.

Yes.
Oh it sure does, one of its biggest strenghts actually, NPC's dialogue changes as you advance in the game.
NPC dialogue changes after nearly every major (and often minor) event in-game. You'll find tons of characters who have their own personal little drama unfold through the course of the entire game.
That's there for you if you so choose to run around and chat with NPCs. Making up a situation here, but something like having an instance where you talk to a family struggling to make ends meet throughout the game, keep talking to them, and by the end finding out the dad/mom got a new well-paying job is pretty common.
It's the sort of series where you eventually have a list of favorite NPCs because of their little stories.
As you progress through the game you visit different regions within the area so one town is more idustrially advanced/focused, the beginning town is a small peaceful place, the capital is a giant place filled with appropriately grand buildings, the coastal town is appropriately themed and so on.Thanks, everyone. Sounds like it might be up my alley. Are there a number of towns with their own distinct flavor/culture, or is this game mostly centered around one major town?

Wish there was a mac port
Buying this as soon as it goes live on steam!
Quick question from a first time player: Does the game have a reference list with regards to the main story? As in, if I put the game down for a few weeks, is there an in-menu synopsis of major events and what's currently active?
I definitely want to help with sales, but I'll be playing sporadically due to school responsibilities.

Yeah, you can check what you need to do on the Bracer Notebook
So is this a traditional turn based battle system? I just stopped played ni no kuni and need wash that horrible battle system.

Quickly rivaling with Ys: The Oath in Felghana for the game I've purchased the most times. Well played, XSEED. Well played.
Eh, screw it, I'm buying it on Gog then.
Those bonus makes it more tentative anyway
If only GOG redeemed on Steam
I hope everyone's enjoyed their ride upon the Galaxy Express 999 and have fun playingTitS. This is your conductor, signing off~with
I'm worried, however, about the apparent "wordiness" of the game. I don't mind really slow pacing (I like the introduction part of Suikoden V, for example), but verbose Japanese games tend to repeat information and over-explain everything. Virtue's Last Reward is the most recent game I played that drove me crazy with these.
Seriously. This is literally not even a double dip for me... it's a triple dip (Physical PSP, PSN download on Vita, and now Steam)
