The Nintendo GameCube Appreciation and Collecting Thread.

I never understood the hate. I mean, yes the blue coins are a pain in the ass and FLUDD can be a tiny bit unwieldy at times, but Sunshine is fantastic.

Sequel different than predecessor? WTFISTHISSHITIHATEITHATEITHATEITSHOULDBEMORELIKETHEONEBEFORE!

Games I'd say you're missing.. Still damn impressive and makes me miss my old collection.

- Beach Spikers (Any good?)
- Beyond Good and Evil (Xbox)
- Crash Tag Team Racing (Xbox)
- Fight Night Round 2 (Not my kind of thing
- Freedom Fighters (Xbox)
- Gotcha Force (Any good?)
- Metal Arms (Xbox)
- Midway Arcade Treasures 1-3 (Ps2)
- Pokemon Channel (is this even good?)
- Pokemon Box (what is this?)
- Prince of Persia series (Xbox)
- Rayman 3 (Xbox, does this have anything special to the cube?)
- Timesplitters 2 (Xbox)
- Splinter Cell series (Own on Xbox)

Also does anyone have this game? I had completely forgot about it until I stumbled upon the Wiki page the other day.

I should always specify that I do collect on other consoles as well, heh. I have stuff like soccer slam on Xbox as well, but if these games have any cube specific content i'd not mind knowing about the ones that are unique.

Now that I have some spare cash I'm trying to round out my Gamecube collection, unfortunately they're damn expensive lol. I've just bought a mint Skies of Arcadia for £42 and I'm willing to go slightly north or £35 for Twilight Princess if I need to. They're more than what I feel I should be paying for them but they're also only going to get more expensive from here out. Time to bite the bullet I guess.

Great pick-ups. Double Dash is still my favorite Mario Kart. I really miss that dual racer mechanic.

Yeah, DD was awesome. Might be my favorite console MK...does that make me a bad person?

I now have 3x OoT/MQ disks and 4x Collector's Disks (2 sealed).

I will soon own ALL OF THEM.

(EDIT)
I feel like an idiot though...the OoT/MQ that I got originally with my preorder, I didn't like the stupid boxart so I chucked it and downloaded one from online.

I'd kill to make that decision not happen.

Hey is this the thread where one can request cheap Wavebird links

I'm not paying $250 for a video game controller is all I'm saying

Not long ago I found a loose receiver for 50 cents and 2 loose wavebirds for $3 each at a thrift store. Now I'm up to 2 receivers and 3 wavebirds. I'm gunning for 4 of each, but frugally, lol.

Sorry for delay on this.

- Beach Spikers (Any good?)

Probably one of the best arcade sports titles in the past ten years. If you've ever played Virtua Tennis, it's similar. A lot of fun, definitely not just a multiplayer game either. It's one of those rare GameCube only titles that for whateve reason has never seen any kind of rerelease and is all but forgotten by SEGA.

- Fight Night Round 2 (Not my kind of thing

Does have a playable Little Mac from Punch Out, plus a full copy of Super Punch Out. I noticed a lot of your games were heaby Nintendo so if you're collecting on that basis this wouldn't be a bad add. Similar to what EA did for NBA Street Vol 3.

- Gotcha Force (Any good?)

It's heavily divided. The people who do like it, love it. As in put in hundreds of hours into the game. It's highly customizable and similar addiction to Pokemon. It's the better Custom Robo for the system that's for sure. Others I think are turned off by the anime style and basis. Again one of those rare GameCube exclusives that has never seen any kind of rerelease, sequel, or spinoff to another platform. I would definitely look into it. Quirky title like Cubivore and Go Go Hypergrind on GameCube.

- Pokemon Channel (is this even good?)

Again following your Nintendo themed titles I thought it made sense. It's not a great game. I enjoyed it but I have a Pokemon bias. Had some interesting concepts for GBA adapter and whatnot. If you could get it cheap I would pick it up.

- Pokemon Box (what is this?)

Again as a collector I would think this would be on your radar. In the States it was only made available on Pokemon Center online store. It's an accessory more or less to the GBA games as it lets you store hundreds of Pokemon on the GameCube. It's one of the rarest and most expensive titles in the GameCube library due to its limited quantity. Plus if you get a complete copy it comes with an exclusive colored memory card that is half blue and half red.

- Rayman 3 (Xbox, does this have anything special to the cube?)

GBA connectivity is about it I believe.

I loved Beach Spikers. The whole tamagotchi-esque partner was a really cool idea. It wasn't too bad in multiplayer, I had some fun with the dumb mini games at least.

I regret not going for the purple GameCube back then. I remember specifically going to a store with the platinum GameCube in stock to get one because I preferred that colour back then. To this day I still weep every night thinking about what could have been. :'(

purple drank grimmace edition is so baller...still glad i bought it back here on GAF"s B/S/T with GBA player for a song a year or two back

playing zelda 4 swords upscaled via XRGB mini, goddamn this game is pretty. i can't believe how well so many GC titles hold up vs the gen prior

RE 0, mate. That's the gold and pride of Gamecube.

playing Zelda Four Swords this week (last console one ive yet to run through), upscaled + component...damn, this looks great for a 10 year old game! the haze & fire in the lava temple looked great, and i love the puzzles. i had it in my head this one was multiplayer only, glad i finally got into it.

picked that one up on the cheap a few months back, still gotta boot it up - i love classic RE but i gotta get in the right mindset for tank controls, heh

I like Resident Evil Zero, the game did something great with the whole train segment. Not much room to evade zombies and other creatures. After the train segment I think people were just a bit disappointed by the old Mansion/Lab set-up.

It did have some cool new creature designs. Fuck the leechzombie. Plus some new enemies who were quite bothersome. The Eliminator is a compact Hunter, Plaguecrawler is creepy and the Lurker... ugh.

Just started playing 0 and I am really schocked about the Itemsystem. I really liked the system with the boxes in REmake and Code Veronica, but the constant thinking about what to left behind and what to take with me and to hope, that I can return to the Items I left behind really anonyes me and stops me from playing further.

REmake really got me from the start, loved the game and the music and the atmosphere, the first hours were with the labortory in the end the best part in the game.

Your head was thinking of Four Swords (you played Four Swords Adventure on the Cube) on the GBA, the bonus game on the A Link to the Past cart. That was multiplayer only (until they reworked it for the 25th Anniversary Edition on DSiWare)

I look forward to doing something with it this weekend, just plugged it up for right now. Thanks to Go319, hope he enjoys his NTSC games.

Thought I'd just post a photo of my updated collection since I'd gotten a fair few new titles. :)

What! Nintendo Australia puts actual logo fonts on the spine??! (Wii games) Why is NoE so incredibly annoying sometimes. All we get is plain font.

edit: and they seem to have done the colored SNES cart labels thing. and switched to NoE-style plain letters for Wii U boxes (aside from Nintendo Land) like NoE. Interesting

Actually the wii u games are the same

Yeh most of my games have cool logo fonts but some are just plain, think it just depends on the game here.

Although some of my Wii games are EU versions and still do have logo fonts, glancing to my shelf behind me I've got EU copies of Blastworks, House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return, Muramasa the Demon Blade, Epic Mickey, Madworld, A Boy and his Blob, Gunblade & LA Machineguns, Red Steel 2 and No More Heroes 2; they're all EU (not NZ or Aus version) and have nice colourful titles on the spines... A lot of the other EU ones I have are plain though.
