The "my pre order vendor f*cked my Switch release day delivery" thread

Great. Mine shipped and is arriving Monday, just in time for night shift. Not like I had a free weekend + a head cold to lounge around with or anything.

At least it's coming, I suppose.

I understand that. They usually use Logistics for items I order on weekends. Why they decided to use UPS this time around, I have no clue.

Might be since your package is further away from the fulfillment center. From what I understand, the closer it is the more likely they'll use their own service to get the package to you ASAP. If your shipment center, rather, if your package is somewhere other than your fulfillment center, than it'll be handed off to UPS and they handle the rest. Pretty much means they'll be doing it at their own leisure so that's lame.

All the people getting a year of Prime have me jelly. I'm always coveting Prime but can't stomach paying $100 for it. I miss the days when I used to split the cost with 3 other people.

Not a year. An extra month to your current subscription, at best.

Amazon has an hour and 10 min left for me here in socal. Guessing it won't even make it even though it's listed as shipping. Does this mean I'm not getting one at all or it's coming tomorrow or Monday?

GameStop's Overnight Shipping that was confirmed twice through Customer Support never came through today. Got the Zelda Master's Edition, but have no console. Have already been charged for it, so can't even try to see if any store still somehow have extras. Just gotta' wait 'til Monday...

Shipping was refunded, and the equivalent of $50 in GameStop PUR Points was applied to the account. Don't know if I should apply it to something on Switch, or on something to play over the weekend alongside Fire Emblem Fates... Or to mostly pay off a Pro Controller for when Splatoon 2 gets here.

Still annoyed regardless. :(

Edit: I literally live <1 hour from GameStop's main Warehouse. I'm just kind of flabbergasted as to how this could have happened. Preorder was made within the first two minutes of it going up, too.

Update from Amazon. Expected to Arrive Sunday. To give perspective, I have it shipped to my work, and we are not open Sunday.

Also it's Intelcom, so this should be fun...

After this conversation, my Amazon Switch order mysteriously shipped after "preparing for shipment" for more than a day.

Hello,
Here's a copy of the chat transcript you requested:
Initial Question: I placed this order on January 13th, as soon as it went up and it STILL has not shipped. I am already seeing that people who ordered it yesterday have already gotten their orders or they have been shipped. This is ridiculous. I am getting frustrated at this. There is no reason for me to continue to be a Prime member if I am getting all my products late.
03:33 PM PST Chris(Amazon): Hello, my name is Chris. Thanks for chatting in with me today. Please give me just a sec to pull up this order and take a look. Thanks :)
03:34 PM PST Chris: What I can tell you about your order is that it is in the advance shipping stages with an express shipping speed and is estimated to be delivered between 8-10 March
03:35 PM PST Me: It has been preparing for shipment since atleast yesterday. Why is that?
03:36 PM PST Me: Logic would dictate that people who ordered first would get theirs shipped out before anyone else, no?
Is there even a point of preordering ?
03:36 PM PST Chris: I'm not sure why the status shows "shipping soon" since yesterday. I've seen that status on many orders today for this that are in the advance shipping stages. I can assure you we are working very hard to get your order and other Switch orders out as soon as possible
03:37 PM PST Me: Do you have an explanation why people who ordered yesterday are already getting their units shipped out and even delivered?
03:38 PM PST Chris: We had additional inventory of this console that was available for order and in some areas, same day shipping was offered. Some people may have placed their orders this way and may be how they received their orders so quickly
03:39 PM PST Me: You had additional inventory but the people who ordered first did not get them?
03:41 PM PST Chris: I know it's frustrating and I would be as upset as you if I had made a preorder in January and others who ordered yesterday or today are getting their orders before you. I personally am upset about this for my customers as it doesn't seem fair for those who have been waiting and planned ahead by preordering. Unfortunately, I am only the messenger :(
03:41 PM PST Me: I understand
03:42 PM PST Chris: Good news is that yours is on the way and as soon as it ships, you will receive a shipment confirmation email. I do hope you'll get that confirmation later tonight :)
03:43 PM PST Mei: Thanks for your help
03:43 PM PST Chris: you're very welcome. sorry I didn't have better news to share. I hope you have a wonderful weekend :) hang in there. we are working hard to get these orders out
03:43 PM PST Me: You too ,thanks
03:44 PM PST Chris: thanks, bye for now :)

Thank you.

Showing March 9 as delivery date.

Called Amazon and they said it won't come today but wouldn't give me a commitment when. Also wouldn't give me credit or anything.

What a surprisingly lousy experience.

I've had calls where they say "It's already shipped" "It hasn't shipped at all" "You're getting it today" "You'll get it in a a couple weeks" and "You'll get it tomorrow by 9am" this shit has driven me up a wall.

Finally I got someone who said "This is about the Switch?" and actually knew what they were talking about. Apparently mine is at a distribution center in my state and has entered the "Advanced Stage of Shipping" Going by what they said it's packed away and ready to ship to me most likely tomorrow.

I look forward to tearing my hair out when they utterly screw me over tomorrow!

"advanced stage of shipping" sounds like something that happens in the community anime thread

I'd ship Amazon with a trashcan if I could.

The way the rep described it was because it was at that stage they can't alter anything with it and it's going to be handed off to a mail carrier (UPS I assume).

Seriously though I'm never doing preorders with Amazon for a long time. This has been such an ordeal. I'm also pissed cause I got a friend who got a 30% discount on their Switch and I got a month of Prime. The nerve :V

I talked with 2 different Amazon CS reps earlier in the day via chat and they both guaranteed my order of Switch + Zelda would be delivered today. I found out later in the day that everything was still in a warehouse in Kent, WA -- I'm in Portland, OR so that is like a 3+ hour drive. I knew there was no way at that point it would be delivered so I called customer service on the phone and was given a full refund on my Amazon Prime membership ($99) and they aren't going to cancel the 6+ months remaining. The nice guy I was working with also took down my number and sent me an email saying he would call me tomorrow to ensure that my order arrived. About 6:30pm I got an email with tracking and estimated delivery or tomorrow.

First time I ordered from Best Buy online, I got my credit card hacked the following week. I just stick with Amazon now, and even there I've had some issues.

Yeah, I was told that lie as well.

One hour before 8 PM PST and the OAK4 distribution center is 2+ hours away.

Yeah, so, not happy about this at all.

Strangely enough, I don't blame Amazon. I think they are trying to tough out this rough patch.

I blame Nintendo. Two different CS supervisors told me the same thing: shipment from the supplier was not adequate.

Damn Amazon won't be getting my system to me until tomorrow...maybe. Yeah...this sucks. Will be the last time I order something like this through them. I'll live with GameStop.

Giving Amazon.ca one more go then.. see if they can get Intelcom to ship out on the weekend. So tired of hassling with them on Prime discounts, shipping dates.. Switch stuff is far from the first. They basically got my orders because of Prime discounts and because they were the one system that had units in when I hit them up.

looks like Walmart is sending me a $20 gift card because the Switch didn't show up today. (fedex tracking # said today, but no such luck)

So I guess I'll eventually pick up a Pro Controller at a more reasonable price

and I didn't even complain!

Amazon CS told me my order is ready to be shipped and will arrive on Monday. Guess I am in the clear?

Chat told me I'd get it tomorrow... I got a shipping notification that it will get here on Monday.

Will call them tomorrow to bother them some more, I got the receipts.

My order finally shipped. Says it's arriving Monday. Considering I got all of my work out of the way this week so I could relax with Zelda on the weekend before going back to doing work on Monday, this kind of sucks.

Put equal blame on both of them. See my chat with the CSR. They had extra stock but it was allotted to the people who ordered yesterday while the people who pre-ordered on January 13th were left twiddling their thumbs.

They are probably thinking that we already got the money from suckers who pre-ordered on the 13th so we'll put our current stock up for order so we get extra money.

My rep also told me my Switch was apart of the second wave of preorders. The fact I ordered mine withing 90 seconds of it going live and I'm not in the first wave sounds pretty ridiculous. :V

I give up. Rep emailed me and said it'd take 2-3 days to figure out what's wrong with my order. Guess i'll just platinum Nier in the meantime.

I cancelled my original Best Buy Preorder when the Switch went live on Amazon, because I trusted Amazon more to get me my order on release. Unfortunately, I still havent received me. Which honestly wouldn't be that big of a deal, I can wait a few more days to get it... but I have 0 clue when I will be getting it. My orders page still says I should be getting it today even though its 10:15pm lol, and Customer Service says they don't know what happened and will e-mail me when they do.

TL;DR Not getting it on release is disappointing but I'll survive, its not knowing why I didn't get it / when I will get it that is frustrating me. :(

Think its clear at this point that first come first serve doesn't matter to them whatsoever. They had systems for people today and last night using Prime Now, yet can't get you an order in time. Its all bullshit.

Hahaha. No luck from my third Amazon CSR over the past couple of days.

First CSR I spoke with on Thursday was assuring me my items would be out on time. That's fine, I was just checking in.

Second CSR this morning told me that even though I had ordered everything in separate orders, they were being delayed because of BotW SE, which wouldn't ship until next week. At least I got this rep to correct the Prime discount to its proper level.

Third CSR this evening went on about how none of the Switch items were guaranteed release date delivery. I mentioned that it seemed like there was no priority system in place, people ordering in the last 48 hours receiving items, yet preorders on the first day of availability were still waiting. He told "It is a first come first serve basis on these Nintendo products"

I am always very polite to these CSR, although I closed the chat with the third fairly quickly nearly the end with a 'Thanks for your help'. Definitely cancelling Prime and avoiding Amazon as all, but a last resort from now on.

It's like the same thing with Master Editions. How slow were our local servers? My internet is pretty fast :(

I only got an email saying that my accessory kit's date is set between Mar-Apr :/

CS told me the same over the phone and order still states 'Arriving today by 8pm Preparing for Shipment'. I mistakenly purchased a GC to pay off my Switch order, now I am kinda stuck waiting for Amazon to figure things out.

This is after being told repeatedly by chat CS that my order would arrive on time. I also agree that not knowing when it will ship/arrive and what is going on is more frustrating than it being delayed.

Fucking guy on Amazon says its delayed and cant even tell when I can expect it.

At this point I'd sign up for notifications @ nowinstock.net and try to get it from someone else and have Amazon be a backup. I found a Switch in a Wal-mart and bought it cause I was so paranoid about my order. Glad I did because the Amazon Switch was defective. Given the shady as fuck delivery guy I wouldn't be surprised if it was mishandled.

You can return an item on Amazon without deduction by using "didn't arrive in time" as a reason. At this point its more than valid.

Good news. Amazon offered me $3.99 for their mistake. What a day. Still hasn't shipped after 3 customer service people guaranteed it would get here today and "upgraded me to same day shipping".

After Amazon fucked up my FFXV preorder I went with Best Buy for all things gaming... Haven't been disappointed yet.

It finally updated and now says Monday. Hopefully it arrives this time.

the guy I talked to was actually really helpful and even called my phone to tell me it was shipping and will be delivered tomorrow.

in the end, it's not the customer service that's fucking up, it's the shipping dept.

amazon will probably email something to everyone which had shipping problems.

My chat with Walmart cs did me no favors. Basically said I'd get a response within 24 hours I dunno what to expect. Gonna camp out on Sunday at Toys R Us.

Wow, I am really happy I preordered two of them. Knowing I could easily offload the second on these forums or to a coworker or friend made it an easy decision to preorder an extra.

Currently, I have my Switch from Best Buy right next to me while write this, while the one from Amazon never shipped until tonight and is sitting in some wear house an hour from here for the whole weekend.

Yup, gotta love Amazon.... Anyone else notice that if you aren't a Prime member you are treated as ascribe class citizen, and they are just the WORST to depend on? Best Buy on the other hand has never missed a release date in three years of preordering with them, and even delivers a day early sometimes.

Did customer service help at all? I've called twice today just asking for more info and both times I've got nothing. Literally no info at all about when, why, who, etc.

It depends on what you are looking for. Depending on where your order is located (how far away the warehouse is for your residence) you may or may not get it in the next couple days.

In my case, I knew I wasn't going to get it on release day as promised so I was rather upset. I called seeking compensation and to ensure that it would be delivered to me as fast as possible as a result of them breaking their release day guarantee.

The rep that worked with me did not give me details on what he thought happened or went wrong but was sympathetic toward my case and was generous with me in regard to receiving a full Prime membership refund ($99).

I do work in sales and spend a lot of time working on the phone so I was able to explain my case to them quite clearly. I think he knew what he was getting himself into and just went with the easiest option to resolve the situation. I was happy with the full Amazon prime refund without the remainder of its service being cancelled and the follow up call tomorrow to ensure my order arrived.

As disappointed as I was to not get the Switch today and be able to dive into Zelda, I am okay with getting $99 back for my troubles.
