Hm, just noticed something odd with Flipboard. During page turns, the text will pixelate visibly, and rerender only once the page turn completes. Is that an app issue?

edit: must be, kindle page turns look fine. But holy shit, does it lag. Gotta check ibooks.

USB has a specified voltage, but the maximum current depends on the USB port. Some motherboard manufacturers make a feature out of USB ports with higher maximum current to allow electronics to charge faster.

For others to say that the charging speed is limited by 'the laws of physics' is a bit disingenuous. It's not like they're up against a theoretical limitation on charging speed across all types of batteries. Battery technologies are available that offer much faster charging speeds, but there are other tradeoffs like cost, density, and heat.

If you store your media in iTunes, use Home Sharing if you want to save space. It'll stream them from your computer over your wireless network to your iPad. No need to transfer anything to your iPad.

Audiogalaxy does the same, but will let you stream music from your computer to anywhere with internet access.

yes due to higher power drain, long as it's not as hot as my touch 4g, that thing cooks playing some of the bigger 3d games.

"Laws of physics" was hyperbolic on my part. I don't think it's possible with the existing cable, though.

I hope the app is updated soon for better performance but I'm quite happy with my purchase right now. The screen delivers.

The screen is nice, but I realized I made a mistake in at least not upgrading to an LTE iPad. Once the 'thrill' of the screen evaporates, it's essentially just an iPad 2. Maybe my feelings will change over time as the extra RAM will no doubt improve web browsing and improve multitasking. Also, the extra heft of the device should make my forearms a bit more toned. Hope isn't lost!

Still going loading the backup from iCloud. Easily the best software feature Jobs left his fingerprints on before he stepped down. It has made upgrading and transitioning between devices painless.

The new iPad is my first iOS 5 device (never bothered to update my OG iPad).

Scrolling seems to be really "wave-y" and while it looks kinda nice when you scroll slow, it's annoying and stutters when scrolling fast, like a game without vsync.

Is that some bug or feature and is there anything I can do about it?

I think people need to understand that as far as charging goes, the iPad is the same as a laptop. You wouldn't expect to charge a laptop over USB.

you’re not kidding. the ipad has a 43 w-hr battery and the 11” macbook air has a 35 w-hr battery. the 13” model has a 50 w-hr batter.

the ipad battery is a monster.

I had 1 dead pixel when the iPad2 came out and they replaced it no problem.
