The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword announced for Wii [N-CONF]

Hmm so it'll probably be shorter/smaller in size compared to Twilight, but more dense. Sounds great to me as the pacing was a little bit off a few times through TP.

Can't say I'm particularly impressed with the graphics. Don't like the forced painting look on semi-realistic characters.

But Twilight Princess came a long way from its E3 2005 showing, so I have high hopes for the graphics when the game will be released in 2011.
First thing to be reworked? Link's eyes:

Although im psyched about Link's design and the overall visual style of the game, I have to say all the enemy design except for the skulltullas, scorpion boss and octorocks are atrocious . I hope they're just place holders. They need to borrow the artist from monster hunter to redesign the enemies.

Let me ask you guys something, did any first revealing of a console zelda feature levels with complex and detailed environment? I remember all of them looking like tech demos to show the game mechanics. I don't remember any of them making their way into final game. Chill out people.

People are bitching about this? Fucking hell. Zelda fans are the most fickle, picky fans around.

Wind Waker = "UGH TOO KIDDY"

Twilight Princess = "UGH TOO BROWN"

A style between the two = "UGH LINK LOOKS OUT OF PLACE"

Impossible to please everyone. One group is always going to be miserable about something. :lol

I agree. Link is suffering from dolls eyes. Hopefully he'll show a bit more expression.

BTW check out that kotaku video where the guy zooms out and shows the map. It looks like LTTP!

It would be great if someone could post these pictures here.

Wasn't this game supposed to out do Monster Hunter Tri?

Don't get me wrong, the game has a FANTASTIC art style, but technically it looks like some shit. It's doing some cool effects like the painting effect in distant backgrounds instead of depth of field but other than that, TP takes a shit on it technically.

Yes, it's still early in dev (actually I hope not) but come on! Where are the beatiful almost inviting environments??

I guess you don't remember how horrible WW looked when they first showed it. Just as must as the art style it was THE reason why the reaction was so negative. This looks much better than WW did when it was first shown, I'm going to be patient and so should you.

They SERIOULSY need to rethink and redo the HUD. Zelda has been a cluttered mess in TP and in this new game it seems even more full of unnecessary icons and such. Really, everything looks so freaking great, give me a HUD-less game for God's sake Nintendo.

Or at least a better one.

THIS

The HUD they've shown is SHIT. I seriously hope it isn't final, but they used a horribly large one for the wii TP.

In the other thread I said that I wanted the visual style of TP, but without the "dipped in tea" look, and put through an Okami-lite filter.

Yeah, pretty much this:D

If you had followed the interview with Miyamoto and Aonuma, you would have not wrote that shit.

The interview is HERE, up right

Bang on, today was a good day.

Love the art direction (cel shaded plus older link = WIN).

Maybe if the hud would only show when you stopped, that would clean it up a little.

Lastly, that whip looks awesome.

When does anyone think we will see it?

I havent read through this yet, but... Motion+ for aiming has to be the dumbest thing I have ever seen. Give me back the normal aiming.. tskk.

It's a video interview so it will require some time.

Oh, ok. I thought it was text for some reason. I'll watch in about an hour when I get home. Thanks.

I think the art style looks pretty cool from the screenshots. I'd love to see what some dungeons would look like. I hope this comes out early next year but will probably be fall 2011. :(

More impressions:

I really like how Zelda Informer mentioned Zelda II. I didn't even think of that while watching but imagining a battle system similar to Zelda II sounds awesome. Now I can enjoy the battle system without totally feeling inadequate. :lol

They better make Darknuts super hard again.

edit: Oh and confirmation of dashing! Too bad the roll is gone. I loved rolling.

The video interview won't load here.
But I think it only makes sense that the HUD is optional and that they're saying in the video how they wanted to make Zelda more accessible to a wider audience.

In the Iwata Asks interview Aonuma said the development staff said the exact same thing initially. According to him the aiming system they are using not only works better, it feels better as well. Additionally, the aiming system actually uses both the pointer and motion plus. The aiming isn't done strictly through motion.

Once I held the Wiimote in my hands, I could tell why Miyamoto was so flabbergasted on stage. The MotionPlus swordfighting works immaculately well. I was a big fan of Red Steel 2's implementation of Wii MotionPlus combat, but Zelda just does it so much better. Every single swing of my arm was instantly recognized by the game and translated into corresponding movements of the Master Sword.

Thaaaaaats what I'm talking about :D

Some info on the gameplay would be great, such as difficulty, size and scope of the world, story, etc. This is coming off as a teaser at best, which is normally fine but we were originally led to believe that this would be a 2010 release. It seems pretty clear that this will hit shelves no sooner than holiday 2011. Spring I could live with, but there's no way in hell imo. They'll blow out the details at next year's E3, then the game will launch around September - November. Which is a shame. Hopefully this time around they'll at least give us a steady flow of screenshots. Least they can do after taking all this time.

Third one. Holy crap. Every screen is 4 to 15 MB! Resize, upload; resize, upload. Just I hope that the hosting site will not screw me.

Totally dude. I want LESS on-screen cluttering !
