Has anyone tried making a hard save, then starting a new game and on the new game only saving it via autosaves?

In theory, this should let you have two save files when you start a new game. Only thing is when you go back to your hard save it'll erase your new save.

If that worked for anyone then let me know. I want to try a new game soon but am too afraid to erase my nearly 100% Shrine/Sidequest save file. I don't want to start a new profile. >_>

Anywayz: only 8 more shrines and I know where they all are. Feels good. Saving Eventide for last. Still missing like 30 sidequests somehow.

I think hard saves get overwritten by autosaves, no?

Either way I would not recommend it, why not make a new profile? That's what they are for.

Honestly, now that the hard stuff is out of the way, a lot of this is probably pretty realistic for the next game. Maybe not 15+ traditional dungeons though lol

Gotta dream big :P We would probably get sick of dungeons at that point.

But yes. I love the world and systems introduced in BoTW and it would be a waste not to put all these assets to use one more time. Give me the Super Mario Galaxy 2 of the Zelda franchise.

This is a great point. I'd love a bustling Castle Town full of people from all corners of the world. Out of the 80+ hours I put in, at least 30 of those were interacting with NPCs. I cant get enough of Zelda NPCs and side quests. Theyre so much fun.

I did think the post apocalyptic concept here was nice. I stumbled onto the ruins of a large village near Lake Hylia. I wonder how Link feels looking at all these burned homes and things knowing it happened because he failed to save the world 100 years ago.

Don't get me wrong, I love the setting. Fallout and Zelda are my two favourite series so having this game meld so many aspects from Fallout (Open world, post apocalypse, loot and character progression, NPCs with depth) is a dream come true. I still have moments of disbelief when I see the Zelda logo in the loading screen. This is a GOAT-tier game for me.

Has anyone compiled a complete list of Shrine Quests and their locations? I'm at just
11
shrines left, and
10
of them are gonna be quest-based going from my Adventure Log --
it lists 32/42 complete
.

Absolutely. I'm playing this game right now in bed and its raining in Hateno Village right now and I feel so comfortable and happy. Nintendo nailed the little things so hard.

Wow a few you guys have beaten the game already. I'm still stuck talking to the NPCs and trying to
buy a house.
I must be real inefficient with my game time as I am already 30 hrs in.

Finished up the dungeon in Zora's Domain. The story and voice acting is pitifully bad. The dungeon was okay. The leadup to it was the best part and was really well done.

Games still going great for me but it seems it really did peak with the Great Plateau. Haven't felt that sense of mystery, wonder and adventure since leaving that area, maybe partly due to the massive exposition dump they give you.

Except when exploring Hyrule
Castle
since the game was actually a bit challenging there and it was shrouded in mysery. Really wish the game had shipped with a hard mode. Way too easy so far and that ruins some of the gameplay subsystems.

Well, I beat the game after not remembering how to parry a single time until the final boss
where I actually finally learned/remembered to hit A....the boss is impossible to beat without it. The guardians were impossible for me to beat as well as I thought you parried by bringing up your shield at the last minute. I just soaked up damage the whole way up the hill.
.

My fault, but it made the game a chore to play!

I also had never
ridden a horse until the final battle, which made me end up jumping off numerous times.

I'm terrible at this game.

I was starting to feel burned out of 35 hours. I'm not a fan of open World game and didn't want to ruined the game for me. My completed percentage was 11%, so i still have a lot to look forward to it.

This game is fantastic, but i reached a point where I wanted to finish until the DLC. Not only will I get to play the DLC, but I also get to play the Dungeons since I skipped them.

How is the Wii U version of the game fairing? I really want to play this game, but I don't like to buy new systems when there is only one game I'm interested in. I've dealt with some pretty bad framerate stuff in the past and not been too bothered, such as Blight Town, or Skyrim, how sensitive would I be to the performance of the Wii U version? Thanks.

The Highland Stable minigame is pure trash, holy crap. The horses freak out if theyre anywhere near a pole, evem if they wont hit it.

First part of the game ive actively wondered what was wrong with the devs.

You'll be fine if you survived Blight Town.

so with this game not using the 3 game profile/saves we are used to, how would i be able to say, let my dad start a new game without it messing up my progress?

im guessing maybe set up a profile for him on the switch, but i wanted to make sure before i did anything

Not impossible at all if you use
Urbosa's Fury and then wait for it to recharge and then use it again.

Yeah, just make him a profile. Even the DLC purchased on your profile will work on the other ones.

115 hours in and haven't even finished all the Divine Beasts yet.

I have no idea how much time I've put into this amazing game yet (probably between 35-40 hours if I had to guess) and I could still keep going. I finished the main story but there's so many quests, shrines and more to do I feel like I'll easily put in another several hours. This game has consumed my life for the past week in a way no other game has ever managed to. It might be my new favourite of all time.

THis has probably been asked before, but regarding the Master Sword,
do I need to have 13 legit hearts? Or can I go in with temporary boosted hearts from food to be above 13?

I really love the desert region. Definitely one of my favorites in the game, and also includes my favorite dungeon too heh.

13 legit Hearts. Temporary hearts won't count.

Just beat the game with 120 shrines completed.

Felt so right fighting Ganon wearing the green tunic and hat. Final boss was relatively easy but managed to do quite a bit of damage! Incredibly intimidating design though!

Game was absolutely fantastic and was by far the most enchanting and memorable gaming experience I've had in a very long time if not the most ever. This is one I'll definitely be revisiting frequently.

Never before have I thrown 90+ hours at a first playthrough of a game. The world was absolutely incredible and memorable, so much so that I know exactly where nearly everything is. Never before have I been so hooked to an open world game, but Nintendo absolutely nailed it.

Now, to collect 820 more Korok seeds while I wait for the expansion to come out.

10/10.

So im cheappening out the
lomei labyrinth island
which side should I drop down that leads to the stairs to the shrine?

I cant be the only one who does this, but when you throw the boomerang and it comes back to you, press A to catch and you end up picking an item off the ground.

I don't think that's what makes BotW such a different and surprising game. Yes, SS is linear and BotW is open. Yes, one emphasizes motion controls and one doesn't. That much is pretty obvious. What's fascinating is that BotW, more than any other Nintendo game in recent history, has been designed in a way that respects the player and believe he or she is smart enough to figure things out for themselves. It's a completely different approach than Skyward Sword (or any 3D Zelda, really) and it goes far beyond a focus away from linearity or motion controls. It's a revolution for the entire franchise.
Skyward Sword is in many ways the culmination of everything that's bad about 3D Zelda games, and I'm someone who loved that game to death. The hand holding got so bad, they literally created a character that is held in your hand and feeds you useless info. Objectives devolved into repetitive collection quests to get through a gated paths. But they did try in a way to make an overworld that felt a lot like a dungeon. The problem was it felt more like an endless dungeon than an actual world. In BotW they built that actual world first and in turn it's light on the dungeons. Both are honestly pretty imbalanced, except BotW pulls it off better.

Skyward Sword did have some great dungeons though.

I honestly have no idea what you're talking about. The Great Plateau is by far the least remarkable area of the game IMO. It's very much the beginner area in terms of look and feel, and especially compared to some of the crazier more mysterious places I've stumbled into

Do they? I don't think they do. Which is what led me to believe that you could have two save files this way.

I don't want to make a new profile since I want everything on one profile.

So speaking of past locations from other zelda games in BotW

Sort of spoilers related to finishing 120 shrines but the location in question is also a random shrine location.

What the fuck is the forgotten temple supposed to be? The monks say it's where the oldest statue of hylia is, I half expected them to send me to the temple of time but then they send me to this random ass place

This thread makes me feel awful about my playing skills. Before I beat my first divine beast, I explored Hyrule field, Hyrule castle town ruins and Hyrule castle from the moat to all the way up in Zelda's room before turning around. This gave me tons of money, treasure, high level gear, food and arrows. While I felt overpowered at first taking on and defeating Waterblight Ganon, Lynels, dragons, rare Stone talus, hinoxes, etc. I was quickly reminded of the fragility of these weapons and the limitations of my weapon inventories. I soon learned to hold onto some high level and special weapons for specific reasons and been able to cycle through other lower level disposable weapons. I also thought I was hilariously rich with 2000 rupees but as I played I realized that there are ways to spend that money quickly for some cool things in return. I suppose the shrine orb upgrades for more hearts or stamina can significantly ease the game but it seems like the game is still plenty challenging from both combat aspects and puzzles. I was genuinely stumped on a constellation puzzle but after 15 minutes of messing around, I realized what I needed to do.

THis has probably been asked before, but regarding the Master Sword,

You need real hearts. I did 32 shrines only upgrading my heart container and defeated 2 divine beasts to get enough hearts. TBH, I wish they tied the master sword to spirit orbs instead of hearts.

Do the Rito (bird) beast first. The ability you get from it makes navigation vastly easier.
...Plus it's easily the weakest arc of all the beasts. Quest is so short and bare compared to the other three.

Rito was my last beast... easily the most disappointed I've felt in the game. Doing Rito last is extremely anti-climactic.
