Today:

I look forward to doing something with it this weekend, just plugged it up for right now. Thanks to Go319, hope he enjoys his NTSC games.
So jelly. I need to find these some day for a not-ripoff price.

Yeh most of my games have cool logo fonts but some are just plain, think it just depends on the game here.

Although some of my Wii games are EU versions and still do have logo fonts, glancing to my shelf behind me I've got EU copies of Blastworks, House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return, Muramasa the Demon Blade, Epic Mickey, Madworld, A Boy and his Blob, Gunblade & LA Machineguns, Red Steel 2 and No More Heroes 2; they're all EU (not NZ or Aus version) and have nice colourful titles on the spines... A lot of the other EU ones I have are plain though.

Actually the wii u games are the same

No no, hold on guys. I meant actual NINTENDO games. Games made & published by Nintendo. Third party titles always (or most of the time) do have logo fonts on the spine in EU as well.

I regret not going for the purple GameCube back then. I remember specifically going to a store with the platinum GameCube in stock to get one because I preferred that colour back then. To this day I still weep every night thinking about what could have been. :'(

Hehe, I remember all the hate for it back in the day on Gaf as it was about to come out.
I went, screw you guys, I'm getting a purple GC and a purple GBA as well.
Didn't stop me from getting a couple ofter colours later on though, especially the platinum pack that came with Wind Waker. :)

What! Nintendo Australia puts actual logo fonts on the spine??! (Wii games) Why is NoE so incredibly annoying sometimes. All we get is plain font.

edit: and they seem to have done the colored SNES cart labels thing. and switched to NoE-style plain letters for Wii U boxes (aside from Nintendo Land) like NoE. Interesting
New Super Mario U is the only first party release with a plain spine in Australia so far to my knowledge. The plain European spines piss my fiancee off to the point where she will buy the game in Australia and forgo the import discount to have a nicer spine.

Nintendoland uses a logo font in that picture.

NOA uses logo fonts and NSMBU (and NSLU) have the "standard" font here too.

there's really no perfect win-win with this. AU has mostly spine logos. But the ratings logo is huge on the cover. EU has (at least in PEGI countries) a nice, small, unintrusive ratings logo but bland spines. US has logo spines, small simple ratings logo but often bad alternate box art. Japan has small ratings logos, often the best box art but also bland spine text most of the time. can't win.

Yes, like I said, NL has the logo in EU as well. The only game so far. Oh and Lego City for some reason.

Edit: I'm on crack or something ...now I realize that Game & Wario has logo font, too. They're so inconsistent!

Can I anywhere buy blank Gamecube cases with two discs? Bought Resident Evil 1 and 0 used and the holders for the second discs are broken and I would not like to put them in ordinary DVD cases...

I got some off Amazon, someone was selling 5 normal cases plus 2 two disc cases under the listing for a lot of 5 cases. Cost like $8, got really lucky.

Best bet is to look for cheap two disc games if it comes down to it. Splinter Cell Chaos Theory is the cheapest I've seen.

Here is a full list of 2 disc games. Some other fairly cheap ones too. Especially Tiger Woods.

As a teenager, I went with a GameCube over PS2 and Xbox at launch. Even through the droughts, I loved the system. Sadly about two years after launch, our house flooded and my Cube was lost to water damage. I got one a few years down the line but never gave it the attention I did when it was my sole system. I traded it and most of my games down the line in anticipation of the Wii.

Flash forward to today. I've been buying a lot of older games on my local Facebook yard sale page. A woman contacted me with a GameCube and games. I was interested because I had recently purchased a disc-only copy of Super Mario Sunshine for a dollar and didn't want to break out the Wii as well as finding some of my remaining games in a box in the basement. She gave me the list of what she had and today I'm meeting her after work. For $50, I am getting:

Purple GameCube (with some of the manuals)
Two purple official controllers, One orange third party from "Hip Gear"

Pokemon XD, Burnout, Tak, Tony Hawk 3, Pikmin, Nicktoons Unite, Luigi's Mansion, Super Mario Sunshine, Sonic Mega Collection all complete.

Super Monkey Ball 2, Eternal Darkness, Madagascar, Sponge Bob Lights, Camera, Pants, Mario Party 6 (with microphone), and Smashing Drive in various forms of completeness.

She wanted me to offer and when I said $50, she responded quickly and she was very enthusiastic. Looking back I bet I could have gotten it for $35 but I think I'm still getting a very good price for the lot.

Now I'm stuck at work where the minutes feel like hours. I just want to go home and play some Metroid Prime!

Great deal for $50. Some junk in there, but the good stuff is more than worth the price. Complete Pikmin + Mario Sunshine would be $50 alone.

After the question about empty cases I realized how many empty GC cases I have accumulated. Too many. 14 "good" normal cases, 4 with sports stickers that I don't know how to cleanly remove, and 1 two disc case.

So, I tried using headphones with my GB Player, but I'm only getting audio out of one side. Is this supposed to be like that? I tested the same setup with GameCube games and it works fine, so I don't think it's my AV cables.

What game are you trying to play? If I remember correctly some games output in mono, but you could select stereo in the games options if you wanted to use headphones.

I tried Castlevania COTM and Harmony of Dissonance. So, it's just a game by game thing and not anything wrong with my gear, right?

Edit - Hmm, it seems to be working now after playing a GameCube game. It was probably just my receiver acting up.

I got this Wii CC knockoff for GC. It seems to be made with the CC mold, but uses different materials. The shell is almost identical except that the back side is not glossy and it doesn't have the Nintendo and Wii logos on it.

I'd say it's OK for the $7 I paid for it, but it's not anywhere as good as the real Classic Controller. it just doesn't feel as good, because all the buttons seem to be either a lower quality or just don't fit right with whatever kind of PCB they're using or how they fit them in there or something. The cord is also the same length as the CC's. LOL! So, it's like 2ft long. You're basically forced to use an extension cord with it. Luckily, I have one.

Also, I had to open the thing up and scrape sauder and hot glue off the PCB and other parts to get it working somewhat decently. Some buttons felt way off when I got it.

And the button that was the Home button is actually the Start button on this one. The Start is now for Turbo and Select is now slowmo. Like, old school slowmo where it just presses start over and over. LOL! It's kind of annoying.

At least it works with both GC and GB Player.

I nabbed copy of Bloody Roar the other day for £3.50.

No manual, and the disc has a couple of (so far inconsequential) scratches on, but it feels good to have one of my first owned GC games back in my collection.

Snagged Jungle beat and some bongos for 5 bucks. I've always wanted to try the bongo controlled version which seems to lean more towards score attack, than standard platformer ala the Wii version.

Hopefully I wont break my hands, since I tend to not know how to hold back lol.

Pro tip: you can tap the side of the bongos instead of clapping. If you're anything like me, you'll clap vigorously and get very sore hands very quickly!

Grab the Donkey Konga titles too. Awesome rhythm games. The first one is superior because of all the Nintendo tunes, though.

Awesome take. Burnout alone is worth the $50 (I had so much fun with that game back in the day).

I sold my Nintendo Gamecube component cable when I was hard up for money. Bought it back a few months later.

My mind had cleared. What the hell was I thinking?

When I got Wii I gave my Gamecube with component cable and Game Boy Player away with some games like Sunshine and Doshin. Some of my games are lent to friends and some I have no idea where they are.

I have to recommend Super Monkey Ball 2: Monkey race as my personal multiplayer favorite. Sure it is simple and just a minigame, but so much fun with friends and who have never played can easily get in the action. Other versions of Monkey Race suck, but this one you have to master and I like that you shouldn't give up as items can save you (and screw everybody elses game).

Anyway these are what I have now:

Bloody Roar PF was my first Gamecube game too! So awesome, and I liked it much better than BR 3. I ended up exchanging it for The Legend of Zelda Collector's Disc though :(

Guys I tried hooking up my GC to my TV and the image would only show up in black and white and with no sound. Google shows that there's tons of people with the same issue but I haven't been able to find a satisfying answer. Does anyone here have any idea how to fix this?

What cables? Did you make sure you put the right colors together if you're using component? Blue and Green are sometimes hard to tell apart without proper light.

AV cables. The red, white, and yellow ones. I tried 2 different ports on my TV to no success.

Y no dubdash

It's somewhere. I think I lent it to a friend.

Which reminds me, did you guys play 8-player DD with two cubes and tvs? I lived with a friend and neighbour came to complain as her kids were afraid to come to visit her. Reason was that she lived above us and eight guys shouting "I will kill you, you bastard!" and other profanities playing Mariokart. Fun times.

I made it up to 12 player, with three TVs and cubes. Would have had a full sixteen, but one person decided at the last minute not to bring their cube.

Still, it was a blast.

That's wild. No one I know has a broadband adapter, so LAN play was never really an option.

Wow, that's quite the high quality collection.

How about Phantasy Star Online Episodes I & II Plus, Phantasy Star Online Episode III C.A.R.D. Revolution (it's a very different game, but I still liked it a lot), and Wario Ware: Mega Party Games and Wario World?
