The Nintendo GameCube Appreciation and Collecting Thread.

My complete T-DEV console arrived today. Can't wait to go home and check it out. Will probably post some pictures when I take a look at it.

It might not be much but it's my pride and joy.

Story time.
So I first saw an advert for this game when I was a kid in some Nintendo GC magazine. It was roughly two months before Christmas and I've never heard of this game in my life. The one page advert was of the Battleship Vyse owns. I was pretty much like "a flying ship!?! awesome!".

Naturally I asked my parents to purchase it for me for Christmas along with Custom Robo (which I also saw in the same magazine). I had no idea that Custom Robo was never released in PAL regions and my parents didn't have a clue about stuff like that.

They would ring GAME (local video game store) up once a week or every two weeks and ask them were the two games in stock. The answer was always no, it took 3 attempts for GAME to figure out that Custom Robo wasn't going to be released here and they didn't even know if they were getting Skies of Arcadia in stock.

I was getting worried because my parents told me they might not be able to get it because they are having trouble finding it so they asked me to pick out a different game. I can't remember what I picked but the excitement was definitely not as strong.

One day after my parents rang, GAME told them they would try get a copy in stock for me because of how often they called up about it, lo and behold, my parents managed to get me a copy!

I was so happy! It was an amazing Christmas day and I was pretty much glued to this game. It was made even better when I found out it was a JRPG, my favourite genre!
I remember playing it for months afterwards, it took so long to complete but I loved every bit of it. The random encounter rate was ridiculously high but I looked past that and enjoyed the game so much.

I've only ever played through the game once and it was during that period. One of these days I'm going to go back and play it again for nostalgia sake.

To this very day, I've never, ever seen this game sold in the wild here. Even when it was newly released. Here is Ireland!

Long story short, my parents are awesome people who made many a Christmas extraordinary for me! (and this game is awesome!)

After getting the itch to play some bond games. I bought Agent Under fire, Nightfire, EON and From Russia with Love bundle for $40 on ebay (pal versions).

I decided to give these games a go, since back then, I ignored them cause it wasn't Goldeneye.

Should come in the mail next week.

I highly recommend the 2 Daniel Craig 'Bond' for Xbox 360/PS3. Really damn good underrated games.

Ah atsumare made in wario i love that game, spent so many hours 100% ing each of the microgames those flowers are pretty hard to get on some of them. One of the reasons i love the Japanese cube is they just put more effort into the boxes/manuals, it's fun some of the odd stuff you find like that mini board game.

Enjoy :)

Here's my GC collection thus far. I've kinda stopped looking for games for the system, but if I come across something I like or want to collect, I'll get it. :)

All of them - minus Melee.

Smash Bros. Melee with my JP Smash Bros. 64 & CBFD

Sorry for the poor quality, also some of my GC games have printed cases since they were loose copies from Gamestop. I need to print better quality ones at some point. Lol

Heck yes. Love the Wario Ware series! This little board game thing pretty neat. I'll have to see how it's played.

That is the only one I'm missing. Never saw it at GameStop when they had the sales, and never seen it at a Flea Market. Lol

I'll get it one day. Haha

Picked up a copy of Pokemon Gale of Darkness in an old battered Gamestop case for $6 from Goodwill a couple of days ago. I gave it to my son and he was disappointed after playing it for about an hour saying that all you do is fight and you can't find or capture Pokemon.

He's loving Omega Ruby right now and I have no experience with Pokemon so are the console versions of Pokemon that different from the handhelds?

Pokémon is a handheld series. The console games are all spin-offs. If you want "a Pokémon game" you're gonna want to buy the mainline handheld games which always come in pairs.

Donkey Kong Jungle Beat is one of the legit best games on the system, so THAT FIRST.

Fire Emblem

Super Mario Sunshine

Rogue Leader

Is Jungle Beat the bongo one? Is it any good with a controller? Fire Emblem ain't happening unless it loses 75% of its value. Super Mario Sunshine is in the pic. I do need to pick up rogue 2 and 3.

Does anyone know how to make Gamecube Bongos with real bongos? Like putting sound sensors in them or something? I want to rock that game with the best bongo sound!

I can neither find it in GameStop stores on on Danish online markets, which were why I asked. I also meant for a reasonable price.

Stop being so smart.

It released a long time ago and had a small print run because of the Wii launch.

Ebay is probably your best bet.

Heres my collection, not pictured is Metroid Prime 2

What am I missing?

Viewtiful Joe 2
Ikaruga
PNO3
CvS2: EO
Cubicvore
Fire Emblem: PoR
RE: 2
RE: 3
Sonic Adventure: DX
SA2: B
(So much more)

1)A good way to check is to go to any website where you can download ROMs, check the top rated downloads and go from there.
2) Also top 10/50/100 lists on YouTube are good.
3) GameCube collectors on YouTube are great for finding hidden gems as is this thread.

There 4 in the series
Music:
Donkey Kong Jungle Beat
Donkey Kong Jungle Beat 2
Donkey Kong Jungle Beat 3

Adventure:
Donkey Konga Jungle Beat

All utilise the bongos. Donkey Konga Jungle Beat. For me personally, it's the best Donkey Kong game ever made

Uh, think you got those mixed up. The rhythm ones are Donkey Konga and the Adventure is Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat, and it's more of a platformer.

Back in my day, we used to use repel every 100 steps.

Got a new one today:
Wario Ware for GameCube. Known as Made in Wario in Japan.

What I didn't realise is that the Japanese version comes with a little board game with a die(with pink shit on it) and tokens.

Love the disc though:
I remember younger me being so disappointed that us Europeans got this ugly yellow cover instead of that pink one for Wario Ware GC. Viewtiful Joe had the same problem, though at least I got to import that one after I found out it was perfectly playable with no knowledge of the Japanese language.

That little board game looks spiffy too.

What am I missing?
Metal Arms: Glitch in the System. Criminally underrated third-person shooter with a lot of heart (read: sense of humor) that stands the test of time if you're into that type of game, though it has an irregular framerate.

Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat is also worthwhile if only for the bongo novelty factor. Stellar platformer made by the Mario Galaxy team.

Found myself a used Gamecube in very good condition. It's black and I got a memory card and a controller for it. Now I just gotta find some games for it. Someone is selling Twilight Princess for $118 which I would have bought if I had the funds for it.

I didn't have any trouble getting some off Amazon. At least a few years ago they seemed pretty easy to find there or on eBay unless you wanted 2 disc ones.

Oh it have to be said, I have only been looking for Twilight Princess here in Denmark. It might be available on eBay?

I just really want this copy of the game. For the Gamecube. :(

Second hand game market does seem especially more Nintendo crazy at the moment. Even if I type in Sega Genesis on CL, more than half the results are for Wiis with emulators on them.

A few days ago, I bought a brand new sealed Dead to Rights game at a indoor flea market for about $12. They had a few of those games on their shelves for years. It took me a long time until I finally bought one. Lol. I'll keep looking around for more sweet deals.
