My local Target had some LEGO sets slapped with clearance stickers. I snagged a Bounty Hunter Assault Gunship set for $42, but that's it. The rest were Pirates of the Carribean sets.

I also snagged one of the new Monster Fighters sets, the Hearse. Looks like a fun build!

I saw the lighthouse on clearance today also.

They looked at minecraft sales and opened it back up. :)

"Oh my god nerds love video game toys!" They should have realized this sooner. I'll take my nintendo properties as the next licensing wave now, Lego, thank you very much.

its never going to happen, so my wallet rejoices while my heart cries

Shit shit shit. Lego just put the haunted house price up to £150. It had been £120 before. It was pet shop price, now it's town hall :(

Target has some clearance, finally. All of Alien Conquest, Harry Potter, and some Star Wars. Grabbed Anakin's and Sebulba's Podracer set for $45, which is half off. Also got a PotC set just for the gold and buillion. :D

Another Target I went to had the same Podracer set at 25% off; go figure, as that one is in a nicer (richer) part of town.

Ugh I was at Target today too and it's the one time I didn't bother checking out the Lego section. Wonder if I missed anything good.

My freakin' Target didn't even have that set discounted :( I wanna buy it. I need to spend the weekend going around to Targets...

Why is it white?
My wife and I went to Italy almost 10 years ago and we visited the Colosseum. Our tour guide pointed out that there were little holes all over the stone which was where marble plates used to be anchored. So I'm guessing that the Colosseum was covered with whitish marble back in the day.

The Target's I went to only had the Hogwarts set for $10 off and a few Star Wars sets for a similar amount off. :(

I would have jumped on the Hogwarts set if it had been 30-50% off.

I ended up buying 3 minifigures, but I got 2 of the bagpipers. :.(

Man, LEGO Nintendo sets would be a gold mine. Not doing it is just leaving money on the table.

I would buy the living shit out of a Brinstar LEGO set.

I gave our nabours kid a LEGO set for her fifth birthday,
I was too optimistic regarding her LEGO skills, she had a really tough time building it.
so my advice would be to make sure to get her something she can handle.
ie no small parts nothing too complicated.
I think one of the bigger boxes with lots of "plain" bricks and only a few specials would be a good starting point, I wish I had gotten that.
something like this
LG5560lg.jpg

My 3 year old plays with her "little lego" as she calls it, she just likes clicking the bricks together and playing with the minifigs, taking off their hats and hair and swapping them around. She usually just asks me to make something for her and is happy to watch and "help"

I'm sure this has been asked numerous times before, but what's the best and easiest way to effectively and thoroughly clean LEGO? My Skeleton Ship Attack set arrived today (yes, it's awesome), but it's not as clean as I'd like. Pretty dusty, and some of the white pieces are discolored or have some marks on them. Is there anything I can do to lighten the whites, or to remove the dust without having to scrub at every stud? I appreciate any assistance in advance, of course. I love you all. This thread makes me happy. Thumbs up.

Not sure how well this works on LEGO, but Retr0bright can be used to "restore" yellowed plastic.

Finished Mines of Moria tonight.

One does not simply buy one LOTR Lego set!

The columns are interactive. You can simulate the destruction that occurs during the fight.

The main part of the set is actually modular. The two side sections connect to the main section.

The main entrance to Balin's Tomb. Notice the axe on the left that the instructions actually tell you to place across the door to stop the Goblins from entering.

Reverse side, AKA the Goblin perspective. Shame they didn't make the door build double sided.

The interactive elements of the set are not as reactive as I would like, but the little flourish it adds are quite nice.

And now for the reason to get the set.
"They have a cave troll!"

The entire set together under my television. The piecemeal aspect of the set makes it very easy to display. It is also not very large either, but looks neat once all together.

The set is VERY sticker heavy, but it looks rather plain without the stickers. It is a fairly decent build overall, but I quite enjoyed it. There are a lot of really nice little pieces that you get in the set for MOC purposes. I mentioned some neat SNOT pieces before, and some I had never seen before this set.

Three reasons to get this set:
1) Nice assortment of smaller and neat MOC pieces. Especially some SNOT pieces.
2) They have a cave troll!
3) One does not simply get Boromir in another set!

Recommended, but not an "OMFG! YOU MUST GET THIS ASAP!" like many of the modular series or the Death Star.

Really, this set should have been called Balin's Tomb more than anything. They could make so many sets set in Moria and have them be awesome.

SIDE NOTE: I picked up the Cars 2 "Mack's Truck Team" set on clearance at my local BN tonight. a $40 set that wound up being just under $15 with discount and coupon. I only grabbed it for the pieces, and getting 374 pieces for under $15 is a good deal. And it is the only set I was happy to see lots of stickers on, because I wont be applying them.

Picked up a toy story polybag for me today @ Target for 1.98 on clearance, got my son the Captain America set and my daughter one of the friends sets don't remember which.

Then tomorrow I may swing by Toys'r'us and see if they still have some of the Batman polybags left and grab a couple minifigs while I'm at it

Also double check Target for mini figs. They usually have them attached to the side of an endcap in the Lego aisle. It is a rather flat display and easy to miss. Especially because the series 7 display is red and blends in with the Target colors and makes it very easy to overlook.

EDIT: Also, all the Legoland Discovery Center passes are spoken for now.

The staff mentioned this as I was at the till yesterday. They said fans had been saying how happy they were with the price and then it went up. Moral of the story, complain about the price regardless!

Yaktuu put up the instructions for the Winchester, along with an LDD file and other stuff.

Wash in a pillow case in the washing machine on low temp. Oxy clean is supposed to be good to brighten yellowed bricks. Take a look through eurobricks general forum, there are a few threads I've seen before about that but can't find them right now.

nope, the stone that is there is white, just dirty. The holes were where bronze was put into it and looted.

Lego un-rejected the Portal 2 Cuusoo and opened it back up to voting.

Nice, even the mini scale one is neat, this I would get as opposed to the mine raft one.

My method

Old dusty Lego
+ washing bags (or zip locked cushion cases)
+ washingmashine

Lowest settings no spinning.
Then lay out on towel to dry out.

Otherwise if the dust is very stuck, some warm sopy water with a spud brush does the job

Picked up the Star Wars desert skiff today during the mid year toy sales (Australia). I only really wanted Boba Fett and Luke to go in my ROTJ Ikea frame I want to do. So I'll chuck lando and the other minifig up on bricklink to sell or trade as they're worth about $7 each.

I don't usually get Star Wars sets but I got it for the minifigs. The only Star Wars set I'd be tempted to get for the set alone would be the Death Star.

I have the mines of moria on layby too, looking forward to getting that, then I can do a LOTR Ikea Frame.

DO IT! And since you love mini figs, that set is insane for the number of figures it gives you as well. But the set is probably the best set I have ever gotten. So much fun, and an awesome play piece for mini figures to display as well.

Buy it. There is nothing wrong with being proud of the technological terror you will construct.

Yeah they have series 7 ones but ive found the one of the local Walmarts still has series 5

I am - literally - waiting in a huge line to purchase R2-D2 at the grand opening of the Lego store in Alpharetta, GA and hopefully snag the collector store set.

I'd love to, just have to fit it in somewhere, I want to order a set of the olympic minifigures from the UK, I need to pay off my layby for the mines of moria, series 8 of the collectible minifigures will be out in september and I want to get the monster fighters haunted house as well! urgh.

On top of that the Death Star is RRP$700 here in Australia

How do you just buy a set of minifigs? Can you buy a box from Lego, or would you bricklink them?

Man, I would be all over Portal 2 Lego.

Also, I watched that Lego Star Wars movie with my son. It was actually pretty entertaining.

Woo! Snagged R2, the exclusive store opening set, a mini sop and some duplo blocks with R2 printed on them (not sure what to do with).

Is anyone from LEGO-GAF going to be attending SDCC in less than 2 weeks? Sounds like there will be several exclusives (so far a Shazam minifig is semi-confirmed) only for attendees, as well as hopefully the reveal of the UCS B-wing.

Bricklink or eBay

Bricklink, I used to get full boxes, but lately I've been buying complete sets. I got sick of fucking around selling individual spares. Worked out cheaper and easier to just buy a complete set for about $37 PP from denmark or germany.

Doesn't work out quite as well for those inside the EU though as they have to pay for VAT tax.

Didn't end up getting the Shuttle Expedition set. In typical fashion I had to get something though so I walked out with the Lighthouse and Power Armor Lex.

Lighthouse is supposed to be quite nice as well. Enjoy.

I was strong and did not buy Weathertop today while I was out. In the past week I got Death Star and Mines of Moria. I think that is enough damage for now.

Attempted my first ever 3D MOC bust tonight. Tried to use only pieces from my old 80s sets and not dip into my newer stuff. Just for the challenge.

Lots of room for improvement, but I think good for my first ever attempt at something like this and how hastily I threw it together. I particularly like the posable eyebrows on the bust to reflect Phoney Bone's mood.

So I was bored and wired for the night, I decided to cram every mini figures I had (outside of the LOTR stuff I just got on Thursday) onto the Death Star. This set is the perfect display piece. I tried to cram figures in while retaining some of the interactive elements like the moveable turrets and whatnot. I could not get good lighting on the bottom layer that is lined with old skool space system figures.

Yes, the Death Star is the greatest set ever. An awesome build that takes forever, but also looks great on display and has tons of interactive elements to boot. The fact that it doubles as a massive mini figure display case is just icing on the cake. Now I can free up all my baseplates to build more stuff.

I just got a GREAT deal on an X-Wing set. As a Toys R Us Rewards member, they been giving a coupon in their latest catalog for $10 off any purchase over $50. (Except Babies R Us stuff, FAO stuff, video games and half the rest of the store. XP) AS it so happens, they had a sale on the X-Wing for a good deal off. $49.49. That's normally, $69.99 at TRU and $59.99 everywhere else that doesn't rob you blind. I just added a soda to that purchase and basically got the $60 X-Wing for under $40. Sweet deal!

Also, got Minecraft in the mail today as well. Soo many tiny pieces!

So awesome - fits perfectly, too. Nice work!
