The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword announced for Wii [N-CONF]

Watching the video on e3.nintendo.com, and it's so smooth, I'm willing to believe that the demonstration had tech difficulties.

Epic Mickey's pointer was also all over the place as well. Both live demos were weird.

So I'm guessing since some enemies can only be killed by slashing in a certain direction this throws out the chance of using a regular GCN controller. :[

Really loving the graphics. Can't really say on the controls, WSR should prove they'll work really well so I do believe about the interference.

Like the flowery sort of theme it has going.

I'm sure the controls are actually very good. I do believe that there was major interference because you could see that the cursor thing was pretty much having a seizure. Either way, the game looking fucking amazing, and I'm not a Zelda fan at all. Will get Day 1.

Hell yes!!!

You saw, like, twenty seconds and a tutorial.

Hell, if the tutorial bit only lasts as long as it did on stage, it's already improved from TP.

There were two trailers, the second of which showed a variety of stuff and lasted over a minute I'm guessing. I'm praying they have an ace up their sleeve but just going off of what they showed today, I'm not impressed at all.

BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Thats the entire demo. Horrific.

Also I'm lefty too Dragona...yeah its not gonna be fun.

I'm sure the controls will work, I'm just worried about the necessity for constant motion in an adventure game. I hate the idea of the shield being mapped to the nunchuck.

There were interferance issues the moment they started which made the demo really unfortunate. Dont be so short sighted GAF. There's no reason it will play any less responsive than Wii Sports Resort, which was perfect.

EVERYONE was having control issues, we should hear better from impressions.

Come on, they're not gonna release Zelda with fucked up controls.

You could see the connection interference throughout Epic Mickey, too.

The pointer was moving every 5 or 6 frames. Terrible interference. Big shame.

I just don't understand why they didn't re-calibrate. I'm waiting for hands on to see if it was connection issues or just bad integration. If WSR is anything to write home about it'll be good.

Caught a little bit of a journalist playing at a booth right at the end of the GT stream. Controls looked smooth to me. I'm pretty sure people should just wait for the press reports, you'd have to be crazy to think that demo was at all representative of what the controls will be like.

That was awesome!

I didn't mind the Zelda thing since I'm sure the game will control better than that, 2011 and all. Watching the Iwata asks it actually plays well. But why does the overworld remind me of Conker's Bad Fur Day :lol I still can't wait though

In the demo the pointer was pointing into an audience with hundreds of cameras with IR doodads, which looked like the sensor bar and made the wiimote constantly recalibrate. You could see the pointer spazzing in Epic Mickey too.

As long as you don't have several dozen journalists standing behind your TV while you play, you should be fine. Still it was pretty disappointing for their presentation.

STILL HYPED

On the Iwata Asks, the developer explains how it has an "impressionist water-color painting art style". (sorry if old)

I just don't know, this looks like someone took Twilight Princess and slapped a cel shaded graphics style on it, even Link's voice sounds the exact same. Maybe it'll win me over once I've seen more of it, though.

Was I the only one expecting a bigger departure in the way the game looks? Don't get me wrong, it'll probably be a beautiful game, but IDK, I was expecting more after what they've said about trying to do something more than just another OOT.

I love the art style. Twilight Princess tried to be realistic and looked horrid. This is a nice mix of semi-realism and semi-Wind Waker.

It obviously didn't look like it played too good, but I believe it was all interference as one thing Ninty always does is polish their games and if it was in that state they wouldn't have shown it.

They showed gameplay on the E3 channel. Not only does it look great, but it really shows how the controls are meant to be. Aiming looks natural and doesn't look jumpy at all.

Do you people really think Nintendo is going to put out their class franchise with controls that don't respond to a basic swing? Really? Who are you kidding?

The controls will be near perfect if Wii Sports Resorts is any indication. Worked great for me and I know this will too.

Yeh not sure what to make of that one. Zelda is easily my all time fav series but this one looks.....unusual.

Not sold on the motion controls and the combination of 'serious' link mixed with cel shading was a little out there for me. Loved the Wind Waker design, probably would have preferred a return to that.

Either way I'm sure I won't be disappointed when I see the final product.

People really need to take the stage demo hiccups with a grain of salt. Something was clearly fucked up. The dude playing Epic Mickey was having cursor issues, too.

I can't wait for demo impressions. So excited! :D

Microsoft: :lol Now you know why we prerecorded our ON STAGE DEMOS!

Reggie: There was interference!

Microsoft: Not my problem

Exactly. As I mentioned earlier, the pointer in the Epic Mickey demo was also way out of whack and laggy, so I'm convinced there was serious interference.

Not this again. Hold the remote in your left hand. If it makes you feel any better, I will, too, and I'm a righty (who amazingly can still do stuff with his other hand).

But it's Nintendo's stupidity that prompts this in the first place. Put the goddamned sword back in Link's left hand, you morons. Link's left-handed, I'm right-handed, and it doesn't matter. Stop catering to idiocy.

Graphically it looks gorgeous.......but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little under whelmed.

No not by the controls.....which will be perfect! But it all looks like I've done it all already.

I am downloading the Zelda Press Kit atm. Artwork and Fact Sheet. 220MB big. Site is getting hammered. 50KB download

Also, looks as though the sword girl mightn't be the Master Sword. I think she's the Skyward Sword, a completely new sword and that the story won't involve the MS. Hell, it mightn't even involve Ganon.

Interference really hurt the presentation. The cursor was doing the same janky movement that you get whenever there is too much sunlight or it is not calibrated correctly.

If GAF doesn't realise this, then you need help.

Visually I thought it looked good, love the cel-shading, although the lighting seemed a little bit flat to me. Need more particles or something.

Animations are exactly like TP though. Makes it look like TP cel-shaded.

You're not alone, I was as well. But i'm still fine with what it is. The farther away from the ugly, blurry mess that was Twilight Princess, the better. Of course, a full return to WW style would be ideal :D.

It's obvious the huge conference hall with tons of flashes and lights all over the place will cause problems with the controller. My controller is fucked if there's a sun shining outside and there's some reflections on the table infront of the TV. Now imagine those reflections times thousand, and sure the controls will be fucked.

I can't wait for this game (and tons of other stuff shown)!

Good to hear. They should have had Miyamoto looking away from the audience for the conference.

I thought it looked.. the same game.. but worse. Nothing really original stood out apart from the controls which looked the worst part. Ho Hum.
