The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword announced for Wii [N-CONF]

I think people should relax with the complaints about the controls. Seems like there was some interference. Let's wait to get some impressions from the show floor.

Also, Nintendo is not releasing a flagship game until the controls are perfect. I don't think we need to worry about it at all. It should be great!

The art direction and graphics looked really good but the motion controls looked terrible. They were everything we expect from Wiimote controls. Unresponsive and inaccurate and certainly not 1 to 1.

It'll be interesting to see if it actually was due to technical difficulties or if it's bad on the floor as well. I'm betting it'll be better on the floor but still fairly finicky.

There's no way they'll release a Zelda game that controls like crap. I'll await with cautious optimism. I'm loving the art style.

Cel shading is great to hear, Twilight Princess was hideous, Wind Waker is still stupidly gorgeous, especially all those HD shots people post from the emulators, it's crazy.

:lol

Guys. What about the music? MIDI, I think that the libraries used where similar to the TP ones. I only expect orchestrated music, kind of disappointed that the trailer music was the same used years ago. Same treatment as Galaxy 2? Please.

Edit: You can see that in the Mickey demo they are experimenting the same interference problems.

I really hate the art style :S

Wish they showed us more than just a controls tutorial. The trailer at the end was a bit better.

Control issues was a product of the setting. The demo video looked much better.. suffice to say we already know how all these mechanics play. :lol

This is the most excited I've been for a Zelda game since Ocarina. Can't wait!

people saying that they wouldn't release a zelda game with poor controls have a very short memory. twilight princess on wii had very very poor controls and while I'm sure this new one will be improved, it's still going to be the same old nonsense. I wish they'd just let those of us who just want to play the game unhindered by an intermediary do so by using a regular controller.

I don't want fight the motion controls any more than I want to play gyromite with ROB. scratch that, playing gyromite with ROB is campy fun. this is just annoying. give me the fucking controller.

Oh boy... and here I was hoping to play Zelda this Christmas.

The finished product better have motion controls that don't fail half the time like the morph ball jump in Metroid Prime or shield bash in Twilight Princess.

Not for me. Sure the sword fighting wasnt 1 to 1, but the sword swings, rotate attack, aiming, and everything else worked 100% of the time for me, exactly the way I wanted it to.

In addition to the interference there seemed to be pretty bad lag as well. There's no way the controls are as bad as they seemed in that presentation since that would mean it's borderline unplayable...

the controls were at minimum controversial, judging by the number of people who strongly prefer the gamecube version.

what's easier, wagging your hand around or just hitting a fucking button? seriously, you have to ask yourself, what the fuck is the point?

People really think the controls in a zelda game won't work in the final release

A Zelda game.

Haven't they earned some confidence from their "gamers"

This is the best looking zelda!
Finally a cel-shaded Link that doesn't look like a retarded chibi.

WOooooohoooooooooo

Awesome I'm stoked that the sword beam is back.
I have faith they'll work out the kinks with the controls. I'm glad they're going with something new instead of the same control style.

Don't really like the graphics... they looked so flat and bright?

And the game was a disappointment considering the new ideas... I guess I waited too much of a leap from the basic formula with the floating sword etc.

Even if the controls work perfectly, if there isn't a GC controller option I might not play this game. I seriously hate motion controls and this game giving us more of that bullshit instead of some real innovation for the franchise is pretty disappointing. The trailers killed my interest even more than the terrible demonstration, there was just nothing new or fresh about the game. If someone told me it was just a cel-shaded version of TP, I'd believe them.

YES

OP, if you're going to make this topic, it's your job to keep the first post full with trailers, gameplays videos, and impressions.

Well when you put 10,000 wireless devices in front of a wiimote it's not going to work right. They had to of seen this coming. Anyway it looks great, fuck the haters.

Link's pants look ugly, needs to go back to tights. If the controls work as intended it'll be good fun, but that demo was incredibly rough and not very promising.

While I like the new toon Link, the enemies, especially the Moblins, don't seem consistent with the style. Also the environment was quite bland despite the style.

Other than that I'm sure the controls will get sorted out and the massive HUD is just for demo purposes.

BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Thats the entire demo. Horrific.

Also I'm lefty too Dragona...yeah its not gonna be fun.

Same thing happened with Wii Sports Resorts..and other games like the Epic Mickey that was shown just after Zelda...

It may be what you were expecting, me..I haven't had any problems with the controller....

Wii motion controls aren't always as responsive as I'd like them to, but when I'm playing at home it's not nearly as janky as it was during this demo. I'll buy them having some sort of interference. No way that the end product won't at least equal the responsiveness of a Wii Sports game, which it didn't in the demo.

Love that they're doing a cell shaded look again. I'm not part of the TP hater train, but WW is my favourite looking 3d Zelda by far. It doesn't seem to be quite WW style, but it looks really nice.

The presentation was so awful, but the game looks fantastic imo. I just wish someone will do it justice. Dunno why they didn't prep it better.

You saw, like, twenty seconds and a tutorial.

Hell, if the tutorial bit only lasts as long as it did on stage, it's already improved from TP.
