Wait a sec Twilight Princess had 100 different enemy designs!? Never noticed it were that much tbh.

Wow, that's a lot! Is there a list somewhere that lists them all and are there a lot of palette swaps, because I don't remember there being that many unique enemies lol

Hold on there will be mounts other than horses? Link please!!! I want Smoosh and the kangaroo back.

I'm also hoping for something like this! There's a very detail concept art of a stag; I would love to ride something like that.

This is all I see when I see that concept art of the deer...

I just looked up the Zelda wiki and counted 108 total enemies. But they included some variants of the same enemy but still it's a pretty high number. Bosses and mini bosses included

That's quite a lot!

Can't tell if you're being sarcastic, but I am positive others had seen that before me. That's why I emphasized "JUST" noticed it. Meaning it was in front of me the whole time and I feel late to the party.

Probably only at end game I'd hope. The Core mechanics of combat are good, but it's the low durability behind everything that ties it together and allows it to stand apart from other combat systems.

to a degree yes, but we've already seen examples of special versions of weapon types with stat buffs or imbued with elemental damage boosts. It's very possible that these will have greater durability than average but be particularly susceptible to wear and tear from another sort of elemental damage. You'll be motivated to keep those around until you come along something stronger, and will thus still be motivated to grab random generic enemy weapons to throw them and break them for big damage situationally

You know, I'm a huge fan of action rpgs, mostly western action rpgs, but it's weird that Zelda is becoming one...

Oh well! Next game will have romance mini-games and property management I'm sure.

In this video of Link taming a horse from the Switch event, it looks to me like there is a fairy or some kind of magic insect flying on the left side of the screen. It moves in and out of frame while Link is sneaking up on a horse. Found here: https://youtu.be/QMvhDtt_xV8?t=10m24s

Have we seen faeries in this game yet aside from one of the big faeries in the newest trailer?

Wtf is this crap:
http://gametransfers.com/zelda-brea...ayed-with-original-voices-on-nintendo-switch/

And why cant I find a thread about it? Is it a bad source?

Edit:
There is Japanese speech but you cant use it with english text:

"In the case of the Nintendo Switch, if you change the language of the system, you can change the game to Japanese, but tthis is going to change everything to Japanese. Unfortunately, it is not possible to play with English text, for example, and Japanese voices,” Eiji Aonuma confirmed

Also, the noise mechanic is a pretty important aspect to the stealth in this game. The player has to manage how much noise they're making by how fast they move, what surface they move on, what gear they're wearing or even holding and so on in addition to the traditional line of sight stealth systems present in most modern action-adventure titles. In addition, Stealth Kills are not trivial unlike most other action adventure games, you have to be perfect or it won't work.

Also, the player can whistle, this can call companions like your horse to you but it also can act as a lure for enemies similar to knocking in MGSV.

Shooting a bomb with an Arrow will set it off so the player can set longer range traps.

Enemies can hunt other wild life and can be distracted by them pretty easily. They'll also be attracted to meat which can be used to trap them.

The Wind affects arrow trajectories, fire propagation as well as the paraglider.

Sidequests or mainquests do not appear to be designed with Quest Markers in mind.

The Cryonis Rune is the perfect height to give AoE bonus damage to jump attacks of the pillars that it summons.

Fully draining the Stamina bar is less efficient than timing sprints.

Enemies can pick up loose objects and throw them which can also damage other enemies.

Enemies often seek to light their weapons on fire, which nearly triples their damage output but the same applies to you.

Any wooden weapon can be lit on fire.

Bees will go after the nearest model and are indiscriminate.

Most enemies that use weapons also have an unarmed moveset and tend to increase in aggression when unarmed.

Sprinting into a shield Surf acts similar to a long jump in 3D platformers.

You can attack enemies by dashing into them with the horse.

The OP mentions sidequests. Do we know what exactly qualifies as a sidequest? Is it specifically a task that an NPC gives you? How substantial are they?

I saw a video where the stables guy gave you a sidequest to go find a white Hylian royal stallion that had been spotted on some hill. You need to tame it and bring it back to be registered. The questgiver said it would be extra hard to sneak up on the horse.

Hope there are lots of NPCs populating the open world. I always liked the quirky characters in Zelda games. They give each location a memorable personality.

They showed link taking on a sidequest in the Treehouse Footage. It involves capturing an elusive Horse that is a descendant of the older royal horses which he received from an NPC. The game gives you a location to go to but it doesn't put a marker on the map leading you to said location.

Does this game have waypoints on the map when you do quests?

The only waypoints in the game are when you put them down or when you actually discover something. Sidequests and Most Mainquests do not place down markers for you to follow.

There's probably more NPCs than any previous game. Whether they'll still have that Zelda Flavor is anyone's guess, but if the Old Man is any indication we'll be in good hands.

Finding your way is supposed to be part of the game.

As it should be!

This game is a true return to form - based on the original concept Shigeru Miyamoto had in mind when he conceived the idea for the original "The Legend Of Zelda" game on the Famicom Disk System in 1986!

I'm sure there will be many memorable NPC's across this vast, fully-realized world. If there is anything that "The Legend Of Zelda" series does well; it's creating memorable and likeable characters. In a game world that is *supposedly* 2 to 3 times bigger than Skyrim's world - there's bound to be at least a handful of them :)

Now if you all will excuse me, I'm going to be getting back to watching "Krull".

;)

To add to the OP:

Link can climb some enemies as if they were normal surfaces. Namely, at least one overworld mini-boss can be climbed.

Source: 11:25 in this video (sorry I am on mobile so that's the best I can do.) Spoilers!

Edit: what's rad about this is what it says about the consistent systems used in the game. The enemy is a huge rock creature, so logically Link should be able to climb it.

Holyshit seeing these made my chest almost cave in with nostalgia.

I can't believe I missed those when watching the trailer for like the 8th time lol

I was just so blown away by the trailer, that I didn't think to scrutinize it for fine details lol

Hehe it was from E3 apparently, but I watch the latest trailer about 5 times a day, and I am still blown away. Like "this is one of the most amazing things I have ever watched" blown away. I can't get unhyped enough to even be coherent or reasonable, really. I am DHF728FBE383O2ND/10 right now.

Seeing actual play in handheld mode looking as good and smooth as it does is SO encouraging. Le sigh.

Speaking of using meat to attract enemies, Can you throw food in this game? I checked the footage and when you're holding food there is a command called 'far' assigned to d-pad down.
I guess that toggles drop into throw, or it would be named better

I have no idea but it'd make the seemingly solid stealth system even better. It's kinda maddening that this might be the best set of stealth mechanics (specifically mechanics and not level design) since MGSV especially after how Zelda games have been so mediocre when it comes to actual Stealth in the past. Crazy Systemic Stuff is awesome.

That would be dope though. Would be cool if you could throw food to lure horses too.

Using meat to attract or satiate enemies would be a fantastic throwback to "Grumble grumble..."
