Easily the worst part of the game. That was an offensively terrible idea.

That's every new Zelda game for me :p
Well I thought TP was better that Ocarina but SS expands upon everything that Ocarina did and makes it way better, from adventuring to fighting to the story itself. MM is fantastic but it's a sidestory, WW expands one possible OoT storyline though is arguably light on gameplay, TP relies less on mythos but is really really fun to play, and SS delivers both.

SS even provides something for Nintendo to build future sequels from that isn't OoT, which I'm both sad and grateful for.

Nah, not really.
If you don't know how to look around corners before shooting, a.k.a. run and gun FPS style instead of methodical approach
then yes you will clearly find this level frustrating.

What's that? The
big Bokoblins blocking your way
? Simply bomb the shit outta them!
That's what your Beatle is for!

Just beat 6th dungeon. Have a quick question.
I havent goneto the gate of time yet in the forest as im doing side stuff a bit. I was wondering if its possible to get the hylian sheild now or is that further in the story? I dont kniow if its a side item or a story driven item but I heard something abuot a dragon in the desert that you can get it from. Have no idea what that means. So can i get it now or should i just continue with the story. Please dont spoil anything besides this though.

also question about a side quest.
the person inthe bathroom crying wanted paper but when i got theletter I chose to do the relationship stuff with pitpit and that girl. does this mean ill never be able to do the bathroom quest? when i went back to the bathroom she said just forget it

Okay, only going off what you say:
You'll meet said dragon as part of the main quest. So no, you can't get the Hylian Shield yet.

1. Keep going with the story. You'll know when you can get the shield, and if by some chance you miss it, the game gives you a very clear warning about the point of no return.

2. You will never be able to do the alternative for that quest. It's one or the other.

Well it was time. I wonder how far away from the lttp/oot structure they will take the franchise in the next couple installments. I'm sure we will get a remake of both MM and WW at some point, at least that should help with ones Oot formula fix.

shit?

Not until now at Eldin. And I was loving it the past times actually, the atmosphere and the challenge is really refreshing, but I knew it, I was dreading having to do at Eldin volcano, that place is already hell, I can hardly wrap my head around navigating it as it is, but the stealth and collection element multiplies the suffering.

It's the most stuck I've been so far. On my first attempt I had 2 left before running out of time and getting killed, on my second attempt I had 1 left but kept missing it on one of the big slides, and on my third attempt I got them all but was killed on the way back to the portal. I then quit and haven't been very motivated to try it again.

Spoiler Pre-Dungeon 6
I thought the timer as disabled once you have them all? I know you can still die and activate them, but the timer itself is off, right? I dunno. I didn't have too much trouble. Also, a neat hint is if you're finding it difficult to find the next tears, when you get one of those pearls that last 30 seconds, look at the view and add beacons to those locations on the map! I found the pearls were frequent enough not to bother too much with the beacons, though.

My only problem with that is that it was over too quickly. They should have kept it going longer to get more uses out of the items.

I thought the same thing.

It's by far the best
stealth segment in a Zelda game,
and I wish they took a little longer to get more mileage out of it.

shit?

I hated them at first, they got more passable but I couldn't enjoy any of them. One part that threw me off was that those spotters behaved inconsistently, some would activate as soon as you came within two meters of them while others didn't do shit however close you got (some even require you to come reaaaally close to get the tear). If I'm to enjoy stealth I have to know what to expect from every enemy, not (as far as I could see) random stuff like that.

Plus they're more collection stuff, yaaay ...

Edit:

Agreed, I thought it was great though like a lot of other stuff it could of course have been better. I'm surprised to see people not liking it at all, but then again I've liked a lot in this game that others have blasted. I just hope I don't appear too zealous defending the game...

The Eldin
stealth section
would have pissed me off it you had been
sent back to the beginning if caught, but it just sends you back to the last bird statue you stopped at. Was a big relief the one time I got spotted.

Taking the left road. Shooting arrows from long distance. I got it done in a couple of minutes. I enjoyed it cause the bow is so fun to use. Exactly like Alberto said: to each his own, though.

The worst part for me was the

. Definition of "NOT-FUN" :| (the underground segment are not so good, either).

Yep. I really enjoyed that part and wished it was longer (and not as linear).

Fuck
The Imprisoned....
(Just sealed it for the third time and that fight can be such a bitch)

The second fight was the only bad and tense one for me. I actually lost during boss rush once.

2. Damn how does the other side if the quest go>?

If you give the paper to the person in the bathroom (which is actually a disembodied female hand) Cawlin is haunted by her at night because she fell in love with him after reading the letter, and she lovingly strokes him while he sleeps while having nightmares. She gives you the five Gratitude Crystals instead, Pipit and Karane never get together.

i think somethings wrong

i never got the
gratitude crystals from the hand or from the sister when i had to give her the medicine near fun fun island. i thought there was a part 2 for the toilet hand thing so im like wtf didnt i get my crystals? :(

i could be wrong but i really honestly dont remember getting any crystals from those sidequests. the brother gave me crystals but i read both of them were supposed to. similarly, i dont remember getting shit from the hand besides a thank you. ill finish all the quests and find the lone crystals and see if it all adds up. otherwise, grrr

Yeah, I just did that now. Compared to what I was complaining about, what you complained about is not even in the same league.

Darn it. I just came across that infamous Fi spoiler during my last play session (5th dungeon). At least I think that's what was talked about here. It happens soon after the first set of puzzles. I don't remember 100% correctly but I'm pretty sure I pressed down.

Seriously... Out of all the things people are complaining about in this game, this is probably the thing I understand the least.

Yeah pretty much.
I had fun shooting at people with the bow. Really the only part that bugged me was that he would stop dead in his tracks if an enemy was near, even if I ran away. Would have been nice if we could have told him to stay in one spot then call him after.

Though maybe I'm just easy to please. I thought the
tadtones
were fun. I just didn't like the fact that
the reason for collecting them is that the water dragon is an idiotic bitch

So I'm in the dowsing section of the Lanayru Desert..

Is there an easier way to move these electric ball things around without tossing them? I'm on the part where I have to toss one up like 5 blocks and it's so fucking frustrating. Who the fucks idea was this?

EDIT: ah i see you can use the beatle

Once I get to the 5th dungeon I will look away everytime Fi pops up. Problem, Fi?

I just beat it myself, at the longest I've ever spent on a Zelda game, 56 hours.

It's (probably) my favorite Zelda, it felt like such a natural sequel to Wind Waker as opposed to the overly coddling Twilight Princess. I was initially a little bummed by the number of dungeons, but I think the great overworld segments more than make up for that. I had just replayed Twilight Princess a couple of months ago and while the dungeons were larger, I think I just had more fun in Skyward Sword's.

The only negatives to me are the constant item messages each time you load a save and Fi's constant babbling.

Did I miss some dowsing abilities? I got gratitude crystals and goddess boxes but had two empty spots left on the circle. I figured one of them would be for heart pieces (or the fortune teller).

Nearing the end of the game and i have to say this game is incredible. The motion controls are great and really add to the experience. There was multiple times I would get my ass off the couch and get into the boss battles swinging my Wii mote. The combat is such an improvement over past titles and gives you more options when approaching an enemy. This is gonna end up my favorite zelda game and hope Nintendo expands on this. Also really liked how the items had a ancient/futureistic look.

Just ignore the beeps from the beginning and you're already doing a better job than half the overreacters in this thread. Sure, she can still be annoying, but it's really not game-breakingly bad. The only time I have felt really bothered is pre dungeon 3.

Anyway, im post-dungeon 6 and im wondering how to trigger the remaining downsing targets? I currently have
hearts, rupees, treasure and godess cubes.
Most get triggered from talking to random people so perhaps they'll just come along as I explore?

For my experience with the 2nd one, let's just say that Anihawk was right on the money about triggering Shia LaBeouf "Nononono" moments.

But that was the most tense I have ever been a Zelda game, period.

Yeah, I just did that now. Compared to what I was complaining about, what you complained about is not even in the same league.

Well... the area is big, the controls are not fun, the notes are really small, they reset if you don't complete a group after a few seconds, it felt like a totally unnecessary and forced gameplay section (a platforming section would have been much better) that made no sense and Faron is an asshole :)P).
Maybe if the
tadtones
were marked on the map, it wouldn't be so bad.

What is the infamous Fi spoiler?

Dungeon 5:
After you hit the timeshift crystal and get the key for the door, you go downstairs and the path to the chest with the dungeon map changed, and the door to it is covered by electricity. There's light coming in from above, and a bobokin you fight. Immediately after I fought it Fi came out, said YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO HIT THE TIMESHFT CRYSTAL FROM HERE, along with a camera pan slowly up thought the grate just to make sure I knew where it was.

I NEVER hit down on the dpad, she just came out and said it. There's varying reports saying this didn't happen to everybody, but she popped out for me and I was really annoyed. That would have been a really neat thing to see for myself, considering it's a repeating mechanic for the entire dungeon.

She also spoiled something in predungeon 3:
When I had to match the 3 symbols, I got one right and the other two wrong the first time. Then before I had a chance to think about it Fi came out, forced me to open the map, and said "Maybe the symbols coorelate with the position on the map!".

MechaX

Once I get back home, I'll get through the 5th dungeon to also add my experience to the tally either way.

With that said, that Pre-3rd Dungeon part did happen for me and I was pretty pissed at Fi for ruining it upon a single fuckup.

Read only if you finished the 5th dungeon (2nd in desert area):
After the ship has been transferred to the past, you come across a set of two rooms where access to the other is blocked by an electric fence.
Then the Fi button started signalling as soon as I entered the room. I haven't even realized that there was a problem coming up since there were enemies I had to deal with first. Naturally I pressed down (I suspected it had something to do with the enemy encounter at first) and Fi told me the solution to a puzzle which I haven't even detected yet:
Shoot through the grate at the roof to hit the time stone and the electric fence turns off.

Yeah, Fi can be very annoying, but I don't recall her spoiling anything. I do remember her giving me a hint on a puzzle early on in the game.. I think, I am not really sure.

So I'm at the end of the game, and I'm sick and tired of playing it, and just want to get it over with.

What do I need to do
during phase three of the Ghirahim fight, when he has the larger sword
?
