I'm running out of Lego Star Wars to get. I don't want any Clone Wars or Episodes 1-3. I have a $100 in Lego Store credit and can't find anything I want. :(

Got a Lego Star Wars Advent Calendar, though. :)

My friend and I were trying to feel up those minifig packs to find a scientist and a hazmat guy... until a Toys R Us employee walked by, which felt real awkward so we just kinda hurried up and left.

I've bought three minifigures in my life. First time I got a soccer guy. The second time was at Borders when they were discounted so I bought two. A soccer guy and a hazmat guy. I feel jinxed that if I bought another orange pack I'd get a soccer guy again. The hazmat is super cool though.

Next time, don't.

Lego is a product, not a toy, so much so that The Lego Group now cater and produce sets specifically for the adult fan with the bigger wallet. It's a demographic they're more than aware of, one that's only hurt by that embarrassment of closet fans.

I'm 25, I fucking love Lego.

Haha, it wasn't from feeling embarrassed, it was from feeling like we were "cheating the system" in plain view. Walked out with minifigs, just without pinpointing the ones we wanted.

Ah, sorry- probably went a bit crazy on you there! Yeah i've done that too, pretty sure everyone that's ever bought one has.

Bricklink will have what you need though- it's a good resource for buying the figs without the sets, and the bagged minifigs are no exception.

I'm cleaning out the basement, filled up 3 massive bins with assorted Legos. I hate to just give them away, is there a good aftermarket?

S

I think part of the problem lies with the Lego 'community' itself. That TFOL / AFOL* shit is creepy.

*TFOL = Teenage Fan of Lego, AFOL = Adult Fan of Lego.

yes. If its clean (if in doubt, put in pillowcase and wash in washing machine), you can sell it by weight on ebay for decent money.

if you have any odd pieces (animals, minifigs, theme specific stuff), thats worth splitting out and selling separately

I'd buy some used lego, that's for sure. I have many of the sets in past pages of this thread (none of the super-huge stuff though, always wish I could have got the pirate ship to go with all of these damn sharks).

That Z-Gundam link though. Damn son. That's too much

When did Legos get so expensive!!? My kids re just getting into them - $5 for a Minifigure? GTFO.

Agreed. I remember getting legos when I was a kid (which I still have) and the box on the outside says $29.99 for the entire Cargo set (6391) and now that thing would be at least $100.

I browsed the aisle section of legos recently and the prices were ridiculous. I always wanted to build a city or medieval city out of legos. Fat chance that will happen.

You can give them away to me. I will take them off your hands. :)

And as for the price of sets lately, it is about an average of $.10 a brick. Not too bad really. The sets seem insanely expensive, but when you think about the cost per brick it does not seem so horrible.

You should buy lego, it's cheaper.

But seriously, it's always been expensive.

Ahhhh - just found this thread!!! So happy! :D

I finished 10220 Volkswagon T1 Camper Van about 2 weeks back, and that was a fun build. The inside details are really gorgeous and well thought out. I also just finished putting together my 10214 Tower Bridge on Monday. That build took me a while (trying to figure out how to lay the pieces out was the first big obstacle...), and it was super repetitive. But holy cow was it rewarding!

I'm going to start on my Farnsworth House for my office. I already have Falling Water and Brandenburg Gate in there, so this will make a nice addition.

I've also still got the 5766 Log Cabin and 5891 Apple Tree House still in box, as well as 3834 Spongebob Good Neighbors at Bikini Bottom in the mail. I love the Spongebob series (the only one I really "collect" besides Architecture), and really need to find and pickup more of the older stuff.

Is anyone else into MOC'ing? I'm looking to start disassembling all my models and sorting so I can start a project, but I have NO idea the best method of sorting and storing thousands of bricks. -_-

I run the Lego department at my TRU and couldnt resist buying these after all I could think about all day was Ninjas vs Dinosaurs after getting new shipments of each

New Dino T-Rex and Ninjago Kai's Motorbike they are both awesome

Now to make a minifigure displayer out of Lego to drop in behind on my shelf to put all the minifigures I keep buying

PS I help customers feel up the minifigure packages so they get what they want

I do that where I work too! One mom stood at the counter for 2 hours feeling up all the minifig packages out to get the complete set. She opened them all right there too and totally got them all.

I wish I lived near you...I want to get a complete set of these, but the nearest TRU is 30+ minutes away, and I fail at feeling the minifig packages. :(

I used to work at a LEGO store. At times it was freaking awesome, as we would get to build stuff (either messing about or building actual sets to put on display), but sadly it was offset by the fact that it was the most physically demanding job I've ever had.

Because Lego sets are so large, you can't fit many of each on the shop floor. And considering how busy the store got on weekends (and holidays, oh god), this meant constantly having to go to the stockroom upstairs and fetch more. And again, because Lego sets are so large, you're climbing ladders all the time, as they're kept on tall shelving units.

Replenishing the shop floor is pretty much an ongoing thing all day, and that entails bringing down countless large and heavy boxes.

Oh, and of course, there are kids about *everywhere*. I don't mind kids too much, but I do mind having to clean up after them.

It was far from a bad job, but it wasn't as awesome as I thought it would be. That's due to my own naïveté though.

Maturity, bitches.
I've finally landed a paying job (four month contract but it's better than nothng) so I can actually afford to buy Lego!

I split the cost of the Christmas Postoffice with my parents and getting that as a present.

Wow. Those are some of the best city sets I've seen in some time.

Bears + Police = AWESOME.

That cabin is really packed with so much awesome!
I love how the bear is just attacking the cabin and that the guy that is running away has bad teeth.

I'm curious for the 2012 Alien conquest sets.

Never knew about this thread. I was a huge lego-maniac growing up. I have lots of sets, mostly from the 80's and early 90's. The pinnacle of my collection is the (space) Mono-Rail - I loved that set as a kid. I also have the biggest pirate ship (I think), a smaller pirate ship, a few space sets, the Formula 1 set, and lots of city stuff (Police station, Hospital, Shell Gas Station etc.) and lots of misc. sets.

I always kept them in great shape, and never really lost any of the pieces from any set. I also kept every box and manual, and a few years ago, my mom (who loves puzzles) went through every single box and manual and found / matched every piece from the massive box of mixed pieces. So now, when I have a kids, I can give them all these sets which they can build, like they were brand new.

Man, I love Legos, but never make time for them these days. My mom used to get me some on my Birthday until I was about 21 or so... haha. I may just buy myself some for Christmas this year. I miss them. I have a ton of the ones in here. My favorite were the Knight ones. Had a lot of those. But a lot of Pirate ones and all kinds of other stuff from the western ones to alien ones to underwater ones. Never was into the Technic ones or whatever. Just liked the younger skewed ones. Always felt like more fun to me.

So I think I love the Lego company even more...I discovered that a piece was missing from a set that I'm building. I filled out there online form and they responded within the hour saying the piece would be in the mail and here within 10 days. No questions asked! A+ to them.

Yup. I was missing one piece from my Death Star. They sent me a replacement piece, no problem.

I never knew about this service when I bought the viking ship and a white horn was missing. I used the spare red horn instead for one of the chaps and left it at that for years. When quite an important piece was missing from my Christmas Bakery (which is on display again for advent) I found the brick replacement page and chanced ordering a spare horn as well even if the set was quite a few years old. No questions ask, Lego shipped the pieces for both sets.

Speaking as someone who works at Toysrus and regularly has my hands on these things, MegaBloks is garbage quality compared to Lego, the quality control is shoddy and the plastic is extremely cheap by comparison.

Lego all the way, my favorite sets are all the Blacktron 2 pieces:

1991_B-Tron_M-Tron.jpg

6981_Aerial_Intruder.jpg

6887_Allied_Avenger_raytrace.jpg

I have all of these! I have them assembled even now! I guess I can take pictures of everything Lego I have.

Playing with Lego and listening to Queens Greatest Hits 2 was awesome.

I so want one of these.....

This was a fun build - the detail on the inside is REALLY fun. I love the little lava lamp and the kitchenette stuff, and the motor assembly (very creative use of pieces on it). Little details like that make a world of difference on these models.
