I think it would just be ports you would hear about right now, if you have a biggish game to announce you might be better waiting till the April presentation when it will get plenty of eyeballs on it.

I think they've done a fairly good job at preparing the next generation. Something which many western companies don't give a fuck about, unfortunately. A company's most valuable asset is institutional knowledge.
We've got Koizumi who is overseeing Mario, afaik. We've got Fujibayashi, who already directed key Zelda titles. We've got Aya Kyoguku and Hisashi Nogami. For AC, Splatoon etc.
Dunno what's going to happen with Metroid, tho. Since Sakamoto seems to be still fairly involved in that IP, and he's also 65 years old.

That would be way off the release cadence for Zelda. ToTK came out nearly 2 years ago.
I wouldn't be surprised if a we get a new one in 4 years.

Looking at how Totk took 6 years to make and it's essentially an expansion of Botw there is no way a proper new one will release so soon. End of Switch 2's life cycle for sure.

Tbf BoTW was released 5.5 years after Skyward Sword despite it being a large departure design wise.
But even if total dev time is 7 years. That would be 5 years away from now...not 10.
They probably will move on from BoTW/ToTK to some degree but Nintendo not to the extent of developing a typical AAA game. They have dev time advantages in that.

No matter how much compression is in this, MK9 isn't even fucking close to what Killzone Shadow Fall/UC4/Infamous Second Son meant at the time, and the first trailers for those games were crazy compressed.thats an offscreened compressed video.

Well you certainly can't see any leap in that footage, compressed or not, one look at compressed video of Killzone Shadow Fall back in 2013 was enough to see that shit couldn't run on a ps3 in any capacity.thats an offscreened compressed video.

If they move on from ps3 level graphics it's gonna take more time in any case, even being limited to ps3 level on switch they took more time than normal development in those times which was normally 2-3 years for a AAA game.

They could probably just tweak the existing engine. I don't Nintendo is ever going full realism latest AAA graphics....even for Zelda.

They still take too long even with ps3 level production values and a reused map and assets, but they won't be able to reuse it for a 3rd time, at least I hope so.

TOTK was also made during covid. And apparently they delayed it a whole year just to polish it, likely because of the new mechanics.

It's nothing like an "expansion". It reuses the base world layout, and that's pretty much it. Basically everything else is new, including several completely new gameplay systems.

Yeah, that's usually what's called an expansion, like Far Cry usual expansion when the map in reused and new stuff is added on top. That usually saves a lot of time and money for the devs.

I doubt they're gonna go crazy with asset quality and density just because they have a bit more power to work with, that's not how Nintendo operates. The next Zelda is not gonna be a GTA VI, it's not gonna take 10 years. It's gonna be higher res and have better textures, draw distance, possibly 60fps, etc. None of that should really take longer, they're just gonna be less held back than they were on the Switch. BotW and TotK already look pretty damn good emulated at 4K60 on a PC.
We can already see that MK9 looks like MK8.

From what we know it absolutely is not. PS4 to PS5 is 5.6x in absolute TF numbers, Switch 2 looks to be maybe 2.5x.
RAM sure, but the Switch had too little (and too slow) memory. PS4 was well balanced in that regard, as is PS5.

Even though we don't know for sure, if it is really over 3TF when docked, considering the Switch 1 is around 330 ish when docked, that would be about a 10x increase.

It's not over 3TF docked though. Not unless you double count in a way you really can't do.
And the Switch is more like 390 docked I believe.

What do you mean? Going off the assumed clocks speeds the Switch 2 is 8.7x increase in portable mode, and a 7.8x increase in docked mode. Sure, Ampere has double 32FP vs Maxwell, but on the other hand it is also a much faster architecture in general, and the double FP32 does have a big increase on performance numbers.
RAM amount is an increase of 3x, more than the 2x for PS4->PS5, and RAM speed is an increase of 3x to 4x, while PS4->PS5 was a leap of 2.5x. It's also no worse in terms of balance of memory speed vs GPU power compared to the desktop Ampere class cards, actually better in a lot of cases.

According to the latest leak it's about 1.6TF in handheld and around 3TF when docked. Not double counting. These are based on the clocks leak. The thread was literally just on here. That would be a bigger jump in raw power.

I'm no expert here, but people who seem to have some knowledge are saying in that thread that you can't count that way and the true numbers are something like half of that.
The ~13.7 TF 3060 (Ampere) competes with the ~9.7 TF 5700 XT, which itself delivers 1.25X the performance of GCN (PS4/Xbox One) per teraflop. So you can multiply the teraflop figures by ~0.7 to get the equivalent RDNA 2 performance, or ~0.875 to get the equivalent GCN performance. If you're comparing with Switch 1, the 0.7 multiplier is probably closest as Maxwell seems to perform similarly to RDNA 2.
