....later on, in the 138th Episode Spectacular:

Troy McClure, talking about alternate endings:
"But of course, for that ending to work, you would have to ignore all the Simpson DNA evidence – and that would be downright nutty"

Does everyone realize that this is a jab at the O.J. Simpson trial?

My friend and I had a theory that he accidentally shot himself since the gun was missing from his holster. He kinda, sorta, did so we both felt vindicated.

Have anyone heard the story about the contest they had during the summer of that year that challenged people to guess who shot Mr.burns. because of the complicated rules no one guessed the right answered.

“You had to use 1-800-COLLECT and submit your name and the name of the person you were calling, then a pool of eligible people was selected, and it was about 200 people and they were called by MCI — plus YOU had to be home during the broadcast and the person you had called during the summer also HAD to be home during the broadcast. And not one of the people who they called had the right answer! So somebody was picked randomly from among those eligible. And it was some lady in Washington, D.C., who didn’t watch the show. She opted for the cash prize instead of being animated. The end."

Well aware, but it's one of the few times in the past 15 years a new Simpsons joke has made me laugh. I'll take the paddlin'.

The Simpsons Movie wasn't all that bad, to be honest.
There are plenty of great Simpsons lines, moments and episodes since the glory days of the classic era.
You just need to sift through a landfill full of garbage in order to find them.

I'd even argue that the absolute worst Simpsons era is behind us. There are still some absolutely awful episodes in new seasons (I watched the Lady Gaga episode on mute and I still wanted to die), but the overall quality is a bit better. The absolute low points were Homer chasing Bart while swinging a morning star and another episode where Homer joked about committing a murder-suicide on his family.

If anything, I feel that the movie dealt with the problem of dickhead Homer not caring about his family and trying to bring him back to the dumbass who at least cares and tries his best.
