It seems that you have to wait until your sword gets struck by lightening. Sometimes it happens right away, sometimes not. I don't know if it's luck, or I need to do something to make lightening strike. I'll get hit three times before a lightening strike sometimes. I've probably done this fight 10 times now.
You can also use the shield bash move to block three of his attacks in a row, which leaves him open to a quick sword strike. It only took me three attempts to beat him using this method, but it does require timing.

wow fuck this part i'm on now, not that its hard , but the motion controls make it hard :/

fucking spiral charge training :/ , i'm on my 6th attempt now 0_o

Hm, so I played the introduction and I'm now in the middle of the first forst, searching for these fat weird creatures which are supposed to be funny I guess. So far the graphics seem bland (and I'm playing that thing with dolphin), waggle-swordplay while in theory cool is more of an annoyance and everything feels just so...bland? Almost retro? Weird game. Hope it get's better.

Just wait until you've done the first dungeon. The opening of the game does drag a little in the forest.

I found that a little annoying too but I had a better time it would seem. I was on target nine twice before running out of time and then on my third try I did it with more than 50 seconds left on the clock.

I'd suggest making slow deliberate movements and if you miss don't turn right away. Also avoid moving targets unless you have a sure shot.

How are you people taking 40+ hours to beat this game? I beat it in around 30 with the Hylian Shield, two extra heart containers, a bunch of sidequests done, etc....

What the heck XD!

Which dipshit at Nintendo thought it would be cool to have an escort mission in the game? Morons.

If this hadn't been brought up 50 times in this thread I would never have remembered this part. I totally acknowledge that something about it must be giving people fits because there are plenty of complaints in here about it, but it's the prime example of how wildly varied the play experiences for this game are. I think when I got to it I thought "well this is kinda unnecessary", but it took me like two minutes and it was fun picking everyone off with arrows. To me it was literally the least annoying escort mission I'd ever played. (I hate them.)

Meanwhile, the tear collecting was like a burrito filled with the five things I despise most in videogames.

*shrug* I finished at 45 hours with three or four extra hearts, 60 crystals and a couple of upgrades. I did a lot of touring around in between dungeons and probably an hour or two idle, at least.

Someone earlier mentioned they were at ONE HUNDRED HOURS and at the fifth dungeon or something, though. Maybe it was a typo??

I'm at 50 hours and at the final boss. And I haven't wasted any time. I don't suck, either, lol. I didn't get stuck once for over 5-10 minutes. I don't know... I just like exploring. I went into every nook and cranny and talked to everybody continuously to get new dialogue throughout the game. Which there is a lot of, I don't think people realise all the changes that happen after every chapter of the game. There's a lot you can miss out on if you just focus on the main story. I spent quite a bit of time on the large amount of minigames too, have all the gratitude crystals and just about all the heart pieces/goddess cubes.

On a replay I'll probably end up around 40 hours. I don't even know how people are finishing it in 30 :S I'm convinced they missed out on heaps of side stuff. Which doesn't matter I guess if you don't care about it, but it really helps build the feeling of the world imo.

Snipe. Snipe. Snipe. And use
Beetle bomb
on big Bokoblin. Don't forget to save in the statue before killing
the two Lizardfos dudes
.

Trust me, it isn't that hard if you're carefull and have a large quiver at hand.

Papercuts

It was set up in the absolute most retarded way possible and the issues with it would be fixed with a SIMPLE command to make him wait/come back.

Are people still complaining about this? If it wasn't for this thread I wouldn't have given it a second thought. Is it because it's hard for some reason...? I understand the reasoning was dumb, they didn't even try and make a proper explanation, but the actual act of climbing the mountain was quick and easy. Arrows. 5 minutes. And it's over.

Though I enjoyed all the tear trials and
dragon
quests also. Maybe I'm one of the few who actually likes it when Zelda games do something other than overworld -> dungeon -> overworld -> dungeon

They are called moblins.

The only thing I found remotely boring was
the return to Skyview Temple
and that took me like 10 minutes.

This is how I played it.

My finally tally was 54 hours. And I know I missed out on a few things.

So i'm up to the
find the dragons
game breaking bug thing. I went to Faron Woods but
The door was shut, so I went to Eldin Volcano instead and now i'm doing the lost Items thing. Am I doing this right? I purposely didn't even save yet because I don't know If I'm doing this right.
uggh this is so annoying Nintendo.
Edit: I guess I'll post it in the other thread as well. I didn't see it at first.

At Faron:
You have to enter the temple before going into the woods. But yes, if you did Eldin first then the stealth mission is what you're supposed to be doing

I beat the game in nearly 55 hours, almost 100% (the only thing I didn't do was
beating the Boss Rush
). In this sort of game, I usually take my time and backtrack heavily every time I get a new item/ability, to look for more secrets/side stuff.

Wow. 30 hour play time is a huge rush fest what a waste of time. Enjoy the dam game!

I hit 50 hours and have collected all hearts and gratitude crystals and goddess cube chests.
As well as made way in the Boss Rush to get the Hylian Shield before defeating Demise.
Then defeated the Boss Rush completely after that on my first full run!

I actually think that for a full "mastered" run, Skyward Sword was 10 hours shorter then my Twilight Princess run! They're both dam good games!

Hey game, don't try to break the flow with more fetch quests!
After fighting a giant parasite on a giant Wind Fish (at least I think that was what Nintendo was trying to get at here), he's like "No, I don't know where the Triforce is. Buuuutt.... you need to learn three pieces of this new song! And gueeesssss where they are? :\

So naturally, I go to Faron to check up on Grannie and
Groose
, and I have to fight
The Imprisoned?
Jeez man, it was only like an hour since I last fought this guy.

Yeah, but
the Imprisoned
gets easier each time.

What's this game breaking bug and how do I avoid it?

near the end of the game, youll have to do something in any order you choose, but if you do it one particular way, it breaks the game

just do the one that starts with "L" last. youll know what that means when you get there

Yeah, this isn't too bad...

WTF IT CAN
FLY

OH SHIT
GROOSE IS OUT OF BOMBS

I hated this part.
I lost twice because the game does not at all make it clear about what to do. Groose tells you to "get up here!" and then the first time you talk to him he says "get on his head!" with no indication how.

There is no "incorrect" order that will always break the game. It has entirely to do with talking to a certain NPC after doing one part but before doing the others, not the actual order.

haha, that moment was so cool, i had the same reaction. this game had so many cool moments.

I'm sure they still enjoyed the game at 30 hours, but I agree, 30 hours on your first play through is definitely rushing (whether they meant to or not). Which is fine I guess, as not everybody is so obsessed with Zelda games that they have to extract every last detail, but it is a shame as they would have missed out on a lot of cool side things.

Use your head to get on his head. There is a catapult right next to you.
Seriously do you guys want Fi popping up or not?

I thought it was painfully obvious (though I watched Robin Hood with Kevin Costner recently, so that may have influenced my mind). It wasn't difficult, just tedious.

I kinda lucked out here.
I got up there thinking that Groose wanted to borrow one of my bombs to lob, and Groose was like "Okay, you need to get on its head!" and I was like "Goddamnit Groose, I could have just taken the central air current up there if that was your pl-... Oh... Oh..."

i died a few times during this battle, a few times because
i couldnt beat him in time so he destroys the temple. pretty cool to watch though
. ended up having to use both the stamina and the guardian potions

the end part is awesome though, hehe

I may not be the biggest fan of the game but people complaining about the escort mission must be really easy to annoy. It was pretty simple.
Now let's see if these tadtone things will really be annoying once I get to them.

Only time will tell, but for many reasons, I honestly think this is the best Zelda yet.

I hated that part. While playing it I wished that the game was more open ended ala Mass Effect so that I could have selected an option to
tell Faron to go fuck herself and give me the song piece or end up with the Master sword in her head Ganon style. Which would lead to an extremely satisfying boss fight where you kill the asshole.

Just finished it, thoughts:

I had picked the old bird was Impa ages ago, but the reveal that Ghirahim was the antithesis of Fi was really cool. Hadn't thought of that.

Demise's proper form looked so amazing, art style for the win.

The death of Ganondorf in Wind Waker (sword in the head) seems very significant now after fighting the Imprisoned and seeing the scar on Demise's forehead. The legend repeats itself in many ways it seems.

I absolutely do not understand the thought process behind
the Water Dragon.
It's like
"I got annoyed with the monsters. So I flooded the forest. All of it. Oh, what's that you have there? The Master Sword? All the Flames? And you know what the Triforce is? You must be the Goddess's Hero! But I'm not convinced. Go get these 50 musical notes under the sea."

Given how everything is under my power as opposed to the whims of an AI, I'm not nearly as mad at this section as I was a certain Eldin section. But in terms of Nintendo's effort to make a halfway decent reason for a fetch quest, I'm more like ":/" than anything else.

I would much rather have swapped the fetch quest for
Bokoblin genocide. Go into their lairs and slaughter every last one of them to clean up the region.

And it makes more sense narrative wise!

I finished the third
Eldin silent realm
area and went through the
Eldin Volcano to douse the frog head statues with water.
Sounds like that escort mission may be next based on what Fi said. Whatever is next, I'll do it tomorrow.
