Just food for thought, but I've noticed GamExplain hasn't touched any of the rumors that have occurred recently (Including the one that first brought up NX this week) which is weird since they usually jump on these types of things very quickly, especially the ones where Emily Rogers has commented on. It might be nothing, but I'm wondering if they might be silent because they know something and are now under NDA. Just food for thought

The NX was first name-dropped last year by Iwata. It's been over a year since then and we are coming up on the date that NIntendo has continually stressed it would be released, so it's only natural that people are expecting a reveal soon.
 
Again maybe it comes today. Maybe it comes tomorrow. Realistically if they are gonna announce before the Holidays start rolling they have what 3 weeks max? October ends in like 2. So if they haven't announced by then then time to panic. Until then relax.

It'll come when it comes regardless of prognosticators saying it's always gonna be this week or next or this month or next or coming soon™.
 
Err... People shouldn't be expecting this until tomorrow at the earliest. 9-10am EDT is typically when they make big announcements.

As for RDR, I agree it wouldn't really take much away from an NX announcement but on the other hand it would be a huge boon if it gets announced as coming to NX. Even bigger if they somehow secured an exclusive trailer, or the trailer premieres at the NX event.

Well that's gonna happen either way lol. If Nintendo cared they would've been pushing to get those games but it doesn't seem like they give a toss, so I doubt this is going to make a difference to them.
 
I'm trying not to scarf on chips, but you guys seriously make me want to pull some out for the entertainment tomorrow when nothing happens.
 
All the Red Dead talk in this thread is the perfect example of certain Nintendo fans speculating about something completely unrealistic and then becoming angry when your expectations don't become reality.

Like, why are we even discussing a new RDR game as if its appearance on Nintendo's new platform is even a remote possibility.

Yes, but some people are expecting something right now. Like, as I type. That's not happening. Wait another 13.5 hours at least.

I feel like some of you are stuck in a state of suffering only to be healed by a [possible] announcement. I worry.
 
You know what is bad news? The hottest upcoming game gets announced around the same time as your new platform and it isn't coming to it.

We don't know that for certain. Even then, I don't think most people will care. The Wii missed out on a lot of games, and it still had plenty of great games and sold better than its competitors.

I don't think anyone is actually expecting it to come to NX, just talking about how the timing is interesting.

That said, with what we know about the NX I actually wouldn't be all that surprised if it was coming. Remember, GTAV was supposed to come to the Wii U at one point, and considering the rumored NX hardware is much more modern than the Wii Us was I doubt a port would be that difficult technically speaking.

But it's best not to expect it, yes.

Remember when Mario Kart 8 had people feeling good about Wii U for a minute? Was nice while it lasted..

Funny that MK8, Smash and Splatoon were the only true wavemakers on that console.. And all three were multiplayer oriented.. And two out of the three were also half party-themed (Smash & Kart).

Hopefully NX brings us a lot more meaningful single player experiences.
 
Oh guys, Nintendo can't reveal the NX this week or even announce it.

Rhythm Paradise Megamix releases this week in Europe. They'd be losing 3DS hardware and software sales if NX were to be announced.

Remember when Mario Kart 8 had people feeling good about Wii U for a minute? Was nice while it lasted..

Funny that MK8, Smash and Splatoon were the only true wavemakers on that console.. And all three were multiplayer oriented.. And two out of the three were also half party-themed (Smash & Kart).

Hopefully NX brings us a lot more meaningful single player experiences.

why are you saying this while admitting the best selling games on Wii U were multiplayer.
if anything that would make them look for more multi games.

Not that I agree that Red Dead will take the hype away from the console reveal, but every time the possibilities of what could happen with the NX are discussed and the fluke success of the Wii is mentioned it in my opinion doesn't seem relevant. Yes, the Wii was a completely weird anomaly that was a run away hit in 2006. Keywords being anomaly and 2006. Now, 10 years later things are different. Nintendo's image is changed. The market that caused the Wii to be a success are occupied, and unless the NX is something that has some kind of weird pull that makes everyone and their mom want to try it for its sheer "coolness" factor then it will not be the kind of success Wii was. If the system's features are shifted to target the correct group of people, best case scenario we see it being a successful as either the Xbone or maybe even the PS4 were this gen.

If anything has been learned from every big nintendo, or japanese sucess (Monster Hunter, Animal crossing etc...) those last years... Every NX innovation will be targeted at multi, which seems to be what we heard anyway.

Perhaps it was a poor example. The point I was trying to make is that just because a system doesn't have one game, doesn't mean plenty of people won't buy it. A better example would be that the Xbone is doing well despite not having Street Fighter 5 and Bloodborne on it. It's not beating the PS4, but it is still a popular system with plenty of its own games that are worth playing.

Not only multiplayer, but online oriented, especially Splatoon. Throw in Super Mario Maker as a big online oriented game. I don't think Wii U being a local multiplayer giant is odd, that's traditional Nintendo space, but that Wii U's biggest titles had online components and in two cases integral online components...is not what I think people would have predicted from Nintendo. At least not at first consideration.

But yes, I want more, more varied, and better single player content from NX. That is where Wii U has disappointed me because a) I'm a single player kind of guy and b) the single player offerings have been poorly balanced in genre representation and there never was one that grabbed me as absolutely amazing like there typically has been among Nintendo software on Nintendo consoles. Competent, good games that I'm glad I played but not the next big things in my gaming life.

Because the single player games on Wii U were of varying amounts of good to great, but nothing too mindblowing. Those games (Splat, Smash, Kart) made good use of multiplayer, but were huge also because they were amongst the biggest and most ambitious on the console.

I feel like them lacking more wholesome and huge 1P games that many people would be interested in was one of many reasons that the console itself was lacking. A big reason I believe this is because of how many people held out for at least BotW to come around before they picked up a Wii U, but of course that's now too little too late.

And I still like the multiplayer games a lot lmao. Of course I do! Just feel like the most we got on U from first party that fit that bill were platformers, and Star Fox Zero. Looking forward to seeing a lot more variety from them this time.. hopefully.
 
I'll take a guess and say that NoA will be the first to announce the reveal. So sometime during the day tomorrow.

nobody wants more singleplayer content on NX than me, believe but that was a weird way to say it :P

they had a few outstanding SP games but the lack of system sales,limited resources (they had to work on many 3DS games at the time and outsourced the HD games, Wii U support had to be limited after losing confidence on the system games were moved to 3DS and NX ) made the Wii U an underwhelming transition for the HD era,.

worst would be the focus on platformers but NX should get easily a more diverse library with the 3DS teams and knowing what worked and didnt on Wii U
