I don't see what is so ridiculous about assuming that you can shoot an enemy with an arrow where they are completely unprotected by a shield. This should be obvious to a Zelda veteran. I believe that it also took me five arrows with an upgraded bow and charged shot.

Not quite what I was getting at with that statement. What is ridiculous was that it went down with the claimed amount on the other page, two-three arrows, when it has been pretty much THE beefy enemy in the game. But 5 arrows with an upgraded bow at that only emphasizes my point in taking them on close range as to conserve arrows just in case the enemy didn't drop arrows (and when considering there were at least 20 bow enemies to 3 of the spear guys).

Fully upgraded bow and a fully charged shot takes exactly three arrows. Pair that up with a fully upgraded quiver means you should never run out of arrows unless you have abysmal aim.

I'm just at a loss as to how anyone can get so worked up over such an easy, quick portion of a video game. So worked up that you gotta go rant about it on the boards afterwards.

I'm at a loss as to how you can get so worked up over someone not liking a portion of a video game that you had no problems with.

Also, this is a very very VERY VERY specific spoiler for the very very end of the game, but
I think this game may have dethroned Wind Waker for 'most amazing finishing blow in gaming'. Not as brutal as a sword to the head, but flipping through the air, getting your sword hit by lightning in MID-FUCKING-AIR and landing it right into Oni Akuma's stomach? SO AWESOME.

Conserve arrows for what? It's a Zelda game. Anytime a part of game REQUIRES you to use arrows, it will give them to you freely. I always just go nuts using all my stuff.

Post dung 6:
I approached the escort mission, just like the masts in dungeon 5, both of which had archer enemies - i took them down with the bow. As for the so-called 'logic' of using bows on enemies that you didn't use on before, again, it's a Zelda game. When I enter a familiar arrow with new abilities, I try out the new abilities.

Arrow Bokoblins can drop arrows

You can pick up arrows that they shoot too, provided they missed you

Maybe it was because I was carrying the Treasure Medal but the dig holes had an insane amount of Deku Nuts (which are good enough for destroying bats and stunning other enemies)

IIRC there are lots of jars that contained arrows too

also I had a Large Quiver

who's this Oni Akuma clown? :p the final boss is the Devil and Galactus combined before he became the 2nd ultimate Nintendo villain. 1st is of course Bowser

Ghirahim is pretty badass in his own way

Someone, in this very topic even, actually did end up getting stuck in Dungeon 5 simply because he ran out of arrows when they were actually required and the game actually didn't give them out freely. If that actually slipped by, why even take the chance when the alternative was/should have been "take 10 more seconds, engage them at close range."

Some of the Arrow Bokoblins did drop arrows. But more often than not, I was taking them out at a range where the arrows would be gone by the time I get to them. And when digging holes, all I ever got were rupees. Didn't have the Large Quiver, though.

Dude looks like Oni Akuma! Except less blue. Not seeing the Galactus thing. Either way, it's easily my favourite villain design to come out of EAD. Except Bowser, yes :p

I liked how Fi technically wasn't the actual Master Sword, and Ghirahim was the evil Master Sword. Nice misdirect there, Nintendo... I think? :lol

Game was fun for me. First console game in years, and Zelda's still got it.

I still have a soft spot for Ocarina, though.

Yeah. But according to Fi/SS, the final boss is the source of all monsters, and everyone that looks upon him sees a different shape. He is a lot like Galactus in that way. Bowser is #1 because he actually destroyed the universe, raaawwwr

Ghirahim's 3rd Form is amazing.

And yeah I do like that the boss's final sword was an evil version of the Master Sword. It's especially creepy with the upside-down Triforce.

The whole tone of both final battles is perfect.

Ah, righto, that makes sense.

Ghirahim's 3rd Form is amazing.

Reminded me of Ganondorf's big-ass sword from way back at Spaceworld, or Melee. Ghirahim's 3rd form is fantastic, indeed- he's actually menacing for the first time in the game... and then he meets his, um, demise. Poor guy. :lol

Ah, almost there. Been doing some sidequesting, and I think I'm almost ready to start the final part, just need to make a bit more rupees and catch some bugs. All gratitude crystals found!

So here's the plan: (Endgame spoilers)
For the final part, I'll pack all five bottles, one Life Medal, one Potion Medal and the Hylian Shield. The Bottles will be two Guardian+, two Heart++ and a Fairy (just in case). Or should I go with three Guardian+ or Heart++ potions?

I'll, of course, fund this by beating up the bosses once again. 3000 rupees will cover it all nicely.

Anyway, I'll get all this, leave the last three Heart Pieces be, as I'm getting a bit bored of hunting those, and enter the final dungeon with 18 hearts.

I'm doing this because you guys say the final boss is difficult, so I'm going to greet it with 8 minutes of invincibility if it starts to push back. It's a dirty tactic, but it isn't cheap. Guardian potions are expensive and those bugs are rare. You guys think this'll do, or is it overkill? I haven't died yet in the game, although there have been one or two close calls. Against
Ghirahim
, and I think there's a rematch coming.

Also, should I copy my save file now, or does it prompt me with
Hero Mode
so I can avoid overwriting it?

Got two heart pieces from mini-games. Great, because I hate getting heart pieces from mini games and now I don't have to play these mini-games ever again. Ok, shooting pumpkins was actually fun. :)

The three challenges were also surprisingly fun. I originally thought I'd hate them, but they were not that difficult and had a cool atmosphere.

Now I'm heading for dungeon six and I was reminded again (but always forgot to mention it), that Fi is not the only thing that can spoil puzzles. Those slabs with text on them also tell you about how to progress and they're actually worse than Fi, but perfectly avoidable - just don't read them.

Truth be told, I only ever used a shield during that fight. And I absolutely needed it.
is there a way to beat Demise without a shield?

Someone posted a video earlier of Link adminstering an unholy beatdown on that fight so yes, it's possible.

I apparently did not beat that fight the intended way, but I thought it was very easy anyway and in no way requires
the Hylian Shield
.

I didn't know you were supposed to hit him with a Skyward Strike in the second round
because that bitch Fi lies about it. That's what I get for listening to her. That said, the pattern was super simple.
Round one--parry, swipe. Rinse, repeat. Round two--parry three times, swipe. Rinse, repeat. The end.

Yeah, I was doing the
parry parry parry swipe thing for a while but then i accidentaly got a lightning bolt and was like "OH so much easier!"

If you haven't died yet you are probably going to annihilate the last boss. I think some people might be overthinking it or just approaching it the wrong way but to me it was the easiest last Zelda boss ever. And I'm no savant, I died (or fairy-revived) a couple of times during the course of the game.

You can, but you can't be badass without it

there's a video in the spoiler thread where a guy kept combo-ing with precise shield parries and thunderbolts and beat him in like 30 seconds

No you don't need to do all that. At most I would have one infused Guardian potion.

Pretty much. It's a very easy fight. No reason it couldn't be completed with the very first wooden shield.

Honestly? The final boss fight is not that hard. I beat him using two bottles of red potion and the
Hylian Shield

He fucking destroyed like 5 times in a row because I couldn't get the shield timing down right. I was probably being far too aggressive. And yes, the second part took me a while to figure out.

I didn't get the trick for the later part at first and went like fifteen minutes doing no damage before ultimately dying. Then on round 2 it clicked and I won in less than a minute, getting hit only once.

I hit a single heart against a boss, but I managed to drink a potion before it hit. Actually it hit mid-drink, but that's the closest I've been. And I still had a reserve fairy there.

The easiest final Zelda boss I've seen so far is the one from Ocarina of Time. He looks worse than he is. If he had a proper fighting stance, he'd be a lot tougher, but I doubt the "Roll between legs, use Deku Nut on tail" strategy is even close to what this one needs.

Besides, I like being over-prepared. You should have seen my OoT Master Quest DS game. There's "being prepared" and there's getting the invincibility spell after the forest temple. Did you know Morpha is immune to Ice Arrows, by the way? Kind of disappointing.

Anyway, half the fun of being over-prepared comes from being over-prepared. (The other half is beating the snot out of what was supposed to be a big fight.)

Man this game seems huge! I'm the type who likes to take my time and explorer every part of everything and take in all the details of areas so I think this is going to take me so long to finish.
I'm 12 hours in and only just walked into the second dungeon. Have I still got a massive crapload of content to go? How long did it take others to get this far?

It was annoying, because I trekked ALL the way back to Skyloft, got a whole load of potions (first time I'd used the bug potion stuff too, which was nice to try out), go all the way back to the thingy, start the fight and then be all like 'ohhhhh', and destroy him. I did end up using the Potion++ I bought at least, so it wasn't a total waste of time. :lol

12 hours seems a bit slow but if you took your time and did a few side quests I suppose I could see it taking that long. In my case It took me roughly 5 hours to do each dungeon zone and I did maybe 5 hours of extra crap.

Yeah it's a breeze once you get it.
Whether that be the timing or the necessity of conducting lightning seems dependent on the player.

I actually had a much harder time with
The Imprisoned, until learning the trick with him. Outside of that I think the only two bosses who even touched me were Scaldera (because I kept bringing up the item menu instead of just tapping to bring out a bomb), and Koloktos, when occasionally I'd do a side jump to get away from his arms but get hit anyway. Everyone else was super easy.

Ghirahim fight 3 gave me some trouble at the very end, not because he was damaging me but because he kept moving and I'd need to reset attacking the sword.

I never fully worked out how the finishing strike in the last fight worked. Demise kept rolling out of the way, like three times before the sword finally connected. I'm not sure if I had the timing wrong or if that's meant to happen. The first time he did it, he got up right away and swung at me. That's how I ended up getting hit.

You need to be super fast with that. Like, immediate response... I think.

I guess the final dungeon is an acquired taste.
My cousin called me up saying it was the worst thing ever in a zelda game because slide puzzles are inherently bad and make the dungeon impossible to get through.
I thought it was an awesome dungeon.

I thought the boss was kind of phoned in and the dungeon was actually pretty good.

I actually would've liked if
they had an original boss fight in the dungeon and then had the second Ghirahim fight during some part of the song of the hero quest. Would've made both a bit more interesting. Still I liked the second Ghirahim fight.

Ha. You don't even have to... solve it like a traditional puzzle of that type. There's probably a dozen different ways to finish it. When I first saw what they were doing I thought, "Oh fuck," because I'm terrible at those. But there's hardly anything to figure out at all. Neat dungeon concept though, for sure.

Yeah when he called he was mad because he couldn't get all the rooms to match up. I explained to him that he won't be able to match them all up at once and he then seemed to understand. He ended by saying he hopes the final boss section makes up for the horrible final dungeon.

That should be apparent from the start, since the immobile block (which represents the current room that you're in) prevents you from fully shifting around the entire puzzle in such a way that renders the entire dungeon accessible at any one time. I also don't think that you could match all the rooms up, even if you could move them around freely. I thought that the entire final dungeon was brilliant - perhaps the best since LTTP.

Actually regarding the final dungeon...

You can get them all to line up. It's possible to position them in such a way from the very start that you can complete the process at the 2nd panel you come to. Unfortunately, you're supposed to enter the 2nd to last room from the opposite direction than this path will allow, and you have to change things towards the end.

That's pretty interesting. Funnily enough though, I ended up
skipping an entire room due to the way I lined up the rooms. I had gotten the third piece and couldn't be bothered to explore a room that had no treasures.

About to head into what I assume is the final dungeon. Finally that
bird statue with the red eye got an explanation! Cool that they foreshadowed it at the very start of the game.

Anyway, a few questions:

I'm considering getting all the pieces of hearts and remaining goddess cubes (already have all the gratitude crystals). Except I might skip the last few pieces of heart. I can't be bothered doing
bosh rush or silent realms
again, and I assume others come from minigames. I got the one from FunFun Island amazingly but I can't get higher than 43 with the bamboo... My highest is 31 :/ And I guess other minigames reward heart pieces for top scores.
Are there enough pieces of hearts to fill out the remainder of the hearts row (if so, wow ._.)? Or can that only be full if you use the life medallion things?

And with the goddess cube dowsing.. will that beep and show an arrow no matter where I am within the whole area, or do I have to be in the specific section with it? Hopefully the former, as I can then easily know when I've got them all.

Lastly, what's with those 2 rooms in Eldin that you can only access after the last time you return there? The ones with the Gossip Stones that call you a "know it all". Those rooms don't seem to serve any purpose, lol.

Yes the Life Medals are the last 2 Heart Containers

and my highest Bamboo score is 34, and I got that with the original Goddess Sword, I matched it once with the last sword, I need to try harder :/

I think the last Heart Piece for me is at the Thrill Digger game but I'm not sure, does anyone know if it has a Heart Piece?
