The Nintendo GameCube Appreciation and Collecting Thread.

Just in case anyone's interested, I've got a GBP unit (platinum silver), action replay disc, SD adapter and an EZ Flash IV bundle that I need to get rid of.

I was looking for £60 preferably. Let me know anyhow.

That's probably for the internal boards. The external mod was supposed to be some months after IIRC.

Will probably cost more, but also won't require installation which will make it cheaper in the end.

After my web provider pulling everyones free webspace & me losing all my collection pics online i have finally re uploaded them all to a new host so the broken image links in my previous collection post should be working again.

Found a few more to upload, my main cube i use to game on which is a FFCC competition prize gamecube one of the 150 produced for the contest in Dengeki magazine.

Very nice GameCube!

On my outing to Half Price Books yesterday I found that they had a compete copy of Ikaruga...for $40. Seemed a bit pricey so I walked, but I'm having second thoughts. Is this a deal or should I pass and take my chances on eBay?

I would get it at that price if it was in really good shape. Seems like a fair price.

It sucks that Half Price Books knows what they have these days. I used to be able to get super awesome deals there.

It's usually useful to get other people's opinions. In this case the situation is a toss up since eBay is a contradiction of sorts. Lots of $60+ buy-it-nows, and auctions going all over the place.

Yea this is way too common on eBay. I wanted to get a copy of Rush 2049 for Dreamcast and the prices were all over the place. I prefer to see the game in person now as eBay sellers don't follow the guidelines when posting and will say everything is very good or mint condition and send you a destroyed disc. Not to rub it in or anything but I bought it new back in the day for $30 and it is a great title. A complete copy is just case, manual, disc and case art no extra pamphlets. I say if the disc is mint or close to it and it has the manual grab it.

Kururin Squash! is a great game. Love the music and the game play. Highly recommended if you are looking for an easy to pick and play import title.

I have no concrete answer, but if I had to hazard a guess, it's comparing the same areas in Zelda 2, using the Zelda Collector's Disc and the GBA NES Classic rerelease, with the first column being at native 480p and the second being at forced 240p (probably via Swiss or something). It's comparing image quality, most likely.

"DVD" probably just being the upscaler or capture method they used.

Ah, I think I got it. Thanks. It would have been easier for them to just say "Collector's disc 480p/240p Vs. GBP 240p" for a more complete comparison, GBP 480p should have been done. There has to be a reason the sub sampling artifacts are more pronounced from the forced disc compared to the forced GBP like Sheepy said.

Apparently, forcing GBP games to 240p is the best quality image output.

GBP is shit and Force 240 is the equivalent of standard 480... Is that what I'm suppose to be taking from this?

They are likely using the third party utility that makes the GBP perform well.

I'm aware of that. However, the sub sampling artifacts are on all of them. Yet they are far more pronounced on the disc based game forced into 240 than the GBP forced to 240. It's unexpected to see that.

Bear in mind also that the adapter that datel make is absolute fucking shit. Mine barely worked at all. I ordered a Wii SD key adapter from eBay and that worked flawlessly.

Threw the datel adapter into the bin.

You need an old non-SDHC card. Newer cards just don't work when launching apps on the media launcher.

I think it is a non-SDHC card, but is there an easy way to check?

Ok, irritated but also glad to hear this. Would you link me to one that is good?

I've owned a couple of non-SDHC 4GB cards, but they're so rare to find, I doubt yours is non-SDHC. It's usually printed on the card anyway (SD logo or SDHC logo).
